Navarra Puns

Hello everyone! I would first like to apologize because I am sure this reddit gets questions about surnames all the time. However, I am a standstill in my research and thought this would be a good place to come to.

I have been doing research into my grandmothers last name, Navarra. I had always assumed it was a Basque last name since it is the name of the region of Spain. However, when researching sites, It seems only Navarro and Navarre are listed as Basque last names.

Is Navarra also a Basque last name and just not as popular? Was it changed over time to Navarra from Navarro? Or is it just a separate surname all together? Thank you all for any info you can give me.

I’m a U.S. college student interested in studying medicine in Spain, specifically at the University of Navarra. I was hoping any current or former students could tell me about the medical program for international students. From what I’ve gathered, if you’ve already studied up to a certain point in university then you’ll need to take the BMAT and also be fluent to a B1/B2 level in spanish to be eligible to apply.

1. Did you end up staying in Spain for residency, and if not where did you end up? I’ve read posts on this sub that indicate it is very difficult to get a residency in Spain.

2. Overall did you or do you feel prepared for residency whether it be in spain or any other part of the eu?

3. How does the diploma in surgery work with regards to the rest of the program? Are there any pros/cons to adding this to the normal medical program?

The nature of war was always changing. In recent decades, the prevailing winds had favoured the colourful banners of marching hosts who brought their cast monsters of metal to bear on old stone castle walls. Pedro Navarro, the Lieutenant-General of the Kingdom of Navarre, had experienced this himself in Italy. He had been at the head of the Navarrese sappers in the French army, working together with the cannoneers to engineer every enemy city into a French one. However, looking and listening to Italy with the eyes of a military architect helped Navarro notice the new developments that were in the air. Ad-hoc French defensive efforts, based on what they had seen down south, correspondence circulating between local architects, his personal experience with field fortifications and gunfire, it had all culminated to a set of ideas leading to anything but positive feedback about the state of Navarre upon his return.

You send a missive to Valladolid post-haste and by the time Castile hopefully arrives to relieve you, the walls are rubble and you are prisoners of France. King Ferdinand attacks you, then Blois is even further away than Valladolid. Cannons blast these walls apart in half a day, your majesty."

"We feared as much." Jean said. "It seems you already understand the assignment, general. We instruct you to build a new fortress. It will not defend the borders, as you understand. The passes to France are defensible, yes, but my Périgord is far north of there. France would take everything we hold dear and leave us a castle in the middle of nowhere. A new fortress in Viana will provoke Castile, on the other hand. And if we would use that to defend against France, we might as well cross the border to Castile and become refugees immediately."

Jean got up from his chair in the garden balcony in Olite and pointed northwards.

"There lies Pamplona. It is the heart of Navarre. As long as we have that, we have Navarre. So, good general, will you build us a state of the art fortress in Pamplona?"

"Yes, your majesty." Pedro Navarro nodded as if to bow and departed.

The Kingdo

The year is 1474, I'm trying to play as Brazil so I started with Portugal and rushed to Pernambuco. Conquered a good part from marroco and full annexed Granada. It was everything going as planned until I get the political marriage event, which gives me the decision of getting a PU over Castile (and over both Aragon and Navarra). I saved the game so I can go back if I made a bad decision but I accepted the marriage and now I have these 3 PU's. Does this decision changes what I am lookin for?

Como sabréis, Pais Vasco y Navarra disfrutan de un régimen especial: el foral. Esto les da mucha más autonomía sobretodo en cuanto a la fiscalidad. Esto hace que, aun siendo de las regiones más ricas, no participen en la redistribución de riqueza hacia regiones más pobres. Gracias a esto pueden tener impuestos más bajos que beneficien su industria sobre la del resto. Otras comunidades también pueden bajar impuestos, como Madrid, pero no tantos y jugando con las mismas reglas que el resto de regiones (no como las forales). Esto, por supuesto, hace que su competencia sí que sea injusta al tener privilegios históricos. Esta claro que esto es algo totalmente injusto y se debería hacer algo al respecto. ¿Pero que? ¿Quitarles los privilegios forales o dar los mismos privilegios y competencias al resto de comunidades?

The Navarra Invasion is by far the best way to get gear to build up enhancement cores. I'll detail how it works below. If any other veterans, especially console vets, notice anything or want to add anything please do.

The best way to go about this is to get a party of 5 together so you can all share drops and make sure you have at least 40-50 bag spaces open. Once you have your party, make sure the altars have been activated, kill the bulls in the area and the invasion starts, this is where the team work across the board must take place.

1. Make sure all members in your party are in different mob spots to spread the wealth. Gathering all in one spot will drastically limit the amount of loot you get.
2. THIS NEXT PART IS KEY!! Once the invasion starts and you start pulling mobs, DO NOT GET GREEDY! WAIT FOR MOBS TO GATHER AND CONDENSE. DO NOT PICK OFF THE TAIL END OF ENEMIES AND SPLIT THE MOB!! This will make the loot less for everyone involved, including yourself.
3. THIS PART IS EVEN MORE KEY!!!! DO NOT KILL THE BOSSES DURING THE 2ND PHASE OF THE INVASION!! The mobs WILL keep spawning and we can just go to town on gathering. If you kill the bosses, the invasion is done and we're only cheating ourselves.
4. This is more for convenience and not actual efficiency to the invasion itself, but if anyone has portable pyres or similar items, those help to be able to salvage gear on the fly and not leave the battlefield.
5. For the realistic part of this..........be prepared to die. People will res you if you're a level 1 or 2, but if you're a 3 just go to the Military camp pyre and come back. We'll still be there. Don't waste pots or scrolls...you're most likely going to die.

Lastly, cores aren't the only benefit to this....random recipe drops, potions, embers.......what you can pick up include a very wide range of items and it's extremely beneficial to all those involved, but it only works when you work as a team and most importantly, Don't kill the bosses during the 2nd phrase. I can't emphasize that enough.
