A list of puns related to "Ptah"
I promise this is Hellsing related. Back in the early 2000's there was a fan comic. A doujinshi. It was under the name Erin Ptah. I read it as a young child as I watched Hellsing very young, like 11/12. It was the days of old internet and ff.net so there wasn't much to be found.
I just wanted to know if anyone else had had the chance to enjoy this silly fancomic of yesterday.
The other week there were a ton of articles about the discovery of the tomb of Ptah-M-Wia, the head of the treasury and supervisor of cattle for Ramses II. And something in the accompanying image of a procession of livestock for sacrifice caught my eye. (Full Article).
The idea that the red heifer ritual may have connected to Egyptian influence has been being thrown around since the 17th century with Spencer, De Legibus Hebrae- orum cited in Smith, The Red Heifer (1936) (PDF):
> Spencer in his extended discussion of this subject begins by saying that no one will think this a new rite or one contrary to the custom of antiquity. He then adduces the Egyptian parallels and finds them of such a nature that there must be connection of Egyptian and Hebrew usage. His theory is that God designed to oppose and contradict heathen superstitions. With reference to the red color, for example, he discusses various theories that have been advanced only to find them unsatisfactory. But from Plutarch he ascertains that the Egyptians offered red bulls to Typhon and also that red cattle were sacrificed, on the theory that the souls of wicked men migrated into them. On the other hand cows were sacred to Isis. Putting the facts together Spencer argues that the heifer was chosen in order to bring the Egyptian "vaccine cultus" into contempt, that she was to be red in order to show that God would accept a sacrifice despised by the Egyptians, and finally that there was a purpose to expiate the worship of Typhon to which the Israelites had been addicted in Egypt.
The concept that this ritual was in opposition to the sanctity of the cow was again brought up in Newman, Understanding the Mystery of the Red Heifer Ritual (PDF):
> Rabbi Moshe ha-Darshan explains that the rite of burning the Red Heifer was a reenactment of the destruction of the Golden Calf at the foot of Mount Sinai. Thus, it would also be a symbolic destruction of the cow-goddess Hathor which the Golden Calf represented. [...] Seen in this light, the Red He

Family: Ptah was thought to be the brother-husband of Sekhmet and Bastet, and the father of Nefertem and Maahes. Sometimes he was considered to be the husband of Tefnut or Wadjet, the father of Imhotep, Anat, Astarte, and the creator of Atum, Sia, Hau, Khnum, and Hauhet.
A very ancient creator god, the patron to those who would utilize the spoken or written word in their duty (as Ptah made gods by his words.) He was unique amongst Egyptian creation gods in that his methods were intellectual, rather than physical β he created βwith his heart and tongue.β His power was thought to manifest itself in the living, as the sound of oneβs heartbeat. Ptahβs importance may be discerned when one learns that βEgyptβ is a Greek corruption of the phrase Het-Ka-Ptah (Aigyptos), or βHouse of the Spirit of Ptah.β

This is somewhat an unfortunate choice, because giants are generally not space-faring, and I do not wish to nerf my cleric by sending him to only crystal spheres where he will be powerless. I would surely have warned the player of this, but didn't fully understand the setting when we began, and didn't realize the potential problem.
My thought is to fold Annam and Ptah together. Their portfolios are essentially identical, and Annam has not been engaged with the folk of Realmspace for centuries. He was said to have wandered the universe creating gods and worlds at will before history began, and much the same is said of Ptah. Ptah's worshippers often claim that creation deities, such as Ao, are merely aspects of Ptah - it stands to reason that they would say the same of Annam. In addition to that, the spacesea giants (the only giants that live in Wildspace, to my knowledge) pray to Ptah rather than Annam, suggesting that the belief systems are transferrable, if not identical.
Am I way off-base with this, or overlooking some essential piece of lore that renders these deities incompatible? I'd love to hear y'all's opinions.
