A list of puns related to "Redbreast"
Going to treat my Dad to a nice bottle and contemplating Redbreast 12 or Yellow Spot?
What's the consensus?

Since when did Redbreast 12 become hard to find? I feel like I always saw it in VA ABC. Of course now that my bottle is nearly gone I canβt locate it. What gives? Please tell me this isnβt the next allocated whiskey.
Redbreast is probably my favourite Irish whiskey with a winning combination of Pot Still and Sherry that is hard to beat. Itβs a brand that has grown from strength to strength in the last 15 years but it wasnβt always that way with Redbreast almost disappearing for good in the 1980s. What a loss to Irish whiskey that would have been!
Irish Distillers took over the brand from Gilbeyβs and in 1991 relaunched Redbreast 12 to great acclaim. In 2005 a once-off 15 year old version of Redbreast was produced for La Maison du Whisky as part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations in Paris. Becoming a sought after bottling by collectors it was soon introduced as a regular release and the following year it won the coveted Irish Whiskey of the year.
Tonight Iβm trying that original once-off Redbreast 15 La Maison du Whisky (LMDW). Midleton have a number of pot still distillate types with different characteristics. Trad Pot Still Distillate is oily and creamy, Mod Pot Still is creamy and fruity and Light Pot Still is full bodied. Redbreast 15 (LMDW) is a Trad Pot Still Distillate.
A stunning nose up there with the best Iβve found from a Redbreast release. Peaches in abundance with more tropical fruits in the background. Orange peel, blackcurrants and wood spice. As stated this distillate is oily and creamy. White pepper on the finish. An older style of pot still with a slight leather mustiness to it.
The current Redbreast 15 is not a whiskey Iβm overly familiar with and I think it has been overshadowed by the similarly priced Redbreast 12 Cask Strength which for me is one of the best Irish whiskeys available. I do have a sample that I will try soon as a comparison.
I tried an older Green Spot recently and that was a different beast to the more modern Pot Still. The Redbreast 15 (LMDW) has more in common with that than the current Redbreast 15 I would imagine.
This is a gem of a whiskey and one I would highly recommend to seek out although expect to pay up to β¬300 for a bottle at auction.

I am finally in the position to pay $80+(CAD) for a bottle and Iβm looking at Redbreast 12. I was wonder if the ~20% price increase is worth it for the Cask Strength edition or if I should just go with the original Redbreast 12?
Iβve been nursing my bottle of 12 yr as I havenβt been finding many bottles in the wild. Well I finally came across a bottle of cask strength and could stop myself (why would I?). Anyways, Iβm just excited and sharing that Iβm looking forward to opening it.
Title says it all. I know this was a limited release from Redbreast. Anyone try it? Know where to find it?
Not many reviews out but seems like a more intense Lustau which I enjoy.
Thanks!
Keep in mind that I usually spend $60 (CAD) or less on whiskey. Anything more would be expensive. Saying that, Redbreast has been my #1 wish list item forever. Opinions on Redbreast 12 vs 12 Cask Strength. The 12 is going for $80, and cask for just over $100. Which would you go for? Is the cask strength worth it?
Just got notice that a few Redbreast skus will be increasing beginning of next month - at least down here in SoCal - and thought I'd give the community a little heads up. 12yr will stay relatively the same but $15 increase on 15yr, $20 on 12yr CS, and $45 on 21yr. I'm a big fan but ~$100 for a 12yr CS might be too much for me to swallow. I'd stock up now but oos of course...
Hello all. I've been lurking the various whiskey subs for about a year now, sampling a variety of whiskeys while enjoying all the insightful reviews. I started exploring scotches first, but I gradually shifted to bourbon given the wider selection available to me in the USA. Eventually I also stumbled in to Irish whiskey which has quickly become one of my favorite categories. Anyway, after about a year of tasting whiskey I've decided what better time to write my first review than with Redbreast 27 year? This is my second pour from the bottle and as such I wanted to pair it with the other Redbreast varieties I own: 12 year and 15 year.
I originally purchased the 27 year about a month ago after accepting a new job offer. I would have gone with the 21 year, but I knew the 27 year was available in my area and wasn't sure how easy it would be able to find in the future. It's also fitting given that I celebrated my 27th birthday a few days ago.
As mentioned earlier, this is my first review and I'm still developing my palate, so please go easy on me! That's enough back story, let's get in to it.

