A list of puns related to "Melanesian"
Is it a linguistic group? Is it a racial group? Or is it genetic group? From the perspective of a layperson (me) it seems that the term Melanesia is used broadly and not entirely consistently in Wikipedia or academic papers. If it is a racial group shouldn't the term be discouraged since it describes nothing except the colour of the skin? If I misunderstand something I'll be glad to be corrected
My brother (and it appears as my brother in the DNA relatives) just got his results back and he has 1.4% Melanesian when I have none. Even at 90% confidence it's there.
My father has also tested and doesn't have any Melanesian DNA either, so I suppose it's form mother's side.
We don't have any known Melanesian ancestors but we both have around 12-18% native (south)American DNA, maybe it's from there?
How reliable do you think that small percentage is? And any idea where it could come from?
I've recently gotten into Indo-Pacific history, and I've read countless articles about the immense diversity of Polynesia. I was soon wondering, "Why didn't they share their culture's with other islands?" And soon discovered they did not trade often, and I couldn't find much evidence for trading with other islands.
I always assumed there was a lot of mingling and voyaging to different islands, but I never really thought they would never trade certain goods to islands. Did their boat designs effect it's storage capacity? Many question are going on.
Also, I won't be surprised if they actually did trade, and I've read the wrong articles.
I have seen results from these groups and all seem to have Melanesian ancestry.
Hi! π΅ππ«π·
Iβm a native English and Filipino speaker. Iβve spoken and studied both languages all my life and have acquired varying degrees of proficiency in Melanesian Pidgin (Tok Pisin) and a number of regional Filipino languages such as Cuyonon and Cebuano.
Iβm currently (trying) to study French π₯and am looking for native speakers or even fellow language learners (Wonβt mind if youβre a fellow A1βer too!). I can talk all sorts of topics. Name it and I probably have something to say about it π€§: video games, books, music, philosophy, linguistics, history, anthropology, paleontology, zoology, musicals, politics, art (I could go on π₯Έ SHDJHD)
Thanks! Salamat! Tenkyu! Merci! π₯°
I got my results and Iβm 100% I have indigenous ancestry going back maternal and paternal ancestry. I noticed Aboriginal Australia wasnβt included in populations tested. Would this be it? Thanks
Iβm sorry but honey weβve seen so many shades white with only like three to four different human female champions that arenβt like ranging from olive to white. Rito gotta diversify and conquer.
