A list of puns related to "Nihon Shoki"
The following is a link to an English translation of the Nihon Shoki, a record of Japanese history from the creation of the universe all the way through roughly 30 generations. It is considered the most accurate document representing early Japan and their myths.
I don't recommend reading past the first two scrolls, because it gets really boring. Like, more boring than reading the Bible.
So, without further ado, I present: The Nihon Shoki
I've been grinding rounds as Echo and Hibana to complete this challenge. I was able to get 3/5 rounds won but afterwards the challenge just stopped tracking my wins. I've done enough wins now to complete the challenge but the tracker still stays at 3/5. Is there any fix to this?
I want to read the Nihon Shoki and the Kojiki but I want to get the most used, most relied on, and most scholastic versions out there. I found the Kojiki published by Columbia University press. I found a Nihon Shoki translated by William George Aston who I know is a know Japanese scholar but I donโt know who Cosimo Classics are. Does anyone have advice or recommendations? I posted this at r/Japan and was told to come here for some reason.
From what I understand, they both record the history of Japan, beggining with the Shinto creation stories. They were also written only a few years apart. The only difference I've read about is that the Nihon Shoki explains "recent" (at the time it was written) history better than the Kojiki, but not much more. Are there any other noticeable differences between the two? Which one would be better if I'm interested in learning about ancient Japan?

Chapter 145, p. 9 - \"Apparently he [Kenjaku] was involved with Sukuna\".
I think it's a well established fact by now that Sukuna and Kenjaku are linked somehow. They're both from the same time period, both incredibly strong, Sukuna's retainer is hanging around Kenjaku, and it's even been mentioned by our lovely characters as seen above. Gege definitely has something up his sleeve.
However, I want to convince you that this link between them is probably stronger than you might think. To do this, I'm going to have to dig into mythology, folklore, and religion.
Now, I'm sure everyone knows that Sukuna is based off a legend in the Nihon Shoki and/or Nihongi. For those who aren't too familiar, here's the excerpt from my copy of Nihongi Vol. 1:
>"In the province of Hida there was a man called Sukuna, who was so formed that on one trunk he had two faces. The faces were turned away from each other. The crowns met, and there was no nape of the neck. Each had hands and feet. There were knees, but no popliteal spaces or heels. He was strong and nimble. He carried swords on his right and on his left side, and used bow and arrow with all four hands at once. On this account he was so disobedient to the Imperial command, and took pleasure in plundering people. Hereupon the Emperor send Naniha-neko Taka-furu-kuma, ancestor of the Omi of Wani, who put him to death." - Nihongi Vol. 1: Chronicles of Japan, trans. W. G. Aston (1896), p. 298.
He's portrayed as this monstrous tyrant. However, in Hida and local folklore, Ryomen-sukuna was considered a benevolent ruler who looked after agriculture and rebelled against the invading Emperor's army for his people.
Usually the research ends there, as there isn't much available in english. However, I would like to draw your attention to Enku's Buddhas, especially one carving in particular.
\"Seated Ryoumen Sukuna\" - Enku
Created near the end of his life, the carving of Sukuna was one of Enku's most detailed works. It was actually surprisingly difficult to find much substantial information about it. It was thought to be commissioned by the chief priest of Senko-ji Temple to appeal to those who knew Sukuna as benevolent.

I thought Iโd bring up the urban legend that Gege Akutami recently said inspired his Sukuna because I donโt think itโs been talked about in much detail before, and Akutami gave a different answer about his Sukuna references last May.
In JUMP #23 2020, when asked what references heโs used for the character, Akutami said his knowledge of Sukuna only comes from the Nihon Shoki and The Folklore Studies of Professor Munakata, and lately, he's realized he has to study more about him. But during the first part of the Mando Kobayashi interview in January, Akutami said Sukuna was only based on occult threads on the urban legend. We can only speculate why he changed his answer, but the urban legend was very clearly inspired by the Professor Munakata series, which was inspired by the Nihon Shoki and more.
The urban legend originates from a 2005 thread on 2chan where people shared real life scary stories and is known as the ใชใงใฆใกใณในใฏใ โRyomen Sukunaโ or ็ฉ้จๅคฉ็ โMononobe Tengokuโ story. Iโll provide a detailed summary at the end of this post if you donโt already know it. If you can read Japanese and want to read the original 2chan thread, it starts from 452. Thereโs a translation of a mobile video game based on the urban legend on youtube, but Iโm not sure if there are other English sources.
So ignoring the timeline of Akutamiโs answers, like the conjoined twins, Sukunaโs mummified fingers became cursed objects and Akutami depicted Sukuna as a (warning: photo of real mummy) sokushinbutsu in the first chapter. Sukuna could also be likened to Mononobe Tengoku for his affinity for casting curses to cause suffering and mayhem. But could there be other hints of Sukunaโs background? Uraumeโs presence suggests Sukuna could have some kind of following like Mononobe, and other cults have also appeared in the ser

