A list of puns related to "Mapillary"
Greetings guys. I was wondering, what happened to Mapillary? The app loads no pics at all and in OsmAnd, no green dots available (Mapillary pics) when activated.
How to use Mapillary without Google services? Is there an alternative application?
Got in mind a little project as most of Mapillary' photos are mostly close to 2y old in my country, I would like to know which is the best APN in Xiaomi devices ? What also are the main disadvantages / issues compared to other brands (if allowed to speak about them).
- Great GPS Accuracy (dual-frequency)
- 1 microSD slot
Currently have a Redmi Note 9T I could still use for testing, but looking to buy a new device.
Thanks.
Edit: Umm sorry .. it's not APN, The Camera to take photo/video. Apologize lol.

Their data is also now integrated into the OSM editors (JOSM, iD, RapiD): https://blog.mapillary.com/update/2020/08/24/global-map-features-openstreetmap.html
If you want to transfer your photos from Mapillaty to OSC it is possible to do it automatically with Image transfer tool now.
As Mapillary joins Facebook I wonder: why is there no such service in the Wikipedia/Wikimedia universe? Free and open to use for everyone.
Mapillary blog: https://blog.mapillary.com/update/2020/09/16/extending-object-detections-to-scene-classes.html
Excerpts:
>The types of detections covered by our algorithms so far covered mostly well-localized objects: things that you can place as a point or a line on a map. Think of things such as fire hydrants, benches, and utility poles. However, in order to ultimately fully describe a street level scene, and place anything visible in the scene on a map, we also need to cover larger objects (gas stations, toll stations, parking lots etc.). [...]
>Today, we take a first step in this direction by introducing the beta version of an initial set of new detections for larger types of traffic infrastructure. The new detections include:
>* Gas stations >* Toll stations >* Parking lots >* Roundabouts >* Intersections >* Tunnel Entries >* Tunnel Exits >* Train stations
I'm curious to know if Mapillary had any lasting impacts from selling out to Facebook. Obviously, Facebook is a horrible company directed by a sociopath, and some of the community spoke out loudly against it, going so far as to delete their data.
Does anyone know where i might be able to find Mapillary statistics such as usercount, user activity, milage added, etc?
I woke up this morning reading that a service I loved for years has been sold to Facebook, and I'm honestly outraged.
I'm sure many of you feel the same, and I figured I'd share what I wrote to Mapillary support in the hopes that many other users will follow me in jumping ship asap.
>Due to serious privacy concerns, I would love to remove all my contributions to your platform. I unfortunately included pictures of people that are no longer willing to be part of your ecosystem and I have to respect their will, I just hope I will be able to without going through unnecessary hassle.
>
>Unfortunately I can't seem to find any easy way, would you please instruct me on how to do it?
>
>Ideally I don't need them all removed, but since the vast majority of my uploads would feature such privacy issues I figured it would be much faster to just go nuclear rather than deleting 9 pics out of 10, also leaving broken sequences.
>
>Just take any file uploaded by me and delete it. Don't hide, remove attribution or anything. Just plain delete.
>
>What a shame you sold out to facebook by the way! Hope you wont get hit too hard but from what I've read online many open-source minded people are genuinely outraged for this move, and I can't blame them. I for one won't be using your services anymore, it's honestly infuriating knowing that the time and resources I spent to gather data for your service will now feature a prominent copyright notice with their logo. Please remember that facebook is what allowed Trump and the likes to take us to the horrendous current worldwide state of affairs.

>Thank you very much in advance for your help, looking forward hearing back from you!

>Have a nice day!
E: I just wanted to add that their new business model, free for commercial use, basically nails the coffin of any potential new competitor in street imagery. Why would any customer ever choose to pay for a new service when thereβs the free facebook alternative? And how would said new competitor fund their operations?
All the images that I have uploaded to Mapillary all have an open license, right?
So what I'm wondering is then: it's not possible for Facebook/Mapillary to change this license later on and make all my images not public domain anymore all of a sudden, right?
(or in order words: I can keep my images on there without the fear of them losing public domain status in case a Mapillary alternative shows up that's better than OSC)
Very recently, I saw a post about Mapillary wanting to speak to people who use Mapillary in their workflow with JOSM. I could not respond at that time, but wish to respond to them now, but cannot find the post anywhere. If someone knows where that post might reside, or the email address I should use ( I looked for similar post on Mapillary), I would really appreciate you responding to this post.
Thank you very much in advance.
