Land price is often the smallest part of the equation

Just a reminder to anyone shopping that land purchase price is only a piece of the puzzle.

For instance, an acre of raw land may be between $1,000-$100,000+. Generally, there’s a reason. An area where you can consistently find $1,000 acres is likely going to be one or more of the following things:

  • hard to get water
  • expensive to heat
  • expensive to cool
  • far from essential services you’re unlikely to find on a homestead like education and hospitals
  • very cold with a short growing season, have to be able to consistently remove snow
  • shortage of skilled labor in the area (plumbers, carpenters, electricians)
  • far from a market where a self sustaining person might needs to sell goods

Every one of these things can be mitigated. But it’s likely that a $10,000 acre will be far less expensive in the long run than a $1,000 one when you factor in the opportunity cost (time and money).

Here’s the decision tree I’ve seen many people looking to homestead fall into: look for all cheap land, buy something that’s affordable without considering all the costs, realize their mistake after already investing to the point where it’s hard to pivot.

Here is what I suggest you do instead: determine the type of climate you want to live in, narrow it down by state and create a short list, do research on possible areas that meet your cost requirements as well as taking all the other cost factors I’ve listed and any additional you might consider important to you, visit those places, then make your decision.

The first is a whole lot easier. The second will get you a lot further. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Spreadsheet I created that calculates call and put pricing on future dates and underlying prices using the Black-Scholes equation.

Download here.

There are 2 important spreadsheets, one for PUTS and one for CALLS. Enter expiration date, strike, volatility, interest rate, and dividend yield on the appropriate sheet, update dates in the various columns, and in cell B13 enter the estimated price you would like to start calculating options prices. It's a straightforward spreadsheet but the Black-Scholes equation was a bit of a pain to translate to Excel. It's fairly accurate on pricing and usually falls within the range of bid and ask for a given strike at a given price, YMMV.

Supply / Demand is the Silver Market equation. Paper Silver can only blur the Silver Market. If the Silver PHYSICAL market is undersupplied the price will rise. This "the dollar is up so Silver is down junk" will be relegated to the history bins.

It might be a business opportunity for someone to accommodate the buying of Comex 1000 oz bars.

Because that’s another pinch point. When Silver gets hammered in the paper market that should be offset with demand coming in for delivery of Silver. The lower price should get arbitraged.

However it sounds like taking delivery is such a drawn out process people can't just jump in and buy. Thus is how they have controlled the market.

From Facebook. Land price equation. Price can only go up.

Tile Price Equation Just to put it out there upfront, I'm a genius. The price of a tile is only dependent on the total number of sold tiles in the country and is dictated by the following formula: Price = 0.1e^(x) Where x is the number of sold tiles in 100,000s. For example: USA has 591659 tiles sold, so Price = 0.1e^(5.91659) = 36.77. With this information you can now predict the price changes that may be caused by future buying. For instance, how many more tiles need to be bought until the USA reaches $100 a tile? Price = 0.1e^(6.9) = 99.22, so at around 690,000 tiles sold the price will be $100. This equation holds true for all countries. Please stay tuned for other stunning revelations like... how does land income tax actually work. (Spoiler: the percentages widely held as being correct are off the mark by an order of magnitude)

Is there an MMT theory of prices model/equation?

I know that there are some post Keynesian theory of prices such as shown in http://www.levyinstitute.org/pubs/wp_759.pdf and http://www.doiserbia.nb.rs/img/doi/1452-595X/2019/1452-595X1903277A.pdf.

Does MMT have its own theory of prices model/equation? I know that in the MMT macroeconomics textbook, MMT debunks the Quantity Theory of Money, but I don’t recall MMT offering its own version of prices in equation/model form.

Program/Device/Application/Website Needed for Utilizing a Equation to Determine Prices of a Service Provided!

Hello Everyone!

I’ll start with establishing that I am a Tattoo Artist, and in order to price my work properly without the interference of insecurity or greed. I constructed this equation and all of its various data in order to let the numbers price my work, instead of leaving it up to me to screw myself over cause I’m worried I’ll ask for too much etc. this equations use has been extremely successful in the past 4 weeks, however I am looking for a much easier way of utilizing it, whether it be through a program, an app, or a website. Any help would be appreciated! I do not need assistance with the equation(unless y’all see some janky math in there, let me know, pls). But I do need a medium in which I can utilize this equation. And anyone who freelances and has to price their own products, you’re more than welcome to utilize this stuff, I hope it helps out people the way it’s helped me!

I am in search of one of the following; a computer program, website, portable device, or an iOS App Store application that is able to utilize the equation below. I will say that an iOS application would be the most ideal, as all of my work is done almost exclusively on my iPad. I do however own a TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator. I am not even remotely savvy with it at all and will have to try and locate it...I do apologize if this is a daunting post.

  • The solution will require the following capabilities:
    • This solution must be able to utilize multiple datasets. As fluidly as possible.
      • Amongst the variables in the equation below; B, S, & H, are each representative of individual sums that are independently derived from their respective data sets.
    • Must be able to receive inputs that will remain constant.
      • This requires the ability to change the input, periodically.
    • Must be able follow the rules of the equation properly in order to receive an accurate result.

The Most Ideal Solution: * Allows me to input all of my predetermined data into their individual tables. This data would indefinitely remain constant. Unless a change is necessary. However the tables are intended to have permanent level of integrity. * Each table will utilize a β€˜drop-down menu’ style capability in order to select from the varying options from each of the tables that are represented by the variables in the equations. * The equation will then pull the data that has been selected from each of Variable’s β€˜drop-down menus’ and will then run tho