In Jump #23 2020, when asked what references heโs used for Sukuna, Akutami said his knowledge of Sukuna only comes from the Nihon Shoki and The Folklore Studies of Professor Munakata by Yukinobu Hoshino, and lately, he's realized he has to study more about him. But months later on Mando Kobayashi Part 1, Akutami said that his Sukuna draws only from occult threads on the 2chan urban legend. However, the urban legend was very clearly inspired by the Professor Munakata chapter on Sukuna (Vol 2, File 7), which was partly based on the Nihon Shoki and Hida legend.
The Munakata Sukuna story was first published in the November 1996 issue of Comic Tom, so almost a decade before the 2chan post responsible for the urban legend. Sanskrit, mysterious non-Japanese, clans opposing the imperial court, human sacrifice, heretics/cultists, hidden underground chambers, and cannibalism all appear in the 2chan urban legend but were featured in Professor Munakata first, and the Munakata chapter could contain some sources of inspiration for our Sukunaโs origins.
(Summary of the Munakata chapter at the end of this post if you don't have access to it.)
The connection between the mythological Sukuna and the two-faced Agni is a theory most likely original to Munakata, but I think itโs an intriguing concept in the context of the fire technique Sukuna demonstrated during his battle with Jogo.
There has been speculation that Akutamiโs Sukuna could be loosely inspired by one of the other Hindu or Buddhist gods, such as Enma/Yama or Shiva (and Tengen and Gojo inspired by Brahma and Vishnu), and since the series is full of Buddhist references, why not a little Vedic inspiration, too?
Sukuna could also have some kind of cult or following that offered human sacrifices (like the โmealsโ prepared by Chef Uraume), which is suggested by Uraumeโs presence, and other cults have already appeared in the series.

Although it is classified as a legend, it is a story of gods, so I think it may be classified as a myth. It is a legend that can be traced back to the medieval Izumo myth. The synopsis is as follows.
Susanoo is a god that represents Japan. Tagorihime appears in Nihon Shoki.
A long time ago in the gods, a little girl on an ark arrived at the present Hashi Beach. She seems to be a child of a noble family from the appearance. She was picked up and raised by an old man and an old woman. The princess grew up in good health, but she didn't answer whatever she asked. When asked where she came from, she only points east. Without helping the old men and old woman, she spent all her time practicing bow and arrow. One day, when she saw a signal fire rising in the eastern sky, she finally revealed her identity. She was Tagorihime who was swept away by the rage of her father Susanoo because her heart was so rough when she was young. Izumo is struggling to be attacked by a country called Jura. She was told of Susanoo's dream that izumo would win if Tagorihime returned. The princess leaves Iwami to fight the enemy attacking Izumo, and she returns to Izumo. The old man and the old woman who were sad about it chased after the princess, but the princess hid in the shade of the rock and passed her old men. The old man and the old woman who lost sight of her princess were exhausted and died on the coast of Asari. After returning to Izumo, Tagorihime immediately repelled the soldiers of Jura. She was given the name of the Jurasetsunyo (Ten Rakshasa).
In the book I referred to, the name of the princess is Tagorihime. Another name for Tagiribime. Some books use the name of the princess as Munasukihime.
The rock that the princess hid is actually small.
This legend is based on the Yokyoku (Noh) "Misaki". The outline of "Misaki" is as follows.
Susanoo first appears, and Mongolia attacks Japan, so he says that he will try to prevent it. The northeastern corner of the Gesshi country was chipped off and washed ashore in Izumo. It is said th

