Hello, I am a English major conducting a research project on the safety of electronic cigarettes.
I have been vaping for two years and enjoying every part of it, from building to trying new liquids. Recently, I was asked to compile different research articles together to determine whether e-cigs are a safe alternative to smoking.
I have seen many, many articles on r/electronic_cigarette regarding the safety of electronic cigarettes, as well as the strong opinions of many passionate users. If you have any insight into this heated topic, please share. Academic/peer-reviewed sources are always preferred, but I am interested in all opinions!
So, what do you think, are electronic cigarettes "safe"?
For those who do not actively vape or "smoke" e-cigs, they are a nicotine delivery system generally comprising 4 ingredients, 3 which act as solvents and flavorings, and nicotine. As they are a recent invention, the long-term safety of their use has not been adequately understood, but all signs point to their generally possessing seriously reduced risk, or no risk at all.
If you have any interesting studies to point to, please do so! Let's get a quality discussion going on!!

I'm working on a group project in uni, we're trying to offer both sides of the argument relatively objectively (I'm the only vaper in the group, no-one else has any set in stone opinions either way).
Is there any peer reviewed research which support either the for or against arguments? I haven't found anything, any leads would be incredibly welcome!
Thanks in advance
Israel tax department is rising the taxes on electric cigarettes by a whopping 270% this means that 60ml juice that usually costs 19$ is gonna cost around 80$. Also, there's this one time use electric cigarettes and they cost around 10-20 bucks, these are gonna raise 360% which means around 72-80 bucks This is gonna kill vape market in Israel.. which means more people trying to kick the habit of smoking.
" The potential of electronic cigarettes to save millions of lives is being lost because of the media, public health groups, and politicians' near singular focus on youth vaping to the detriment of adult smokers. That's according to a new paper written by 15 past presidents of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT).
SRNT is the world's largest professional organization dedicated to studying tobacco, nicotine, and their effects on public health. For decades, SRNT has been instrumental in advancing anti-tobacco policies.
Published August 19 in theΒ American Journal of Public Health (AJPH), the paper represents one of the most dramatic interventions by tobacco control experts in favor of a harm reduction rather than a prohibitionist approach to vaping, highlighting a significant split in the public health community.
"In my 45 years in the field of tobacco control research, I've never seen an issue that is as divisive as this one; and maybe none that is as important to public health," said Kenneth Warner, the article's lead author. Warner urges policy makers, the medical community, and broader society to rebalance their attitudes toward vaping."

Today continues the trend of autofiring iStick issues and more recently shorting Kboxes. Both of these are very popular middle of the road mods so to say this is alarming is an understatement.
Now I'm not here to shit on regulated mods, but these posts did make me realize that there are potentially a lot of people using various types of mods that could be putting themselves in harms way.
Before we can even get to the mods themselves we need to address batteries.
Treat all of your batteries as if they have a 20amp limit. You should be aware that most VTC5's you can find online are probably counterfit or old, neither of these being particularly safe. You might be able to find some VTC4's but there have even been tests run on those that show that their higher amp limit may not be entirely factual, not to mention the shorter battery life.
My personal batteries of choice are Samsung 25r's and LG HE4's. Both of these have a limit of 20 amps continuous. Efest batteries are supposedly rewrapped HE2's which according to this blog post are actually only rated for 15amps continuous. The HE4's and 25r's are readily available online and quite cheap.
Do not overdrain your batteries. This can shorten the lifespan of your batteries significantly and is not entirely safe. Seasoned mech users will know when their battery hits 3.6v (which is when you should look at swapping them out) because your flavor and vapor production will drop off significantly. If you need some help trying to estimate your battery life you can enter your setup specs into this app and you can find your estimated runtime, as well as how many "puffs" to expect. This is of course a rough estimate and can vary based on the length of your inhales and the interval between puffs.
Keep your wrappers clean. If there is a cut, knick, or any other sort of damage to your wrapper you have two options. First you can patch it with electrical tape temporarily. This is not a permanent fix and should only be done if you don't have any other batteries. Next you should either place an order for some spare battery wrappers which can be found here. If your battery is beyond saving or you are not confident in

I have the 2021 outback with the all digital dashboard. When I first took it for a test drive it was a cool feature. Now that I have been using it over time I am finding that accessing things like changing the temperature taking several keystrokes and menu searches. More than I would like to spend ideally while I am driving. I am concerned about the safety of this. I don't know what do about it since I don't think that Subaru can magically replace the digital dashboard with hard buttons.
