Nepotism in young Hollywood: Which currently popular actor/actress is NOT a product of being well-connected and/or rich?
Honestly, off the top of my head, I can only think of Zendaya. Her parents were high school teachers.
Then, on the other side of the pond, where classicism is supposedly even more pervasive in acting circles to the point where even Dame Judi Dench has famously spoken out about it, I can only think of James McAvoy and Olivia Cooke as actors that come from a working-class background.

My mom falls for this every time I come home ME: I was just listening to the radio on my way in to town, apparently an actress just killed herself.
I said "her name was Reese something" and my mom replied "WITHERSPOON???" but I said, "No, with a knife"

Name a horror film role that was so well cast, you just couldn't see the role being played by any other actor or actress
For me, Max Von Sydow as Father Merrin in The Exorcist, such a terrific performance, one of my all-time favorites to boot. I couldn't see anyone else playing that role. Pretty much feel the same way for that cast (even though I really liked George C. Scott's performance as Lt. Kinderman in The Exorcist III.)
Same for James Caan & Kathy Bates as Paul Sheldon & Annie Wilkes respectively in Misery, both were outstanding in those roles IMHO. Name a horror film role that was so perfectly cast that you couldn't see the role being played by another actor.

Netflix Casting a Literal Blind 12-Year-Old Asain Actress as Toph?
What is everyone's opinion on how Netflix should go about casting Toph? I've seen many fans suggest representation is important to cast a literal blind 12-year-old martial arts actress as Toph. While others suggest it's easier (and possibly safer) to teach an actress to act blind (i.e Charlie Cox in Daredevil).
What is everyone's opinion?

Flip the script: Nepotism in young Hollywood: Which currently popular actor/actress IS THE PRODUCT of being well-connected and/or rich?
Itβs an interesting conversation to have. It seems like thereβs so much PR out there designed to make young Hollywood look like a rag to riches story by hiding their connections and/or background.
In inspiration of the recent post asking the opposite, which currently popular actor/actress, in your opinion IS THE PRODUCT of being well-connected and/or rich?

Name an actor or actress that you were honestly surprised to see in a horror film or a creepy psychological thriller
One of the first ones that comes to mind for me is Denzel Washington in Fallen, I thought he was excellent along with the rest of the cast but I remember there were quite a few at the time that were surprised to see him in a horror film, especially a film where he's essentially >!fighting a demon that can enter through touch.!< I was surprised to see him in a film like that, I felt the same way about Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense & Richard Gere in The Mothman Prophecies tbh, thought their respective performances were solid in that. Probably my favorite performance from Gere.
I also remember many surprised to see Donnie Wahlberg being in The Sixth Sense, Dreamcatcher & some of the SAW sequels. I wasn't surprised to see him in the SAW films, I was surprised to see him in The Sixth Sense & Dreamcatcher because he looked so unrecognizable, he completely disappeared into the role. Name an actor or actress that you were honestly surprised to see in a horror film or a creepy psychological thriller.

What is the best single performance you've seen an actor/actress give?
I really want to start off by naming just one performance but it's so hard, so instead I'll list a couple that came to mind (some of my personal favorites):
Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood
Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove
Klaus Kinski in Aguirre, Wrath of God
Giullieta Masina in Nights of Cabiria
I know it's hard, but what's the best acting performance you've ever seen?

Is SJP a good actress?
So I donβt know anything about what makes a good actor, but when watching AJLT and SATC I always feel that SJP is such an amazing and believable actress. She does things I donβt normally see actors do (something as simple as scratch her arm bc itβs itchy, the little yelps she makes) kinda hard to explain but if you watch these shows you know what Iβm talking about. I feel like those things make her acting very believable and real.
Iβm basically asking is SJP an incredible actress or is she just really good at playing herself?