People have been commenting over how these two would most likely fight based on their affinity of electricity/lighting, but I was reading upon the Nihon shoki and the kojiki (Japan's book of shinto Kamis and historical events), and Tesla's life so far they might line up. Susanoo was outcasted by his fellow kamis and sent to earth, where he reformed his ways (more or less) and went back to heaven as a better person, while Tesla dies a nobody (outcasted in his lifetime and losing to others) only after his death did they realize his greatness, considering most fights always go based on their life and their ideals of it, I think susanoo might look at life as warmness of being accepted as he changed his personality. While Tesla looks at life by the coldness of being a labeled a pariah as he never changed, wanting to win at life but remaining the same person.

Her nature as a "god/kami" is quite strong and her self-awareness of being a part of nature (the world) is quite intense.
She acts according to primitive desires.
She doesn't really feel like coming into contact with humans and their culture/civilization.
She makes a face as if she is unaware of the depths of alcohol, the delicacy of human lives, and the pleasure of indulging in a moment of insanity, however...
Once she immerses herself in desires, she will be completely unforgiving.
Without any incentive, she is harmless, but she could be said to be even more dangerous than Shuten-douji in a certain meaning.
Once her interest is piqued, she'll be strongly fixated on its object.
While the target of her interest exists, her eyes will always be fixed on them.
Usually, she'd stretch her long fingers towards them, touch them and destroy them completelyโโโor, she would corrupt them and guide them to their death.
The oni species to which her other aspect belongs to can easily pique her interest. Naturally, existences similar to her (children of a dragon god) would also make her eyes sparkle.

In "Nihon-shoki", during the year 644 AC, there was a new cult on the horizon deifying an insect. A shaman named ลube-no-ล [ๅคง็้จ ๅค] (n/a) from the Country of Suruga [้งฟๆฒณๅฝ] (modern day Central to Northeastern Shizuoka Prefecture) disguised himself as a Kannagi [ๅทซ่ฆก] (i.e.: religious priest) then went around preaching people to abandon their belonging and submit themselves to Tokoyo-no-kami [ๅธธไธ็ฅ] who then would grant the devotees with wealth and longevity as the poors becomes rich while elderlies would turn young again.
The devotees who converted to this cult gave up all their wealth to Tokoyo-no-kami as it was enshrined in its altar as the devotees praised the new deity with ecstatic dances. Their activities quickly caught the attention of Hata-no-Kawakatsu [็งฆ ๆฒณๅ] (below), the lord of the Country of Yamashiro [ๅฑฑๅๅฝ] (modern day Southern Kyลto), who then immediately persecuted ลube with the charges of scam.
After ลube was forced to abandon his religion, the former devotees of Tokoyo-no-kami praised Lord Kawakatsu going:
ใๅคช็งฆใฏใ็ฅใจใ็ฅใจใ่ใใใใใๅธธไธใฎ็ฅใใๆใกๆฒใพใใใ
"Lord Kawakatsu is indeed like the deity of all deities. For he subdued Tokoyo-no-kami."
Now, the reason why Tokoyo-no-kami is considered as a green worm (the larvae of Asian Swallowtail specifically) is because its description in "Nihon-shoki" describes it as "an insect that inhabits Citrus tachibana or Japanese pepper trees. It's the size of a thumb about 12cm/5 inches in length and has a green colored body with few black dots. It resembles a silk worm".
i've been trying to get into japanese mythology for a while now, i've just read the tales from japan folktales book and it was very nice. sadly, it lacked any stories about gods like susanoo and amaterasu, it also lacked any creation myths, something i really wanna read about. i know that the kojiki and nihon shoki have these stories, but they're written in verse and the translation is only making it harder, any new recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Japan is a country with a rich history spanning thousands of years. The 8th century CE sees the ushering in of written records in Japan with the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, and since that point the Japanese Islands have seen much change up until modern times. For much of this time, bushi/samurai played a central role in driving the events and conditions that the Japanese islands went through. This went beyond just the military side of things, with the effects of samurai reaching into the spheres of politics, religion, art & culture, economy, agriculture, etc. From their rise to center stage in the late Heian period, till the Meiji Restoration (1868 CE), samurai were directly involved in influencing many different aspects of Japanese history. ย Ghost of Tsushima is a game that is set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, but the development team at Sucker Punch sought for the game to not only engage in historical elements from this time period, but as well as pay homage to other periods of Japanese history. It is for this reason that todayโs panel includes many people whose area of focus covers many different periods, much of which do not deal directly with Mongol invasions of Japan. To best reflect the breadth and richness of Japanese history that the game could have drawn from, the panel group is able/happy to field questions from the Heian Period (starting in late 8th century CE) through to the Meiji Restoration (1868 CE). This includes various aspects of Japanese history such as military, political, cultural, religious, economic history, folklore and mythology, etc. Questions can be general/introductory level questions, questions on specific topics for the different periods, and everything in between. The panelists will look to satisfy questions and curiosities you may have to the best of their abilities.