Redbreast 12 Year
Price: $55
Nose: I find the notes on the box to be quite accurate. Lots of dried fruits and spice. There's also a hint of grass in there, maybe hay but I can't quite find the right word for it.
Palate: To be honest I always struggle getting notes out of the taste. I find it easier to identify flavors in the nose. This pour drinks quite easily, but the spice flavors take over after a few seconds. That being said, it's a delightful taste and remains smooth despite the spice. It's always something I enjoy coming back to.
Finish: Dry but lingering finish. There's nothing new popping out at me, but it's a pleasant ending to a wonderful pour.
Final Score: 7.5 - it's delightful whiskey at a great price point considering the age and distance from my purchasing location.

Redbreast 15 Year
Price: Around $ 115 (purchased a few months ago and I don't quite remember)
Nose: Similar to the 12 year, but both more subtle and complex at the same time if that makes any sense
... keep reading on reddit β‘On this sub, I've seen a few folks claiming that Midleton is dropping the age statement from the RB 12yr Cask Strength bottle. I can't find any information backing this up, and I'm assuming they're confusing the limited release, NAS Small Batch Cask Strength as being a replacement of the original 12yr Cask Strength release. All that being said, with Single Pot Still whiskey popularity and demand taking off, this certainly could become a reality. Does anyone actually have any knowledge of this currently taking place?
I had a dram of Redbreast 12 with my wife for our anniversary last year and due to being a full time student and only working part time the price is prohibitive to me at about 70 in the liquor stores around me. So I was wondering if there is something in the 35 to 50 area that would be similar in taste and experience?
Hey everyone,
I can get the cask strength for about $80 locally. I really enjoy the 12. I LOVE the biscuit and butter notes. The spicy notes initially bothered me but I've come around on them. Still prefer the butter though as my favorite part.
My question is if it's worth trying the cask strength. From what I've read, the butter note is actually really amped up, and even if you add water, it really comes through. That sounds super appealing to me, but wanted to make sure that was accurate and that the spiciness wasn't super amped up too. Just curious what the differences are. Can get the lustau too for like $55.
Thanks!!
Hi all! So I'm expanding my palate to try Irish whiskies. Though I have tried the standard Jamesons, Bushmills and some Teelings, I haven't tried the single pot stills which are supposed to be way better.
Now in my area, Redbreast 12 and Yellow Spot ar priced at $65.
Which one seems to be the better of the two?
So, I just searched "Redbreast" on the LCBO website, as I obsessively do almost every day, to see if the 12 CS is back in stock. Generally I am met with a bunch of red X and a "Sorry, the item you are searching for is not available in any stores" message, but today the listing is altogether gone. This could either mean that they finally removed it from the site because they have no intention on every restocking it, or perhaps they are about to restock and will be listing the product anew... which one will it be?

This is my first whiskey review, so kind and constructive advise/criticism is wished for :-) (Also not a native english speaker just to say sorry in advance)
The Redbreast 27 was my first irish whiskey finished in a red wine-cask and i always wanted to find something comparable in a lower price range.
So when i saw that Teeling has a Single Grain 13y finished in Bordeaux Red Wine Casks i had to try it and compare it to my all time favorite.
So without further ado:
RB27 Nose
Smooth, oily, heavy, floral, vanilla, old and ripe berries
A tiny bit of Citrus, a tiny hint of orange
SG13 Nose
Grass, more citrussy, vanilla, spicy
Comparrision on the Nose
SG13 is lighter, more aggressive, more alcohol, some but not much red wine, less floral
Both have the same amount of oak to me
You really feel the age difference, where the RB27 is much more refined and subtle the SG13 is awake and ready to take you places.
No Water has been added to any of these.
RB27 Taste
It warms my heart like no other whiskey.
very smooth taste, you get a lot of vanilla, buttery single pot still sweetness with some extra dark fruit in there.
What really gets you is the after-taste.
I could spend hours with a small glass of this whiskey and enjoy the taste of it long after it has passed my lips
In the after-taste you smell most of the wine and heavy dark fruit notes.
Clearly a whiskey for a fine evening to relax and fondly think about the good things in life.
The port-wines notes stay the longest, at the very end i get some citrus and red-wine notes that hint at me to get another sip of this wonderfull drink.
I see myself sitting in a big leather chair alone in a dimly lit mainson-library enjoying this whiskey to fine classical music.
It just oozes class like no other irish i know.
SG13 Taste
on the taste i get a lot more spice and buttery biscuit notes compared to the RB27.
Its less refined but very lifely.
The taste changes fast from oily, buttery and heavy cream to more spice and floral notes.
it leaves behind a great after taste and slowly reveals more citrus and red wine notes.
I can see myself drinking a glass of this whiskey after a dinner in the pub late in the evening with my mates.
Its a younger more refreshing taste but still has a lot of darker notes to offer than you traditional irish.
Taste comparrison
