A list of puns related to "Military Macaw"
Hello once again! I posted a couple months ago when I got my baby Military Macaw from a breeder and a lot of people were basically concerned I didnβt have any experience raising a baby macaw. Well, itβs been two months and the baby can now fly and is very curious with his beak. Heβs also very friendly with almost everyone in the house, but gets very excited once I walk into the living room and comes flying towards me. Sometimes even tries to bite my sister if she gets too close when Iβm with him. Is this jealousy? Any way I can help him not get kinda angry when that happens?
Anyways, heβs around 5+ months old and, as I said, is very curious with his beak. I have a couple of toys and he picks them up and bites on them in a playful manner. I was reading on some other forum that macaws could start being weaned once the fly and start picking stuff up. Is this true? Should I wait a couple more months? If not, how do I start the weaning process correctly?
Thanks in advance!
PS: I used to feed three times a day, but he would refuse to eat sometimes. So I started feeding him only twice a day. Just thought Iβd point this out.
her of workers compensation and that she needed to get her finger looked at. When she did all the managers were upset by it and were talking poorly of her in the back. And as a little side note all of the managers are related to the owner of the pet store and that is the only reason they are managers. They believed it was ridiculous that she filed for workers compensation. I heard their conversations in the back as they got together and poked fun at her and thinking of ways to get her fired or make her quit. This lasted several days. All though she's not the best employee she's super sweet and works hard but just isn't into birds. Is their behavior illegal? How could I report it. Also they are knowingly selling sick birds. Customers have brought in prof from their veterinarians that their bird died from this disease caused by a bad breeder. The owner has been made aware but they keep using the same bad breeder. How could I report them for this? This has got to be illegal right?
2/30 chance of getting it
Hello internet friends!
I have just moved in with some family for a few months for personal reasons that don't matter. It's all good and I'm very happy to be here.
I am now sharing a studio apartment in a basement with this beautiful Military Macaw named Tino.
Tino is around 50 years old and seems quite content. I was told he isn't very fond of anyone except for one of my aunts. He's by no means angry, he is relatively quiet and seems more inquisitive about my presence.
I'd REALLY like to get to know him and give him treats or toys even. His cage is pretty bare, IMO but I am by NO means a bird person so I'm here for advice!
My aunts are the standard "meat and potatoes" people who don't crave variety... so I'd love to get some fun things for Tino.
Google hasnt been much help... most things are blanketed for "all parrots" and well, I just want some input from people who actually own/love birds on some recommendations for things to try.
I'm going to start with fruit, maybe banana or apple?
Please respond with your input. THANK YOU
Hi! I have a 12 year old Military macaw that I've owned since he was 6 months old.
A few days ago, he started his yearly molt, as he normally would at this time. However, I realized that I had been seeing an unusual amount of aqua blue feathers, and today when I checked, he was completely bald on his back and around his cloaca! This would have happened within the last day or so, as just the other day, his feathers were fine. I handle him every day and the feathers around his bottom were all there, but it is possible that I missed his back for a day or two, as I do not usually move his wings off his back without reason.
I don't think it is behavioral. He acts as if he is very irritated or itchy on his back, but other than that, no change in behavior, besides some extra yelling from him, which isn't that unusual and hasn't ever been something to bring out concern in me. His skin does look a bit poorly, mostly from him picking at it, I assume. Nothing too bad, but a few spots that look like he messed with blood feathers, perhaps?? We live in the south east, and there have not been any changes or bad weather to bring this out.
Obviously, this is something to take him to the vet for, but I'm the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions on how to take care of him and minimize the damage he can do to himself? I kept a close eye on him all evening to make sure he didn't pick at himself, but obviously, all birds must go to bed, so he's by himself in a dark sleeping cage to get some rest.
I'll be calling the vet tomorrow morning, but I'm not sure when they'll have an appointment open for him.
Thanks to anyone who has any suggestions/ideas/words of wisdom when it comes to dealing with my poor (presumably) itchy bird!
Title says all if you want a picture I don't have one yet but it may come out
EDIT: The Macaw is of the male gender
