A list of puns related to "Land Surveyor"
I am looking to create a Parcel Identification Number (PIN) as per this official govt. website : https://housing.govmu.org/Pages/Dept%20and%20Org/Divisions/Survey/The-Cadastre-Unit.aspx,
In order to create this PIN , a certified Land surveyor aka " Arpenteur JurΓ©" needs to examine the land.
In my research, I have realised there are many fraudulent " Arpenteurs". That is why I am looking for an official list of certified Land surveyors aka " Arpenteur JurΓ©" or a professional association that will provide such a list.
I looked for such a list on official websites but without any success.
Thank you in advance for any shared insights.
I work for a surveying company, and we are required to cross through othersβ property all the time. We usually try to knock on doors to inform the owners if we are going to be lurking around there house for a while, but if there is just a quick property corner we need to locate, sometimes we just walk back there without saying anything.
The other day we were looking for adjacent property corners so that our office guy could line up our property more accurately. We were at an old abandoned looking house that had not been kept up well. The property owner drove up to us and threatened to call the cops for trespassing. We explained what we were doing, but he kept making threats, so we decided just to leave. Nothing came about it, but I was just curious if I could actually get into legal trouble in a situation like this. My boss told me that we were legally allowed to shoot adjacent property corners. I was wondering how true this was.
I'm trying to apply for surveyor jobs, but they all require either being professionally licensed or having a civil engineering background + experience and having the fundamentals exam done. I have 0 (professional) experience and a degree in geology. I read lots of comments on here mentioning it was possible to get your foot in the door as a rodman and work your way up but it seems impossible right now, at least from what I'm personally seeing. For context, I'm looking in Albuquerque, NM. Is there a cyclical nature to this industry, where getting your foot in the door might be made a bit easier? Geographic biases?
Hey there Iβm a land surveyor in south central Texas, I volunteered for acreage for the love of hiking in the woods and I had an idea to collect bones and make a built in book shelf featuring bones and plants Iβve found... long story short I was wondering if I could post some skulls and help get identification. Any help would be great and Iβll post tomorrow after the first batch has dried.
We are a small industrial drone manufacturer called SmartDrone, HQ'ed by the gymnastics facility on Grande in Tyler. We work with leaders in surveying, mapping, and engineering, who are responsible for delivering topographic map data to their customers.
Our solution lets them capture one foot contour maps from the air with a drone made in Tyler, Texas.
We have a free educational event that we put on each month for students, CAD Jockeys, Rodmen, crew chiefs, RPLS', Professional Engineers, and anyone who is in the GIS/Mapping industries can come to learn about drones. They will get three things from the event:
We've hosted one of these events and had people attend from Dallas, Whitehouse, Tyler, Arp, Etc. We are hosting our next event on this Friday, May 14th, 2021.
Who do you know that would be a good fit for this event? They just need to be in a related industry or studying to be a part of the industry. We'll feed them a free lunch!!!

I am in seek of professional foresight as I move forward with my studies. I am 23 years of age on the verge of attaining my 2-year degree (A.S.) in Engineering.
Context: I was introduced to Land surveying back in 2018 with no experience other than the construction trades: carpentry, tile, roofing, etc. After working a year at my company, I began to see the bigger picture of the Survey department in my firm which consists of Civil, Planning, and Land surveying disciplines. So, I did what any knowledge driven mind does and registered to my closest community college. I started as a survey technician doing a range of field work such as altaβs, boundary, topo and utility surveys. I worked my way into now doing CAD work in-office. All the while I continue to stay on top of classes, I now do both field and CAD work moving into my fourth year with the same firm. School is first, nevertheless. Given that I have enjoyed the challenge in Surveying, I had set my eyes on pursuing Certification striving to sit the FS exam and later PS exam under the circumstance I fulfill a 2-year degree and obtain minimum 2-years field experience (in GA, USA).
As I moved forward with my coursework, I could not help but notice Civil Engineering calling my name and became motivated to pursue the degree. This coming fall semester I will begin to apply to 3 schools for CE. My concern here is I would want to be working less for the greater good of deep work, yet I do not want to fall behind on my living expenses like rent and groceries. I do my best to live below my means based on my current salary while also saving. I am beginning to explore options like applying for scholarships, maybe grants? However, for the odds to be in my favor I would have to be unemployed or not working full-time to qualify for financial aid. I also consider there Is a much greater ROI if I pursue civil engineering if continue in the discipline after college. Along this journey Iβve also learned the importance of financial literacy and refraining from falling into loan debt so Ideally, I would like to stay away from loans if possible. I have slowly become comfortable with the fact I am a lifelong learner and disregard the time it takes to obtain a degree as long as I get there. I have contemplated taking the PS route while also continuing my CE degree studies which of course may be delayed longer due to workload.
Given my current circumstance, does anybody have any input as to weighing in on what route suit