The origin of Shinto dated back to very old, and it is thought that its prototype was formed from the Yayoi period to the Kofun period, starting from the Jomon period, because it is a naturally occurring idea based on the Japanese climate and Japanese lifestyle. This matches the historical era of queen Himiko, and the Kidou witchcraft she uses is said to be the prototype of Shinto magic.
Astronomical calculations revealed that a total solar eclipse may have occurred in northern Kyushu twice, on March 24, 247 and September 5, 248, close to the alleged death of Himiko and it may correspond to the story of Amaterasu was hidden in Amano-Iwato in Shinto myth.
Some scholars estimated that the time when Himiko lived and the time when Amaterasu lived overlap with each other, base on the average years of reign of the emperors. In addition, Himiko had a younger brother who was in charge of telling her people about her divination and orders, and Amaterasu also has a younger brother Susanoo. Both of them also were single. However this is still a subject of debate due to disagreement in the method of calculations. Interesting nonetheless.
One of Amaterasu's alternate name is "Ohirume no muchi", and the "ru" is the old particle in place of particle "no" in modern Japanese, thus Hirume means the girl (shrine maiden) of the sun aka ้ฝๅทซๅฅณ - Himiko which sounds similar to her actual name - ๅๅผฅๅผ.
Yamatai (the ancient kingdom ruled by Himiko) corresponds to Takamagahara - or Heaven where Amaterasu resides, with its rice farming culture.
However, there are also theories and counterarguments to these connections, such as the date of Amaterasu myth being created, the actual scale of Yamatai country, as well as the interpretation of the names. Her position and legitimacy in the whole ancient history of Japan is still unclear. And knowing Fate, even the most crazy theories can be reinterpreted and taken advantage of. For example, since Himiko's NP is her communicating with "a being that is not human" and "heard the voice of heaven", she might have been contacting a certain golden fox all this time for divination and advices, and then people later wrote the Nihon Shoki and Kojiki base on the tales of her life.

