A list of puns related to "Marquis De Sade"
I recently finished this book and was pretty mortified by its contents that ranged from sexual slavery, kidnapping and intense sadism to murder and passionate sex. I’ve truly never read something like this ever before and I’m wondering if anyone else has read this and what your thoughts are on the novel? I thought the wording was a bit extra at times but overall I thought it was a good read although I found myself feeling immense pity for the protagonist cause she literally couldn’t catch a break the poor girl. Would recommend it to anyone with a sadistic side or if you enjoy reading classic sexual books.
Also just wondering if there’s any other recommendations for good sexual novels? I’m currently reading Emmanuelle by Emmanuelle Arsan.
How can a book like 120 Days of Sodom interpreted philosophically?
UPDATE: Oh man, thank you for the award. I would have loved to delve more into the psychology of Marquis de Sade but strayed away because I’m pretty sure everyone is scared from Armie Hammer’s DMs as it is.
There was a video posted where Hammer answers a Buzzfeed-type video question for an interview: “Who would you want from history to be your dinner guest?”. His answer: El Marquis de Sade.
Marquis de Sade was the piece of evidence to seal it all. I had only heard his name in passing, never knowing what he actually did in history. Based on the title Marquis, I assumed he just belonged to a royal family and capped it at that. I went into more research, ultimately finding a podcast episode by Conflicted: A History Podcast discussing the life of Marquis de Sade. The host details Sade’s childhood to the very end of his life, and there was nothing in it that was redeemable. The man was known for flogging prostitutes and almost poisoning some to near death with an aphrodisiac. He took advantage of a woman out on the street, lured her into his castle and tied her up in order to whip her. Once he was finally thrown in jail by his mother-in-law, he was deprived of any outlet possible of this sexual depravity, that he wrote 120 Days of Sodom detailing awful scenarios of pedophilia, incest, murder, and rape. As a libertine, he challenged the philosophy of free will and pushed the belief that life’s purpose is to indulge in self-pleasure. However, where is the pleasure in pedophilia, rape, and murder? In the hands of the person who is in control of it. Sade was never a revolutionary, he was a sick and complicated man who only felt sexual pleasure when he saw someone else in misery. He also enjoyed toeing the line of getting caught along with getting away without any consequence. I would suggest anyone who is curious enough to listen to the podcast to do so; it is a tragic and despicable life but it details a phenomenon of the human condition.
Back to Hammer, why would he want such a dinner guest? And why would he discuss it so publicly in an interview? I assume that he, like Sade, wanted to get caught. He wanted to see how far he could push it without getting caught. Now, it will cost his career, his family, and his reputation for years to come. I believe in sexual positivity and do not kink shame but there are some kinks that are beyond sex and is clearly a sign of psychological issues. I don’t even believe that these kinds of things like breaking someone’s bones

There is evidence that the Illuminati group was formulated by the Supreme Council. They are the ones that implemented the Principles, policies, etc.
Everyone knows that Adam Weishaupt is the founder and the first gang leader of the Illuminati:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Weishaupt
In fact, he was just the leader at the front desk. The real boss is the "Supreme Council". Like a company, "the highest "Committee" is the company’s board of directors. Weishaupt was the company’s general manager, concrete implementation of the board of directors' decisions.
It's members included five people:
1. Adam Weishaupt
2. French nobleman Marquis de Sade (Marquis de Sade),
3. Sir Francis Dashwood (founder of the 'Hellfire Club')
4. Kabbalistic scholar of Esotericism Jacob Frank (aka ' Sabbatai Zevi')
5. Mayer Rothschild, representative of the Bankers Group.
De Sade's books are pure filth and evil but they also have 'hints' about how this group views humanity. Here are some excerpts from some of his works. Some of them have already come to pass:
quote:
"The most outstanding service one could do to some young person would then be to pluck out of him all the weeds of virtue Nature or education might have sown in his soul."
quote:
"The embryo is to be considered the woman’s exclusive property; as the sole owner of this fruit rather jestingly called precious, she can dispose of it as she likes. She can destroy it in the depths of her womb if it proves a nuisance to her. Or after it ripens and is born, if she is for any reason displeased with it or irked at having produced it, she can destroy it then; whatever the circumstances, infanticide is her sacred right."
quote:
"Forbid them marriage, authorize sodomy, prohibit them worship of any sort, and you will soon have them reduced to the abjection your policy demands."
quote:
"A vital chapter in the policy followed by all those at the head of any government is to foment and promote the extremest degree of corruption in the citizenry; so long as the subject wastes away body and soul in the delights of gangrenous, enfeebling debauchery, he does not feel the weight of his irons, and you can heap fresh ones upon him without his even noticing.

Before starting this, let me say that this book is without exception one of those rare cases where you really, really need to know what you’re getting into before picking it up. And let’s be honest, no one is picking up The 120 Days of Sodom these days without having heard of what it entails first and letting their curiosity get the better of them. While it's a "classic" of sorts, I felt compelled to write this review because, despite everything about it, The 120 Days fascinated me, more than almost any book in recent memory.
This is a fascinating, dreadful, disgusting, brilliant and horrifically depraved book. It is everything everyone who has read it says it is, and it’s likely that someone reading this might think that such glowing praise about a book so condemned might think I’m being pretentious or perverted. There are some literary faults to the 120 Days I think, but I’ll be clear on this point: my praise for this book doesn’t mean I wasn’t disgusted or nauseated by what I read. I was. It’s the reason why I have to acknowledge that the Marquis de Sade must have gotten close to accomplishing what it was he set out to do - approach, explore, and record the deepest depths of sexual fantasy and desire, to answer the question of “how far can we go?”
Turns out, pretty far.
I won’t be spoiling or discussing much of what the book describes or entails because to take a line or two out of context would take the reader out of the crucial journey to reach that point. And there is a journey, a long one, and probably one of my bigger gripes with the book. Around the first third is spent introducing us to each of the four main characters, the ones who commit the violence and obscenities which follow, and this is necessary. However, too much time in my opinion is spent on Sade’s setup of the background for these events. He goes into intimate detail on the methods by which the victims of the book are kidnapped or brought to the keep deep in the Black Forest. He describes the long process of selecting them from a lineup, their backgrounds, and even at one point begins to go into the enormous costs of this endeavor. The setup it exhausting, but in a way also potentially thrilling - we cannot help but wonder what it is exactly that they’ll get up to once they’re locked away, secluded in their horrible castle, this libertine palace, where the acts that follow have been debated for the centuries following Sade’s death.
Again, I can’t go into great detail
