There was an essay (referred to as OP from now on) posted to this sub recently that got quite a number of things wrong about Fodlan and its political situation (ironically, in a post that claimed to address misconceptions), and so I have risen from my reddit dormancy to correct the record. I will start with a discussion of the state of Fodlan and the crest system, move onto the role and power of the Church in all this, and end with a discussion of Edelgard and her partnership with the murder muppets.

The Aristocrestocracy

The OP makes the argument that because Crests are not uniformly and consistently a requirement for a person or family to be noble, they are not intrinsically tied into the aristocratic power structure of Fodlan. This is laughable considering how much of the game focuses on Crests and their impacts on characters and power. Just because an exception exists does not mean that a consistent pattern is invalid. For instance, to argue that the Victorian era was not a restrictive time to be a British woman because the monarch of the time was female would be idiotic.

Starting off at the Kingdom, there are seven major families listed in the Register of Kingdom Nobles – Blaiddyd, Fraldarius, Gautier, Charon, Galatea, Rowe, and Kleiman. Of these, Blaiddyd, Fraldarius, Gautier, and Charon have always held significant power in the Kingdom, and all of them have crested bloodlines. Galatea defected from the Alliance with a Major Crest and a Relic and was instantly granted land and status in the Kingdom. Notably, they brought no land and were given some, showing the importance of a crested bloodline. The two major houses without crests essentially bought noble titles through the addition of land to the Kingdom (through deceit or outright murder) – Rowe with Arianrhod and Kleiman with Duscur.

If this isn’t enough to show the overwhelming dominance of Crests over Kingdom politics, we have two families where the secondborn crested son was made heir over the firstborn crestless son, explicitly because of his crest – the Blaiddyds and the Gautiers.

so basically, a recap of the recent events:

Iggy tried to make a vessel into a super-weapon, leading to Titanoboa capturing and jailing him, the prison, however, was ass, and titanoboa didn’t even take away iggy’s weapons.

Iggy was alone in that prison for a while, but he managed to sleep sometimes, in that time however, Iggy was very mentally weak. Hiro took advantage of this time to completely mentally break him.

hiro eventually managed to break him, causing him to pass out. the next morning, I woke up, Hiro startled me awake and I contemplated my options, titanoboa was exiled, so who would let me out of there? I decided to make my own exit. Cutting through the bars, the guards, and everything that stood in my way, until I eventually made it out, waiting to see what iggy’s “friends” would say now.

However, I’ve realized that this refuge is extremely boring, no real conflict, no battles, nothing interesting happens!but the husks refuge is even worse. So I’ve decided to declare neutrality. I’m just thinking about this because I realized that Nestor Makhno of the anarchist black army, and his main white army foe, Aton Denikin, were both exiles in Paris at the same time in the late 20’s and early 30’s after the Russian civil war. I was wondering if anyone has given thought about what they will do when shit hits the fan? Like when republicans finally completely lose their minds and the country falls apart.

It seems like every day I see a republican state passing more and more oppressing laws against minorities, and republican representatives leaning more and more into their fascist voter base. These representatives will openly assault civil liberties and rights, and democrats more likely than not will just ignore it or not push against it. Not to mention states like Texas and Mississippi are turning themselves into conservative hellholes, practically pushing time backwards by decades when compared to other states.

Additionally there are the political pundits like Matt Walsh, and Steven Crowder who openly spread vitriolic lies about every minority under the sun, especially transgender individuals. These pundits don't have just a few thousand, or hundreds of thousands, but MILLIONS of followers. They eclipse any progressive pundits easily and they are all funded by huge corporations and government representatives. These pundits are actively in the business of radicalizing the population, taking a beatdown population that is facing nearly unprecedented economic hardships in the US. And directing their frustrations away from the real root of the cause and blaming it on minorities or whatever the new culture war talking point is. Honestly though, the republican governmental officials and pundits are the least of my worries. I'm more scared of the population they are radicalizing.

It seems like as time has progressed more and more Republicans have become more violent, more hateful, and more extreme. They will openly make death threats, be racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. And all they receive is support from those around them. Before it was just nobodies on Twitter, now it's people I know on Facebook, people I used to go to school with, old coworkers, even my own grandparents. I know people who went to the 1/6 insurrection, they aren't some uniquely weird people. No, they are people's grandparents and coworkers that seem perfectly sane at first glance. The right-wing population is moving nowhere but further right, becoming more and more agitated, more bigoted, and more disillusioned. And all it will take is the right spark to set them all abla

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. Executive Summary:

Taking off where we ended in Act 1, Dudu comes and saves Teri by using AF’s zeroth power. She and Kiana subsequently joins forces to defeat Otto. At this time, Nagamitsu appears and hints to them that the key to defeat Otto is to be able to switch the powers of the tree. In short, during the bubble world experiment (Chapter 25-EX), Nagamitsu realised that during a short period of time just as the worlds linked, the 2 states of limitless and limited powers exchanged places. And so, when Otto seems invincible, Kiana can use her HoV powers to switch these 2 states.

Kiana then tries to open the crack to the Imaginary Space, however, after the Binding event, her powers are still limited. During this time, Mei through the Honkai Consciousness connects with Kiana. They have a short reunion (not in-person) and Mei lends Kiana her powers. Successfully locating Otto in the Imaginary Space, Kiana and Dudu rages hell and succeeds.

