A list of puns related to "Raingutter Regatta"
This year we are making a change to how we run the Raingutter Regatta. Weβve always had it during a regular pack meeting but now want to move it to a stand-alone event like the pinewood derby. Because we canβt have all the boys racing at once, weβre trying to think of activities we can have the other dens do while theyβre waiting their turn. Do any of you have any ideas? I figured a small knot tying station focused on sailing knots. What else? Itβs going to be held outside.
Reviewing out calendar for next year and the rain gutter regatta came to mind. I'm pretty sure blowing through drinking straws will not be an option due to coronavirus. Any other propulsion methods come to mind? I thought about using hand fans. Any other options come to mind?
First time running a raingutter regatta. The only thing that currently has me stumped is the possibility of having an odd number of scouts participating. The plan is to have double elimination in each individual den. What do I do with that one odd scout?
If anyone is looking for free software for scoring pinewood derby and raingutter regatta races, check out http://pinewoodraceday.com
It works with both elapsed time and point systems.
I would love to have some feedback on ease of use, and suggestions on improvements.
This past week our COR contacted me privately asking me to resign as the Cubmaster of the pack my children are enrolled in (Wolf and Lion). This came as a shock as I only started in this role four months ago (all during COVID), I have organized and hosted two major activities that I received a ton of positive feedback for (pinewood derby and raingutter regatta) despite not being able to meet indoors and having access to our usual resources, I have receive no negative feedback about my service, and the COR is also my Wolf son's Den Leader and he has demonstrated abysmal leadership, only planning two Den meetings in the 15 months since COVID started. This COR/DL even went so far as to ostracize my son at their September 2020 den meeting, when the the DL asked the den to come in a close circle but my son was insistent on maintaining 6-feet social distancing. Part of the reason I accepted the invitation to be Cubmaster was to facilitate change in the Wolf den, and in the past few weeks was delighted when we identified another parent to serve as Den Leader (or maybe ADL) to take on some of the responsibilities.
I contacted the CC and she indicated that she has been getting complaints that she did not pass on to protect me, but that she agrees that I should resign. They indicated they were coming to me now so they could have a transition in June, at the transition between Scout years.
Is this completely something that is up to the COR and CC? Should this be something that is presented to the committee? I feel it sets a bad precedent and would discourage people from accepting volunteer positions in the future.
My understanding is that the COR is responsible for making sure leaders are appropriate for the position, but this entire situation seems so foreign to me. I have been part of two previous BSA groups as a leader, first as Scoutmaster of a troop, and then as Committee Chair of a pack, and in both situations we were eager to get leaders and willing to help them improve. I feel this is the complete opposite. I have not violated any part of the GTSS, the Scout Oath, or the Scout Law. The reasons that were given for why I should resign were things like, 1) I left the address of an event off of one of the three forms of communication we use in the Pack (it was in the other two), 2) parents have expressed the weekly email has too much information and they don't know what is going on, 3) I have other young children so they think I must be too busy, and

If so, did anything take its place? Space Derby, Raingutter Regatta?
Over the years Iβve seen PWDs practically split packs apart, undo friendships, & make kids cry. Just wondering if itβs simpler and healthier to drop that element entirely.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