Iβm interested in getting into surveying as career (mostly interested in the mining sector as a mine surveyor, but may get into construction), while I was doing research, many surveying jobs in my area only require you to have any sort of engineering technician diploma while in the bigger cities like Toronto some require you to be a licensed land surveyor with the AOLS, and they need a bachelors degree from specific universities.
Just wondering the difference between a land surveyor and a surveyor, any info helps!
Haven't had a report in a while, i said to myself as i responded and drove to the location that was in my GPS, it had been a while since i had a report, which i blamed on the lockdowns, now i/we are not a goverment or commerical entity, while we do pass evidence off to the police, we're merely like any other search party, this day i decided to just do it solo, i had a GPS, phone, compass and map, what could go wrong i thought?
As i drove closer i realized i had underestimated just how wooded the area was, it was nature at it's finest, i'm not sure who would survey this land, no one in their right mind would build upon it but the report did claim they were 'amatuar land surveyors' something i didn't even realize existed, all the way there i struggled with keeping the images of a group of kids with protractors out of my head, but soon enough i reached the location, it wasn't a location as such but rather an area, it would better be described as a radius, a circle of about 1/2 miles, and directly in the middle of this circle i parked the 4x4.
At first it was silent, i couldn't hear nor see anything, walking out in circles from the center with a compass, until i noticed something starkingly unatural, it was on the ground and reflecting the sun, square and blindingly white, it was a clipboard, before i touched it i took a picture of the general state using an app which saves the coordinates, then i could pick it up and read what was on it, drawings of triangles, angles and distances, and a crude plot, but it had some useful information, how big the plot they were surveying is, how many points and more importantly, the exact location, and it just so happened to be a few meters away from where i found the clipboard.
In the ground i noticed footsteps, some big, some small, some of which may have just been wildlife, i photographed them as evidence, and as i felt i got near i shouted some calls, which echoed forever into the wilderness to no response.
But there it was, a small clearing, inside which was the tell tale evidence of surveying, i took a picture of every instrument they left out for the evidence, and i started to notice something, the instruments which had been left behind were clean, there was no sign of trouble, and not only were the position of everything importent but the settings they had been lefted on, by referencing the clipboard i was able to find out the transit station, a green instrument like a telescope, was on D, looking at E, it

Does anyone know of a cheaper land surveyor? Not part of a real estate transaction so not really in a rush (happy to be a fallback when someone cancels haha) and have the plat map of my subdivision, nothing too crazy on my land only .3 acres and a rectangle. My neighbors told me where they think the lines are but just want to know for sure. Everyone I called has been $600+
Thanks!
Would studying at trade school in Australia be considered enough to gain decent employment? Or should I obtain a Bachelor's in Engineering and not waste time or money? Any experience or knowledge will help. Thank you!
I have a degree in biological and agricultural engineering (essentially civil engineering but with more of a focus on water) and am going into business with my dad who owns and runs a small land surveying firm in Arkansas. He is a PS with 30+ years of experience and I have some GIS/surveying/civil engineering experience (not a ton but just enough to be dangerous). Currently, our business does mostly construction staking for residential developments, lot surveys, and some UAV work.
These types of jobs are great and can make for some easy money, but I am increasingly concerned about the health of our planet and would like to try and orient my career as a surveyor towards environmental sustainability in some way. It could really be anything, whether related to pollution cleanup, stream restoration, water security, soils conservation, forestry, clean energies, etc. I just want to feel like my work is doing something positive for the planet rather than just building subdivisions. I realize that land development is not necessarily a bad thing and that people still need houses, but I at least want to incorporate some aspect of environmental sustainability into surveying.
I would also like to do this while continuing to work at the family firm and pursuing my PS licensure. I have the freedom to expand the types of work that we accept, but am somewhat unsure of where to go from there and what type of work to be looking for thatβs more on the βgreenβ or βearth friendlyβ side of things, other than just finding developers that are also environmentally-conscious.
Is there anyone out there that has experience with this realm of surveying? I am planning on looking into wetland delineation and floodplain management as those seem like two areas that may incorporate conservation and surveying, as well as something which will become a more prevalent need with climate change. Other than that, any advice, types of companies to seek out, or areas of work related to this would be greatly appreciated!
Iβm in high school, and would like to become a OLS. Iβm wondering what would be the best way to do this is, from what iβve heard of you go to UNB, UCalgary or BCIT for geomatics in engineering you donβt have to write the OLS exams. Is this the best way to do it? And is there any other schools that you donβt have to write the OLS exams? Because iβd prefer to stay in Ontario. Thanks.
Weβd like to get our lot lines figured to put up a fence. Anyone have a surveyor theyβd recommend?
