A list of puns related to "Pallet Racking"
Right now I have workbenches spanning the entire back wall of my 22'x24' garage. It's a bunch of different homemade benches from my past garages, the old kitchen counters/cabinets from the 70's, and some crappy wooden wall-mount shelves. Overall, it looks like total shit, it's a mess, and I'd like to replace it with one continuous bench that spans the entire width. Now obviously I could just build a big workbench, but I'm intrigued by the possibility of using pallet racking instead, similar to this. I like the idea of using a middle shelf as a workbench, and then being able to add higher and lower shelves for storage. I figure I can just add drawers or cabinets to those shelves for more compartmentalized storage as I see fit.
Has anyone here done this or looked into doing it? If so care to share your experience?
Not a common term, so "Pallet Racking" are the metal storage shelves they use in industry and stores. They often come in large sizes, are fully metal, and are strong welded pieces with many attachment points. Industrial look. They can be purchased cheaply sometimes in the used market compared to other less useful metals.
So, I couldn't find anything about anyone using metal such as this for a catio. I have a brick house, and it would make an addition costly and strange, but I've warmed to the idea lately of making the entire back side of my house screened in. Perhaps solar panels for the roofing.
I believe the idea with a catio is to keep the cat inside and the larger pests outside. So, some small air gaps between solar panels wouldn't be a big deal? The floor would either be concrete or composite deck, which has been exposed to outdoor forever anyway.
With the price increases in wood I was looking for alternatives. Thanks for reading.
We run an IT company and we therefore have a lot of small piddly parts that are in tiny sterilite bins ranging from 12 quart sized clear bins to the big 30 gallon tubs. Currently we have small shelving, but we are moving into a building that has quite large pallet racking (14 feet apart 42" deep and I can adjust the height).
I see some cool premade solutions out there, like pull out pallet drawers, but they are way too expensive for us to feasibly implement cost effectively. (see image)
What are some good solutions we could use to organize a ton of tiny parts on our large pallet racking?
BESIDES Speedrack and central iron and metal? Anyone? It's a small project and I don't want or need new.
Edit: Reddit didn't come through for me on this one, but a random stranger did. Check out American Storage and Logistics at 1661 Monroe Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49505
James had almost everything I needed, but his prices were good enough that alternatives were affordable. AND SAME DAY!
