A list of puns related to "No Fixed Address"
I do get why banks generally require a fixed address, but this model seems like it could work well here too. It is a step in the right direction, and it gives the homeless self empowerment while also making sure that they check in with their case worker. Its a win-win.
Edit: Just to add another point for people asking why banks would be willing to risk this: 1) It's a relatively low financial risk, and high marketing upside move. 2) If even 15%-20% of these people end up opening an actual account for themselves because of the opportunity that a bank gave them, I can pretty much guarantee which bank they are going to stay with for life.
Hello sorry for the question but I do not have a fixed address and therefore can not take online deliveries. I looked into it and auspost offer post office pick up service but no dimensions must be larger than 105cm which is just a bit too small. Are there any other companies that offer a similar service? Located in Vic if that affects anything.
Thanks in advance
Weβve sold our home and are moving out Friday into an AirBnb for a few weeks. The home we were purchasing is highly likely at this point to fall through or be significantly delayed so we need some time to sort ourselves out with a longer term rental or a new purchase. Finding a let which is unfurnished and would take our 2 cats is hard.
We need our car to travel to work, and itβs insured and registered at the address we are selling. Since we donβt know where we will be staying from week to week/month to month, how do we stay legal here? We are with Admiral if it matters.
Thanks!
As above really. If I were to take early retirement, buy a motorhome and rent my house out to fund my travels, how can I still get my repeat prescriptions and care for my long term conditions?
To make a long story short, I owe some money to my old university and have been making my payments, however recently I moved out of my house and have been couch surfing with some friends, and I have no fixed address.
I get an email from a debt collectors agency asking me for my current address, I email them back asking why they are contacting me and not my university making contact, Iβm confused as I have been making my payments every month. The collectors email me back saying the university has asked them to contact me so that they can get my most recent address for correspondence.
What do I say to them? I canβt give my friends address either, as they wouldnβt feel comfortable with it, and I donβt have any family. Do I just tell them I have no fixed address, please speak to me via email?
[TLDR] I want ti move Interstate but don't have an address. I recently packed all my gear Into the back of ute and moved Interstate to seek employment and greener pastures. Its been about a month and I have used up all my "phone in" appointments and emailing job search and outcomes of interviews, to Job search provider. They insist that i now either have to return home for a face-to-face interview or change address and register with new job search provider. If i don't do these things, i will get cut off from payments. As I have been applying for jobs all over the country (Brisvegas, Darwin, Melbourne, Cairns etc...), I don't want to take on a fixed rent term unless I know I am going to stay. i want to keep my options open. I also don't want to return to home address as there are no jobs. Yes i heard of the Internet and online applications. I just cant sit around all day writing key capability statements. Is there any job search providers that would facilitate non-permanent address or ability to report to different offices out of city registered in?
I can't imagine my situation to be that uncommon, yet I can't find much advice on the internet. I'll try to be as brief as I can.
I'm a EU citizen moving back to my home country after living in the UK for nearly 4 years. Next week I am "moving" to a hotel for the last week before flying out. The lease of my current place ends on the 31st, which means I'll be without a fixed address for a week. Am I correct?
I'm looking for one way travel insurance that would cover my belongings, but I don't have a fixed address which is what insurers ask for. I can't get one from my home country either because I'm not a permanent resident there right now.
Should I be looking at just for an insurance that covers for accidental damage to belongings? I really just want to cover my new laptop that cost me a lot of money.
***EDIT
Just to follow up, I opened a basic HSBC bank account the second day I got here. The first day I went into a branch to inquire after Lloyd's turned me down and the lady at HSBC scheduled me an appointment a few days later but said I could walk in the next day and see if there anyone available.
I went in the next day and a HSBC rep set up my account. He used my Canadian address as my perm address and sent out my debit card to my hostel. Easy peasy
Hey r/UKPersonalFinance
Canadian here :)
Now I know this topic has been battered af on Reddit and from what I understand this situation varies from person to person so I'd really like to get some fresh insight on the matter.
Soo I'm moving to London from Canada early next month and plan on staying there for a year or so while working. I'm going to be entering using an EU passport giving the opportunity to live, work ect
When I first arrive I'll be staying at a hostel while I find a job and eventually look for a flat. I've read that opening up a bank account requires a proof of address. Do banks still commonly overlooked this it have things changed? Would a receipt with my name on it from the hostel suffice as proof of address since it kinda would be my defacto address temporarily?
This whole thing is kinda frustrating me and is a huge catch 22. I need a bank account to get paid, transfer monies to secure a permanent address but I also need a permanent address to get bank account lol
Thanks r/UKPersonalFinance <3
This is an great documentary on the current problems that Vancouver is facing where a good portion of the population who were raised in the city can no longer afford to live in the city. I'd love to provide more info but I couldn't afford YVR any more so left to the US and now cannot watch the documentary (I'm in the wrong region).
BTW, anyone know how to watch this from the US without having to sign up for a VPN?
i feel like the king of grand master dipshits. im 34 white male residing in Minneapolis. no job, no fixed address I got a 4th degree dui last year in Minneapolis . i completed the the drunk class, and got my license re-instated. still owe three days STS. Got a second 3rd degree dui a month ago in a random as county in mn . it will be a couple of months before i get charged though because of the blood work, so i could still complete the sts before the the due date.
both were because i have major anxiety issues and i medicate with marijuana. so i failed the sobriety tests, they took me to jail, found thc in my blood. i also have $400 in unpaid parking ticktes in collections that i soon will have no way to pay.
Im in the proccess of getting into inpatient and just going to bite the bullet and withdraw off opiods/benzos which i have been tapering for months.
are there legal aids i can use in MN? or free marijuana lawyers in mn? Will going to rehab help me look good in front of a judge? will i still be ordered to do a drug and alcohol assessment? can i avoid having to reinstate my licences if i no longer drive, as my insurance is already un affordable, i dont have a vehicle, nor will be affording one any time soon. since i violated probation already, should i still complete the community service? If i get a job after rehab but before jail, do i have to tell my current employer im going to jail? Since i violated probation i will have to serve 30 days in Hennepin county, which is where the parking tickets are from as well, and i got my new charge in Olivia Mn, were will i have to serve? should i notify Hennepin county of the violation? i will be working with a public defender in both cases. Im on the edge of suicide over this because i have found a lot of comfort in poverty, but now, what, end up totally homeless and in and out of jail for ever, burdening my loved ones? i feel seriously fucked and that ill be a too old to fuck before im a productive happy person again.
Is this an uphill battle to fight? We just bought this house and Google Maps says thereβs a Drive after my street name, but USPS doesnβt have any indicator. I know this may seem silly, but itβs actually screwed us up with homeownerβs insurance premiums and I want it corrected. Help!
What is the best way to get a credit card without having a permanent address? You cant get one with a PO box, and the FedEd boxes are $$$. Get it sent to a friend or family's house?