Like all Zoan fruit, he has three stages(There two routes you can go with this)The first route is that the user of the fruit looks the same in all of his forms (Humans, Hybrid and Beast/God)
The second route is that is Human form stays the same (Maybe he has higher body temperature but besides that everything practically the same)
In the Hybrid form
he grows at least 4-5 feet taller, grows two spiky red horns on the top of his forehead, his skin becomes slightly translucent letting them see that his insides became much brighter (His organs are covered by his flames)
In his Beast form/God form
He grows thrice as tall as he originally was(If he was 6 feet tall he would become 18 feet tall) his hair would spike up towards the sky and its colour would be reminiscent to that of flames. His horns would grow out of his forehead and curve backwards slightly.https://koei.fandom.com/wiki/Kagutsuchi?file=Kagutsuchi_%2528GT%2529.png (If you want a better idea of just how he looks like)
To give you a better idea of how tall he really is Whitebeard is 666cm taller aka 21'10" feet tall
Abilities*~The user of the fruit can choose what to burn and what not burn thus even if an ally were to be caught in the middle of one of his attacks they would not be affected by it~Being able to wield and control Fire to an ungodly level aka being able to make weapons out of it and shields out if it(Could even make a rope of fire with enough practice)*
~Immunity to heat/fire
~Resistance to Magma/Lava
~Being able to control the user of the Mera Mera no mi and Magu Magu no mi attacks (Since he is the God fire and creator of Volcanos even if unwillingly)
(Common stuff for most God Of Fire devil fruits)
Some of the weirder/out there abilities I think the user would have is
~If severally injured/lost limbs if they were to bath in a volcano they would be able to heal quicker/regrow limbs
~If the user sacrifices enough blood they are able to summon the gods that were birth from his blood (Kinda like Big mom special homies)
... keep reading on reddit โกI have been reading this manga for over a year and love it's lore and connections to mythology! In this thread, I want to speculate about Sukuna's abilities around the manga's ties to Buddhist and Hindu mythology, specifically around his depiction as an Asura.
If it looks like a duck...
First off, Sukuna's appearance is that of a two-headed and four-armed humanoid. A clear depiction of this is seen in the title page of chapter 117. This is a direct connection to the Asura in Buddhism, who "are described as having three heads with three faces each and either four or six arms." [Wiki Link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asura_(Buddhism)).
The above image of Sukuna also shows him holding a vajra and a trident or trishula, two weapons associated with traditional depictions of Buddhist and Hindu deities. Additionally, Sukuna is seen using a bow in chapter 116, and I will talk about this further down. With all this info, I think we have established a sturdy link between Sukuna and the Asura.
What were the Asura?
They were depicted as demigods in Buddhist mythology, who got their name because they were stricken down by the protector of Buddhism, [Sakra](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%9Aakra_(Buddhism)), after drinking the intoxicating alcoholic [sura](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sura_(alcoholic_drink)). Asura are not all evil, and some of them are actually benevolent beings. Perhaps the Jujutsu Kaisen story follows some of the mythology in some way, but I am thinking that it might only have minor parallels.
So what about Sukuna's abilities?
I'm thinking that the key to Sukuna's powers lie in the depiction of the trident, which can represent three trinitiesโspecifically in this case: creation, maintenance, destruction. Nevertheless, Sukuna having only two heads is very telling as well. The Trimurti is the combination of the three gods, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva (Creator, Preserver, Destroyer) which is depicted as having three faces on one body. I think that the lack of a third head on Sukuna belies his power imbalance. He has only shown preservation (healing powers used to restore Yuji Itadori) and destruction (this one is more obvious). His lack of any inclination towards creation (only destruction and self-preservation) is what makes him an

In the original kanji, it reads: ่กฃ้้ๅงซใป่่่ก, which is interesting as Sotoorihime is written ่กฃ้ๅงซ, and thus her NP can also read Sotoori no Iratsume. Probably for simplicity's sake they use merely Sotoori. Now, who was Sotoorihime, and what does she have to do with spiders?

> Sotori no Iratsume, Sotohori no Iratsume, and Sotoshi no Iratsume is a woman who has been handed down in the Chronicles of Japan. In the Nihon Shoki, she is referred to as Sotoshi no Iratsume, and in the Kojiki, she is referred to as Komi-Tsuirohime and Komi-Tsu-no-Miko, the name of another person in the relationship between her aunt and niece. She was an extremely beautiful woman, and her name comes from the fact that her beauty shone through her robes. She is also known as one of the three beauties of Honcho. She is said to have excelled in waka poetry, and is counted as one of the three Waka deities.
> The setting differs between the Chronicles.
> In the Kojiki, she is an alias of Emperor Yunko's princess Karu no Oiratsume, who violated a taboo that led to her having an affair with her older brother, Prince Karu no Hitsugi no Miko. For this reason, after the fall of Emperor Makoto, Prince Karu was disobeyed by a group of vassals and lost his position, and was exiled to Iyo, but Princess Kimitsu followed him to Iyo, where they met again and had a suicide pact (the legend of Princess Kimitsu).
> In the Nihon Shoki (Chronicles of Japan), she is described as Otohime, the younger sister of Emperor Makoto's empress Oshizaka Oonaka, and as a consort favored by Emperor Makoto. She was welcomed from Omi Sakata and entered the country and lived in Fujiwara Palace (Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture), but because of the empress' jealousy, she moved to Chinuginomiya (Chinuginomiya, Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture) in Kawachi, where the emperor continued to go to Princess Kimitsuiro's house under the guise of hunting. When the empress remonstrated and admonished him for this, his subsequent visits were said to have bec

