Hey everyone! Another Sunday, another LSC pub quiz! While August saw some fantastic wins, last week marked the beginning of a long-promised downward spiral - although still with a very solid 3rd place finish. Can LSC turn it around in the new month?
On a serious note, this is just a fun social event, we aren't a competitive group and don't take ourselves too seriously! All levels of British trivia knowledge (or lack thereof in my case as a non-Brit) are very welcome.

Call for ProposalsThe organizing work toward racial justice, shifting culture, and delegitimizing racist institutions requires multi-racial, cross-class participation. Enacting these shifts in localized writing classroom contexts includes โchang[ing] the way that power moves through white racial biases,โ as called for in Asao Inoueโs 2019 CCCC chairโs address. Inoueโs charge spotlights the dialogic relation between individual learning and the contexts where learning occurs. This relation informs human practices for and values abouthowandwhywe write; it implores us to understand context as inseparable from ontological and epistemological structures for knowing and being, including those that have been historically dominant and/or marginalized. Inoue specifically calls on his colleagues to actively disrupt white supremacist frameworks for writing and re-invent intentionally antiracist disciplinary and pedagogical practices for teaching and assessing writing.
In this collection, we take up this call to explore and theorize the radically antiracist epistemological foundations necessary for (re)framing our writing pedagogies as part of transfer and transformation of writing knowledge across contexts.ย What does a radically antiracist writing transfer curriculum look like? How can we (re)theorize transfer in ways that, as Bettina L. Love (2019), suggests, give students and instructors theย โlanguage, understanding, and, hopefully, co-conspirators not only to fight, but also to demand what is needed to thriveโ? (147).

Radical Conversion
Let a man be soundly converted, and certain things will begin to happen in his life.
He will experience a turning about of the whole life toward God and heavenly things.
Though he will undoubtedly suffer from the inward struggle described in the seventh chapter of Romans, yet his direction will be established beyond any doubt and his face will remain turned toward the City of God.
That word direction should have more emphasis these days, for the most important thing about a life is its direction. David hardly said anything more significant than this: I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
And the Hebrews' writer summed it all up in one sentence, Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
An emotional conversion which stops short of Christ-orientation is inadequate for life and death, and, unless new help comes from some quarter, it may easily be worse than no religious experience at all. And just this would appear to be the source of our bad orientation.
When religious leaders (at large) found that they had on their hands half-converted religious persons who wanted to be saved but would not turn fully to God, they tried to meet the situation by providing a twilight-zone religion which did not demand too much and which did offer something. Better have them halfway in, they reasoned, than all the way out. We know now how bad that reasoning was.
