Converge - Petitioning the Empty Sky Review
So in keeping with my promise here's the oldest album I could find on Spotify. It's their remastered version, hence why it's stated to have come out in '05.
This album is odd, it's very much a hardcore punk record with many experimental add ons.
Instrumentals: 9/10
Vocals: 7:10 (For a majority of the album, even with it's age, Jacob has a signature vocal style, however on a few songs there is very odd sound he makes in songs like Albatross and Dead which were hard to listen to personally.
Lyrics: 10/10the overlying theme is that of a past relationship however the protagonist is very disturbed and begs her to come back. He's heartbroken completely and it's some of the best lyrics I've ever seen.
Overall: 8/10
It definitely shows it's age but this is not an album to skip over. The live tracks especially showcase the amazing performance from Converge and is a blast to listen to.

I pointed my backyard telescope at a seemingly empty part of the sky for 7 hours to get this image. This is a part of the extremely faint dust surrounding the Taurus constellation, and the nebula in the middle of the picture is known as 'Baby eagle nebula'. Can you make out the baby eagle?

Maybe 20% full flight. C+ was empty so didn’t use miles to upgrade to D1 and got a Ghetto lie flat seat…but it worked! Got to sleep and then took out laptop, got a drink and snack and iPad as 2nd monitor and set up my office in the sky. Not a bad way to travel

Petitioning the Film Industry to boycott BYU’s arts programs
Hello All!
I am posting from an anonymous account to protect my privacy. I work in the film industry and have worked for major studios on various projects, including some well known productions that are beloved by Utahns if streaming & subscription statistics are considered.
My experience in Hollywood has taught me that a large percentage of people who work in film, TV, writing, animation, audio/scoring, etc are LGBTQ+. In fact, I have been on several productions where the majority of the crew were LGBTQ+. Up to 25% of people working in the industry identify as LGBT according to recent surveys.
Many universities often hold 'industry days' or 'portfolio days' and host talks by representatives to connect alums to the industry. BYU's arts programs invite & sponsor industry recruiters to scout for artistic talent from their music, performing arts, animation, film & other programs. I am considering writing a petition of sorts that asks these studios to reconsider their invitations and interest in BYU's art programs and industry recruiting efforts. The rationale is that BYU has fostered an atmosphere that is hateful and discriminatory towards their LGBTQ+ students. There are many examples of this, both historic and recent, including incidents of hate crimes towards these students as well as recent policies banning the expression of LGBTQ+ students on campus and beyond.
- I am not opposed to individual BYU alums seeking connections to the industry, but I think any events or programs sponsored by the school should be boycotted as a show of solidarity against their policies and hopefully encourage or inspire change.
I am strongly considering this in light of recent policies regarding expression. My question is, is it legally or morally justified to petition an industry to boycott a university's talent recruiting efforts? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks everyone