If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
I have a hobby of tracing family trees, and one day I decided to trace royal family trees. I started with the British, then the French, then the Spanish. Now I am tracing the Japanese Emperors. I use Wikipedia and Google for the family trees, and I saw that the earliest Japanese emperors had lifespans going beyond Jeanne Calment (the oldest verified person at 122 years old). For example, the first Japanese Emperor, Jimmu, died at the age of 126, and Emperor Suinin was reportedly 138. Is this true?
Since it's currently Halloween season, I've decided to make a post about something related to this festivity; treats.
As a grandson of Ameno-hiboko [ๅคฉๆฅๆง] of Shiragi/Shinra [ๆฐ็พ ] (Southeast Korea), [Mamori Taji] (https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Tajimamori.jpg#mw-jump-to-license)[็ฐ้ ้ๅฎ] is considered as a Kami of Japanese sweets โ . According to "Nihon-shoki" [ๆฅๆฌๆธ็ด], Lord Taji was tasked to bring back a fruit called Tokijiku-no-kaku-no-mi [้ๆ้ฆ่] (or Citrus tachibana) from Tokoyonokuni [ๅธธไธๅฝ] (i.e.: a mythical land beyond Japan) in order for Emperor Suinin [ๅไปๅคฉ็] to achieve immortality.
Though Lord Taji returned to Japan after 9 years as he brought back the fruit and its tree's 8 branches with leafs on it and another 8 without the leafs, he was too late for Emperor Suinin already passed away. Out of sorrow and guilt for failing the emperor, Lord Taji committed suicide.
To commemorate his deeds, he's now a deity of sweets named Tajimamori-no-mikoto [็ฐ้้ๅฎๅฝ] enshrined in Nakajima Shrine[ไธญๅถ็ฅ็คพ] (Toyo'oka City [่ฑๅฒกๅธ], Hyลgo Prefecture) where dessert makers from all over Japan comes to pay their respect and even hold a festivity where 50+ different shops comes to display their fine sweets โก.

A pretty basic post but can anyone recommend any books on Japanese Mythology? I've done a bit of a search online but reviews are often mixed and somewhat conflicted as to what they cover, their approach and how in depth they are. Any suggestions appreciated.
Well, toucan play at that game.
Hello all I was wondering if there were any animals or flowers related to Izanami?

Shinto is the religion and way of life that originated among Japanese people and culture, formally known at least from the Asuka period ( 538 to 710 CE or sometimes 592 to 645 CE). In that period, it was formally given the name "Shinto" ็ฅ้ or "Way of the Kami" to differentiate itself from the foreign religion Buddhism that was introduced into the country at this time.
That being said; Shinto, Japanese people, and Japanese culture is initially believed to come from a mixing of a majority of two ancient peoples - the Jomon people and the Yayoi people. To put it simply, the mixing of these two peoples from the Yayoi period onwards (beginning from 300 BCE) culminating in the Kofun period (300 to 538 CE) led to Japanese culture and Shinto which are inextricably intertwined at their core.
It's said then, by the Kofun period, Shinto is likely to have existed as a religion and practice whereas before Kofun it was likely split between the ancient Jomon religion and the ancient Yayoi religion. Both Yayoi and Jomon practices and culture carried on over into Shinto and Japanese culture united.
Anyone can practice Shinto - but in practicing Shinto you *must* sincerely and genuinely learn about Japanese culture and tradition, and all the meanings and nuance. The two cannot ever be split, as they're intertwined with each other. If you try to take Japanese culture out of Shinto, it will cease to be Shinto.
Please be aware of this, and respectfully and humbly learn about the faith from shrines first and foremost, and also respecting those who've been raised with Japanese culture and Shinto practice. If you can do so, then there's no issue to practicing no matter who you are. In fact, there are shrines overseas as well as licensed priests who were not raised in Japanese culture but have sincerely dedicated to learn, and immerse in it to properly practice and transmit Shinto.
Thankfully Shinto has a system one can worship from afar and within their home, which will be explained in another post as this is a topic that requires a lot of studying and dedication to learn about to be transmitted properly and done so respectfully.
Shinto is not Pagan, it's a living religion in it's own right and has been for over 2000 years unbroken. Please be r

I don't recommend reading past the first two scrolls, because it gets really boring. Like, more boring than reading the Bible.
So, without further ado, I present: The Nihon Shoki
