What is the difference between "Delusion of Reference" and "Delusional Perception"?
I searched for the terms on this subreddit and found one explanation but tbh I still didn't understand the difference.
I always thought that if a patient told you that;
"I saw an airplane in the sky and knew then that there was a conspiracy against me"
then that was Delusion of Reference.
However in my question bank they asked what you would call
"When I heard the railway station master's whistle, I knew that there was a plot to attack me."
and i picked delusion of reference but the answer was delusional perception. Can anyone explain why?
ELI5: Why do delusions often involve versions of god, satan and immaculate conception/bizarre pregnancy references?
I work in an emergency department and when we have psych patients with hallucinations or delusions, they generally involve these three topics. God and satan make more sense I suppose, but what is it with demon babies/vampire babies/ninja babies/immaculate conception babies, etc??

Coworker goes to leave, "hey A I cleaned out those tea jugs for you"
(Me jumping up and getting in her face)

WTFFFF IS HAPPENING"
She laughs at me. And says "yep your manic"
I said "I just want to runaway. Holy shit that's a Linkin Park song"
She belly laughs again.
Someone at the bar kept playing Linkin Park which is my big one, from my 1st episode last year. Everywhere I go it's being played.
But, I have arthritis so today it was a "pop an ibuprofen for breakfast" kind of morning, but here I am with diahrrea of the mouth. With a little bit more mobility.
But on the way home, I got this flash of "I'm so annoying, why did I have to talk so much? My friends (also co-workers) don't actually like me, they are just being nice because they feel sorry for me. I'm such a burden. They probably hate talking to me, and they all share that with each other. I want to die"
But here I am. Trying not to write A because I write her about it, and she said you're not a burden. But I don't believe her. Don't even believe we are friends.

Can your mind make fake hallucinations? Like when you think you see something but you know your mind is just tricking your eyes? Or is that a problem?

Here’s how it came up for me tonight - my mom eagerly told me a story of her praying to God at night in her suburban backyard, “God, it would be really neat to see a screeching owl.” Lo and behold a fucking native suburban screeching owl flew by and validated her beliefs. Meanwhile, family members with chronic pain remained unhealed.
