A list of puns related to "Illegal Opcode"
I remember reading that the 6502 had some undocumented opcodes that had some interesting functionality.
So I tried enabling sr-iov in my HP DL380P G8's bios, and it results in it not being able to get through the POST with it's red screen of death.
any idea why? I think the only way I know to fix it is to flip the service management dip switch to clear nvram/cmos. (though if someone knows a better way, that would be useful, annoying to pull out machine and switch it back and forth)
Hi.
I've implemented 6502, but i don't want to test illegal opcodes, also i haven't implemented graphics in my emulator, so i cannot simply choose set of instructions to test.
How can i do this?
I'm running nestest in an emulator in development, and everything matches exactly, right up to the point where the ROM starts to contain illegal opcodes.
That moment is line 5008 in my file (pc = 0xc6bd) β https://gist.github.com/jogloran/1ccc466e66619f7ddabea84203764b3c.
At that point, everything seems to go off the rails. I haven't been able to find any info online from devs who have run into issues around the illegal opcodes in nestest. How is an emulator meant to not deal with illegal opcodes and still pass nestest?
I have actually implemented dummy support for the illegal opcodes so that the instruction stream doesn't desync β my emulator knows the number of cycles taken by, and number of bytes expected after each illegal opcode, but it treats them all as NOPs.
EDIT: Ok, I've seen that nestest is meant to be run only as far as c66e. (https://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?t=16449)
Am I using the wrong SPP or something?

I was under the impression this was the correct iso for a g8
Hello everyone. I have been attempting to build this ML350 G6 for my own data storage, encoding, streaming and light web hosting use. I have a 250 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD I want to use on the onboard SATA controller for Windows Server 2016, with six typical SATA platter drives on the SAS backplane. Whenever the SSD is plugged into one of the onboard SATA ports, the server halts in the POST while seeking bootable media on the available controllers, presenting a red error screen titled Illegal OpCode with many error codes listed:
Once the SSD is disconnected from the SATA port, the server proceeds normally and can access the BIOS, USB keys, any other firmware, etc.
Specs are as follows: HP ProLiant ML350 G6 Tower Single Xeon E5504 20 GB DDR3 RDIMM Motherboard 511775-001 Revision A Embedded HP Smart Array P410i
Here is what I have tried: -Deleting RAID array volumes and removing HDDs from the cage. -Setting boot order in BIOS to USB keys first then boot controller with onboard SATA before onboard RAID. -Disabling the onboard HP RAID controller in the BIOS completely. -Checking the SDD in other systems and verifying functionality. -Wiping the SDD completely of all volumes from former installs. -Attempting a hot-swap of the SDD once POST passes while it is disconnected (Server 2016 reports no drives, not sure if this controller is hot-swappable but it probably isn't).
All result in either no drive present to the Windows installer or the Illegal OpCode red screen. I am not well-versed in server hardware so I may be doing something stupid here but I cannot figure out why anything would have an issue with a working SSD like this. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I was planning on getting a LSI HBA controller card to operate this backplane so keeping the onboard HP RAID disabled is not an issue for me. The SATA controller however is needed and it's really confusing to me as to why it would have an issue with a SSD. Thanks for your time.
EDIT: I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who helped out, especially UKWaffles, but I've still not had good luck with this system functioning with a SSD the way I need. I want to keep this question open in hopes of someone coming across with a good solution. In the meantime, I may try a PCI-E SATA expansion card once I purchase one and see how that does. One way or another I'm going to continue with this G6. Thanks again.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
Hi All,
I've been able to successfully convert some drives previously that were 520 byte size to 512 (using sg_format if I remember correctly) and this all worked fine.
Now, I am looking to convert some drives that are 512 to 520. Is this at all possible and if so is it just a case of using the same command but specifying 520 instead?
I've tried it but getting the error of :
Descriptor format, current; Sense key: Illegal Request
Additional sense: Parameter list length error
Descriptor type: Sense key specific: Field pointer:
Error in Command: byte 7 bit 7
Descriptor type: Field replaceable unit code: 0x5
Descriptor type: Vendor specific [0x80]
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
MODE SELECT command: Illegal request sense key, apart from Invalid opcode
Can any let me know what might be going on ? Is it a limitation on the drive or just not possible at all?
Thanks.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
It really does, I swear!

Edit: Thank you guys for the awards, they're much nicer than the cardboard sleeve I've been using and reassures me that my jokes aren't stale
Edit 2: I have already been made aware that Men In Black 3 has told a version of this joke before. If the joke is not new to you, please enjoy any of the single origin puns in the comments
