A list of puns related to "Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games"
What am I saying?
It's hard to summarize, but try to roll with me step by step. I took my Adderall really late in the day, and I'm also a little drunk, so I've got a weird mix of motivation and loose-lips going on, so let's just roll with it.
Massively Multiplayer
In current retail, yeah, it's still a shit ton of people working together to achieve certain goals...except, it doesn't feel that way most of the time. With LFR and LFD, you can roll through most of the content without even communicating with your teammates most of the time. Pvp hasn't felt faction based in forever, so it's just become arena grinds for the most part, which at best requires you to mesh with a core group of five, and at worst requires you to put in the time per week with your one other buddy.
Role Playing
This is a big one, but also a hard one to pin down. I mean, you're playing this game on a super advanced computer system, there's some effort involved in immersion from the jump. That said, I think there was some logic applied to a lot of things in Vanilla where the end goal was immersion. I actually think a lot of the clash between the "No changes!" crowd and the "Vanilla but..." crowd come down to immersion and role playing. Guild banks is something I see come up a lot, and I seriously think this falls in the "ok for everyone" bracket. But then I see calls for AoE Mass Auto Loot...ok, I get the convenience there, but from an RP standpoint, does it make sense to be able to loot twenty bodies at the same time? In extreme cases I've seen people advocating for LFD. Ok, look, I get the convenience here, but this is the exact type of thing that lovers of Vanilla feel led to the current state of the game. Like, ok, there's an obvious impact on world pvp when you don't have to physically travel to a dungeon. But, beyond that, the impact on RP is pretty obvious...what's the explanation for pulling up some interface and queuing for a dungeon, and then teleporting to said dungeon once the requisite force was assembled?
In Summation
I don't really have a summary, as I said earlier. I would like to discuss things further, but really I guess my view is that people having completely forgotten what "MMORPG" means, and have reduced WoW to a "video game", which I think is a shame.
The game would give you the option to start off anywhere you want in the U.S. You could create your own character, level them up, join a group of other players, and fight for survival. Would you play it?

Ps : I discovered MUD games only today, before I knowed only Interactive fiction :p
I love action RPGs such as Path of Exile, Diablo 2/3, and Grim Dawn. Recently I started playing Grim Dawn and I have to say it is my favorite of the three so far. Also when I was a kid I loved Balidur's Gate, Champions of Norrath (4 player in PS2 using the "Multi-tap"!), and other action RPGs.
However, I really want to play a similar game that is actually massively multiplayer, or at least has more of an emphasis on multiplayer. The only real thing you have to do as far as multiplayer in the games above is play the "Greater Rifts" in Diablo 3 or Baal runs in Diablo 2. But even those don't really require multiplayer.
Any ideas on ARPGs that are similar to the above games but require online multiplayer or have a really good online multiplayer experience? (MMO would be even better!)
Hey /r/vancouver,
Today World of Warcraftβs newest expansion βLegionβ dropped. Legion will surely be another mediocre boring expansion for users to grind out gear and go on boss fight raids. To be fair, most MMORPGs suffer from that kind of gameplay and replayability. Even though people know about the grind most MMORPGs come with, people still embrace the genre and play them.
I have played MMORPGs. I love Roleplay Games in general. From my first video gaming love of Chrono Trigger to writing paragraphs in chatrooms to rolling dice on the table, I love roleplaying games. MMORPGs however, is a special kind of loveβ¦ like a bad relationship you canβt stop fighting and they change something about themselves and you run back into their arms. In short, Iβve played a shitload of MMORPGs but donβt stay very long. Itβs not that I donβt enjoy them (I do), but I really dislike the idea of the end game grinding for gear. Repeatedly doing the same thing over and over again isnβt my cup of tea.
Here is a small list of what Iβve played (Kind of in order):
Iβm sure I mayβve left out one or twoβ¦ I was going to try out Black Desert but didnβt like the currency system so didnβt bother with it. The biggest issue I have with MMORPG is it makes me feel so unproductive in lifeβ¦ because theyβre a hu

> Amidst the new burst of information about hush money, shell companies, and white supremacist websites suddenly swirling around Donald Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and New York-based company Columbus Nova - as well as Columbus Nova's relationship with sanctioned Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg - one detail has provided a bizarre offshoot.
> Daybreak Games, a California online game company specializing in massively multiplayer online role-playing games, is scrambling to distance itself from Columbus Nova - a company that was listed as a subsidiary of Vekselberg's Renova company.
> "There has been some confusion concerning Daybreak's ownership and rumors about the state of the company that have circulated from a few online game websites, and we want to set the record straight," a recent statement on the company's online forum read. "We assure you that these rumors are entirely false and that there's no impact on our business or games in any way whatsoever."
> A spokesperson for Daybreak told ThinkProgress that previous confusion about Daybreak's ownership stemmed from Epstein's role at Columbus Nova, and that previous statements about Columbus Nova owning Daybreak came from people "Just sort of assum[ing]" that Columbus Nova had purchased Daybreak.
> In 2015, Smedley told an online forum dedicated to one of Daybreak's games that the "Opportunity to go out and get investors like Columbus Nova that think about things for the long haul was a big deal to us."
> While there haven't been any large-scale studies yet on the topic, early research has found that the games Daybreak specializes in - massive, sprawling settings, involving large numbers of players and transactions - provides premium avenues for the types of money laundering that authorities would never detect.

Dear Gamer,
My name is Rico Drake. I am a gamer and a professor at Central Michigan University. I am conducting a study about how personality characteristics, emotional discomfort, and game play behaviors may contribute to problematic consequences of gaming. I am looking for participants to take my survey at (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9Z3V85T). While there are no direct benefits to you for participating in the study your participation has the potential to help researchers, counselors, and game developers understand how players perceive their behavior. Although I canβt reward you directly for participating in the study each person that starts the survey will get the opportunity to vote for a charity to receive a small (50 dollar) donation. Following data collection I will make a donation to the top two charities that you vote on for a total of one hundred dollars donated. Participation in this study is voluntary and you can stop at any time! Thank you for considering the study.
Sincerely, Rico Drake