During this last conversation with Otto, we then find out that Otto wasn’t as bad as we make him out to be. In order to revive Kallen, he made a bet – that humanity will be able to defeat the tree’s powers which is revered as a god. To which, Dudu and Kiana does successfully by defeating Otto who is a servant of the tree utilising the tree’s powers. We then cut to Otto walking towards his death and the final CG)

(So if I were to summarise in a Math equation, it would be:

Kiana + Dudu > Otto.

Since Otto = servant of the tree = has tree’s powers, Kiana + Dudu > tree and its powers)

I moved here in June 2020 to be with my now husband, and suffice it to say, COVID has gotten in the way of what we thought my California experience would be. We are now expecting and due in March. We’re likely going to move to the Midwest (where I’m from) next fall. We don’t necessarily want to, but we can’t afford it here long term with housing, daycare, etc all trending up.

What should we have on our Sacramento/surrounding area bucket list before this baby comes, and maybe after they’re here? We love good food, nature, music, movies, art, books, animals — leave nothing out. What would you need to experience one last time if you left this area?

I finished the civil war quest ages ago and forgot all about these guys, but for some reason I was exploring the Blue Palace when I stumbled upon these happy campers. The Jarls of Whiterun, Morthal, Markarth, and Falkreath, plus their children and staff, all holed up in the basement of the palace, having taken refuge in the last safe place for them in Skyrim, only to be found defeated and homeless in the end.

It's kind of sad, really. Anyone know where the defeated Stormcloak Jarls go?

Just like everyone else in this sub, finding an MMO to play long term has been difficult.

I enjoyed ESO a decent bit but the combat put me off.

I enjoyed GW2 for a short while but I feel like it doesn't really invite players to do dungeons/side content. My GF and I have been playing together for a while now and the whole "Zone-questing" is getting severely repetitive and the gamea doesn't try to push me to other content other than "oah... You unlocked a dungeon... Well thats it go on now".

FFXIV was fun but I am not a fan of subscription based games. Let alone if the site is difficult to navigate and the game super tidious to buy... (Not accounting for it not being purchasable due server issue).

I am really sorry for posting here but I am losing my mind in my marriage and I really need help. I wanted to post this on the r/Islam sub which I have read through but because of the nature of my post I am worried they might encourage me to stay (which I have considered and I hold so much respect for people who choose to stay but I am not one of them) and my marriage is unsalvageable and emotionally abusive and if I stay any longer I might actually choose to kill myself.

I am in the UK and a 24 year old indian muslim female who got married 2 years ago. It was an arranged marriage and my parents were extremely strict to the point where every day even when I was in uni my mom still used to come around to fetch me. I don't have a good relationship with either of my parents but my sisters are extremely empathetic and they are the only ones I can talk to about my plight. I am also not as religious as I would like to be but I do believe in a god and follow through with salah and mosque prayers as necessary. During my marriage I was also not exactly allowed the privilege of choosing my partner, they would coerce me to "think twice" when choosing my partner and influence me on who they liked rather than who I liked.So we eventually we came to an understanding and I picked my husband. We only had 2 interactions before our marriage in the presence of my parents and he was rather quiet and uninterested.

I had a nursing degree and was working for a year when I was brought the marriage proposal and mentioned my desire to continue working. He seemed alright with it at first , so during the first 3 months of my marriage I was still working and then he mentioned wanting kids as soon as possible and expressed interest in me being a SAHM. I was not okay with this especially because I was not even ready to have children and wanted to hold off the idea till I became a senior staff nurse. He called up my parents and threatened to send me to live with them if I did not agree and called me vile names. They took his side and asked me to resign which I did.

Then came the constant barrage of requests to be sexual. My principle was to get to know each other emotionally for at least two to three years before being intimate. I have been lurking on this sub on my main account for a couple months, after my wife showed me a mainstream news article about it. A few weeks ago, someone pondered in a post about what psychologists think of the HCAs. I’ve got some free time this week, so I’m going to tell you.

I don’t claim to have any special insights, or to speak for all of psychologists. I don’t research vaccine hesitancy or persuasion, though I did studies on bias and decision-making in college long ago. I’m just a therapist who knows quite a bit about social psychology, and who has seen thousands of clients in my career, with all kinds of behaviours and diagnoses. This post isn’t comprehensive, I simply want to share some thoughts that I have had in the last few months. I’m cool with being corrected if you feel I have mistaken something or if you have something to add. I’m also not going to say much about convincing or talking to anti-vaxxers; there was a great AMA recently that was more informative in that regard than I can be.

Note: you may be aware of the replication crisis in social psychology, and I’m happy to talk about it in the comments. By sticking to overarching theories and how they relate to clinical experience, I hope not to get lost in the weeds of specific experiments that may or may not replicate.

Social Identity Theory - This theory says that we all tend to categorize people into in-groups and out-groups. This boosts our self-esteem, gives us meaning, and resolves uncertainty or ambiguity. “So many people share my values and attitudes, so how could I possibly be wrong!" We communicate our belonging to the in-group by expressing our shared beliefs, ideas, and values with other members. Memes and profile overlays are not so much about persuading the out-group (in this case, usually “Libtards,” democrats, people who wear masks, doctors). They are about the HCA confirming to themselves and their group that they belong. The dread of being rejected by the in-group is too much to bear, especially for those HCAs who post endless memes. This also explains why the memes don’t just involve COVID and vaccines, but also homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, and racist stuff as well. It’s all about communicating which group you belong to.
