A list of puns related to "Miktex"
Hi, I want to write and 'compile' my LaTeX documents in VS Code.
I already installed LaTeX Workshop and LaTeX Utilities in Code, unpacked the portable version of MiKTeX and added Code and MiKTeX to the PATH.
Do I need to change some settings in Code or the extansion?
When I start the compilation it says:
Sorry, but latexmk did not succeed for the following reason:
MiKTeX could not find the script engine 'perl' which is required to execute 'latexmk'.
(I'm a VS Code and LaTeX noob)
Hey guys, I am fairly new to Fedora. I installed TeXmaker and wanted to install miktex as well. Unfortunately, they only have their 34 version available.
Is there an alternative to miktex to install packages on the fly? Or can I even install the 34 version with some tricks?
Hi all,
Texstudio can't compile anu documents and MikTex returns with this error.
I have tried copy\paste solutions from the following link: https://miktex.org/howto/modify-path
Nothing has helped so far.

Recently I changed my system and had to reinstall TexStudio. When I go to Setting > Commands I don't have any paths to miktex. It was long ago since I done it, so I don't remember how should I fill all the Commands but I remember last time I was searching for so long time and in the end found some screenshot and wrote everything by hand. Do you have better (any way rather than my way will be better haha) ways to setup TexStu dio with MikTex or at least give me a screen shot of your setup. I hope it will be very usefull to other people like me who waste so much time to do this
I can't seam to place my images exactly under a paragraph where I would like it to be. How do I do it
Hi :)
Does anyone know of packages that I can find on MikTex that would allow me to form documents in the dnd 5e style?
I found some things on github but would really prefer to have installation done automatically by MikTex :)
I follow the steps on https://miktex.org/howto/install-miktex-unx and it doesn't work for me. Any help please.
I just download MikTeX on a new Mac, and it seems the interface (MikTeX console) is in German. I'm in the US and my computer's language is not German.
Any idea on why that is and how I can get it back to English?
Hello everyone, How can I include a nomenclature in Latex, knowing that I already have a tex class? I am using Texmaker an d Miktex I followed the video in: https://youtu.be/Ss1XfsaAnfs
but in vain Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
Hello! I am new to LaTeX, and I am looking to install Texmaker (https://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/) and MiKTeX (https://miktex.org/) on my Windows computer. Are these two resources safe? I am always skeptical of freeware-style applications. Thank you!
Using a basic empty document with the packages "hyperref" and "biblatex" I get a compilation time of about 8s with TexMaker. Isn't this a bit high?... In Overleaf I only get about 3s.
Also compiling (1x) my unfinished bachelor-thesis with TexMaker takes about 15-20s. In Overleaf it only takes about 8s. I checked for unneccesary/heavy packages etc. It just surprises me that Overleaf seems to get through all of them with ease.
Either somethings wrong with my PC/TexMaker or Overleaf is just really fast in compiling stuff...
(I have watched/read a lot of tutorials about reducing compilation time. However none of them would ever suggest "hey why not use Overleaf? It reduces the compilation time by more than a half!!")

> Only MiKTeX can do 'on the fly' package installation, as TeX Live is more focused on having a system that works well on multi-user systems. TeX Live defaults to installing everything, which means that if you want everything it's (marginally) easier to use TeX Live than MiKTeX.

I am using pdfLatex+MakeIndex+BibTex option in the dropmenu, and I am new to Latex so I am unable to figure out how to add bibliography. Can anyone help?
I have a file my-styles.sty
that I would like to use in my thesis. So I've done the following:
C:\miktexdata\mytexmf\tex\latex\my-styles
and copied the .sty file there.C:\miktexdata\mytexmf
as a texmf root in MikTex Console.Still when doing \usepackage{my-styles} in my thesis file, the file is not found.
Hi, I'm having problems with MikTeX installation on windows. I installed the "Net Installer" but is it really necessary?
Can I just install the Basic Installer? Or even TeXLive? I spend the whole day trying to install manim but it didn't work. I just uninstalled everything and I'm going to try again.
I use MikTeX, and quite recently came across a few examples where installation of certain packages contained instructions for TeXLive but not for MikTeX. So is it impossible for me to use such packages on my system?
If so, I will have to switch to TeXLive. I am working on quite a few files and don't want to lose progress or my macros saved in Texmaker. Is it possible for me to switch to MikTeX without reinstalling Texmaker?
Or is MikTeX generally considered to be better than TeXLive and those examples of packages are just exceptions to the rule?
Please advise, Thanks miss4chewN8
I am new to R, and programming in general, and am going through the Data Science: Foundations in R course and was trying to get the PDF part of R Markdown to work, and to do that I discovered I needed this Miktex thing. finding it was quick, the program itself gives you all the links, but I have had problems installing the complete version, which is the one R says I need.
I made some several attempts at downloading the program itself through the installer but kept recieving error 403, so I eventually gave up, and enjoyed my weekend thinking of all my options. Today i thought of using my universities VPN, but now the installer refuses to download the most recent version, saying it outdated. Is my only option to wait? What are the most reliable servers to download from?
tl;dr Miktex is giving me hell, how do I charge through it and teach him who is boss?
I have used overleaf and it's beautiful to see the preview right next to the code with auto compiling.
I download miktex for offline latex use but it only generated pdf at the end when I am done with the latex code. So, it becomes difficult to work on any offline project compared to the freedom one gets with overleaf.
Any advice?
Thank you
For the last couple of days, I have been trying to set up Manim on my W10 64 B machine. I've been following this tutorial by the Theorem of Beethoven. In the beginning, they install MiKTeX, first by downloading the packages using the net installer and then by installing said packages. The problem I'm having is that I installed the basic version as when I attempted to hit the "Install" button (while running as admin) on both the 32 and 64-bit versions of the MiKTeX installer, the window just randomly closed. This happened every time, and I still don't know whats going on. But if anyone knows what the basic version is missing in order to get Manim to work with it, please let me know, or if anyone knows how to reliably install the complete version without the installer completely breaking then also let me know.
Hi im trying to get latex to download some packages, mainly the caption package, im using the miktek package manager however regardless of what internet connection I use i continue to get 404 errors cant connect to server when trying to download these packages. I am running miktex as administrator but it doesnt seem to fix this issue. any help would be grateful for.

