A list of puns related to "Hwoarang"
I try to have fun on ranked but all I do is fight hwoaramg after hwoarang. Don't know how to counter him and he's in general a pain in the ass to fight. And if I'm not fighting him, I'm fighting a dlc character.
This is meant as an educational post elaborating upon a common misconception about Hwoarang and Taekwon-Do in general. Till an extent it is reactionary to Mainman's recent upload. I think his content is entertaining and I can totally understand the confusion around Hwoarang's A-Tier throw game.

Bandai Namco does a fantastic job at implementing martial arts and fighting styles with great accuracy, and Hwoarang is no exception. His animations were based off motion captures performed by Su Il Hwang. A 7th Dan Black belter in ITF Taekwon-Do. ITF (International TKD Federation) Taekwon-Do is a more traditional form of Taekwon-Do and is quite different from the more sparring based WT (World TKD) Taekwon-Do. So the the Taekwon-Do you see in Tekken is the more traditional ITF form. ITF has a strong military background and a large focus on self-defense, of which ground fighting is an essential part. My only guess is that Su Il Hwang or an ITF fighting style advisor helped design Hwoarangs moveset and, rightfully so, emphasized the importance of ground fighting, grappling and throwing within Taekwon-Do.
To further illustrate my point. Here is a fragment taken from the Encyclopedia of ITF Taekwon-Do showing what looks like Hwoarangs b2+4 throw. https://imgur.com/a/3oUbcRT
Taekwon-Do is most famous for its spectacular kicks, however, believing Taekwon-Do only consists of kicks is a false narrative. The martial art encompasses a large array of fighting techniques. Throws are just as much part of Taekwon-Do as kicks are. Hopefully I was able to shed some light on why the Taekwon-Do guy is a wrestler, and why, Bandai Namco deserves praise for their dedication in accurately portraying martial arts.

Being a 1st in Dan ITF Taekwon-Do myself
Hi guys,
I bought Tekken 7 a few weeks ago and have been playing on and off for a bit.
I played Hwoarang for a while before exploring the rest of the roster and ultimately settling on Noctis. Ive been maining Noctis for the past 2-3 weeks but it just doesnt feel right. I feel kinda dirty for playing such an easy and straight forward character. Winning feels good, but it's not what i expected.
After looking around for a bit I circled back to Hwoarang. I love the flashy kicks and pressure he puts out. I really want to main him but I'm either a complete idiot, or his moves are just way too complicated for me. I get him into LFS or RFS and then my mind completely blanks out and I end up mixing up the LFS and RFS follow-up strings, which results in a weak kick or feint.
Should I give up for now and try Hwoarang again once I have a better understanding of the game? Maybe it's just too much to all take in at once.

Both weren't all that risky...lol. I'm wondering if it would of really hurt for him to have this in T7..damn the d+4,4 is +9 on block wow..I reckon the high is super easy to launch and the mid doesn't give much reward. Heck it might not even be a combo on normal hit idk.. If anything I would be happy with d+3,4 just having more reliable wall splat it's already -31 it least give him that lol. How would you want Hwoarang's cactus shot to be balanced?
Its a lot of other cool stuff in the Tag 2 movelist too..
How do you think these two differ. I've heard by many people they operate quite similarly. What are some core difference in their gameplan and which do you think is more difficult to play overall and who is stronger?
Why Hwoarang Wants To Kill Jin? Does he feel hate against him?
During punish practice against Hwoarang, most punishable moves are 12 frames. Which is fine, but when I fight them online. They have insane pressure that beats even jabs. Like a kick would beat a jab and whenever they do longer frame move, they immediately follow up with a power crush move basically being virtually invincible. A lot of times, I'd be cornered trying to find an opening but never do and die. I find this super tricky.
What are the common pressure patterns I can input in practice mode to respond to pressures like this?
