A list of puns related to "Indymedia"
Takes One To Know One...
I spent a lot of time on my own entertaining myself as a kid/young adult and so I consumed a ton of media. I particularly enjoyed this team of two guys from Canada (I think rural Ontario? I'm not too sure.) Who started their own independent media organization out of their houses. The dudes put their entire lives into it, and spent a ton of time recording themselves. I remember they used to call their fans Wogs (this was established in their Canadian/American fanbase before anyone knew it was a racist term in GB/AUS) and did a ton of work developing "go bags" and discussing politics/philosophy/economics. They were goofballs but their earnestness in helping people always shown through.
I remember they had a pretty regular podcast (I can't remember if it was daily or weekly or what) but the intro they used was Punk Rock Song by Bad Religion, and I think the outro was Holiday in Cambodia by Dead Kennedys. It might have been a video podcast? I can't remember.
Anyway, I don't know if they are still putting out content or not but I'd like to know what happened to them. I just can't for the life of me remember what the name of any of their stuff was.
I looked up IndyMedia after watching one of the Seattle WTO videos.
The site is full of worringly deranged conspiracy theories.
Anyone is free to post there, but I'm confused as to why they have covid hoax, anti mask, anti vax, fluoride conspiracies and the like on there.
Fairly worrying to be honest, that kind of disinformation promotes serious mental illness. There's even two separate posts defending a person who's being sectioned under the mental health act, which says a lot.