The svg package uses inkscape to compile a pdf from an svg, then use it as an image.
In Linux, I run pdflatex -shell-escape file.tex
to generate the initial images, but my friend uses MiKTeX, and I don't see an option for enabling this behaviour anywhere.
Dear All,
I would like to install LaTeX at my little brothers pc as well.At home, I have the dark version, and I want it to look exactly the same at my little brothers, so I can explain everything without adjusting to a new layout.
However, after downloading and installing everything (he has a windows computer as well) the software looks quite different to what I am used to and i cant seem to grasp why that is.
Can you help me out?Thank you in advance
Edit: Solution: The editor you want is TeXmaker. The editor you have is TeXworks.
I'm trying to install the complete version of MikTex on my computer, however after I download the package and open the installer to click install again, it just... closes and doesn't even show me the next screen. I'm trying to install this for using Mamin, so the Basic version will not do. Please, let me know if this is happening to anyone else. The YT tutorials I've been watching have been using an older version of the installer and I'm not sure if there's a way I could get my hands on that, as currently, I'm assuming there are just some kind of major glitch for the 64 and 32 Bit Windows 10 versions.
I want to install tikz-uml but it does not work.
Any ideas?
Am using windows with miktex
So I wanted to use LaTeX on windows 10 and decided to use MiKTeX but unfortunately I'm unable to install anything from their website. I keep getting a 'server connection timed out' error.
Does anyone have alternative links to download MiKTeX?
I have a custom set of packages in a texmf folder that has been added to MiKTeX's root directories (and my filename database has been refreshed). With TeXworks I can successfully compile documents that invoke these packages, but TeXstudio fails, giving me an "x.cls not found" error. How can I make TeXstudio play nice with MiKTeX and see this texmf tree?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering how to custom install a single package ( namely, Dvipng) with MiKTeX. Last time I tried to install MiKTeX, it automatically installed tons of packages that I don't need. Usually using online TeX editors works fine for me, but now I need to install Dvipng on my machine for the sake of making use of the LaTeX support on another local app. Any tips or links to tips are appreciated
Hey guys, I've, or better said TeXstudio has troubles with downloading a new package because the MiKTeX API (https://api2.miktex.org/) returns HTTP 503. I found some comments on this topic by searching Google. Some users mentioned, this happens every now and then. Because there is no forum or chat for MiKTeX specific questions, I'm looking for help on this subreddit.
Is this common? If yes, how long does it usually take them to fix the problem? Is there a way to check, if somebody is already assigned to this issue?
I tried to install, it finishes, but doesn't open. I tried to uninstall, but nothing happens also.
Using: Windows 10
Edit: the principal archive had an accent, because of that, I couldn't install well. Now is ok! Thank you for all your help!
The errors are shown in figure

After downloading MikTex I started installing it and reached the "look for updates" part, it found around 80 something and I pressed "update now" and then I got an error saying "Window API error 5: Access is Denied", I thought it didn't matter much but then I opened Tex studio and it gave me an error because MikTex was not installed fully(I got around 4 error messages for 4 MikTex files) so I tried opening MikTex, same issue, 4 errors or so, so I went to uninstall the application to reinstall it again and I got this error message "The code execution cannot proceed because MiKTeX200629-ui-Qt.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem" (and 3 other similar errors but with different file names) so pretty much I can neither install it nor uninstall it, does anyone now the solution?
I'm very new to latex. I have tried to set it up on my Windows 10 PC using a tutorial I found here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI8W4MvFo1M
However, when I try to quick build into a pdf, I'm given the error:
Could not start the command: pdflatex -synctex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong or how to fix this?
