A list of puns related to "Holland Park"
Hi all. Due to scheduling for the next few days, I can only get my daily walk in before sunrise. Has anyone walked in Holland Park before the sun comes up? Is it well lit and generally safe?
Edit: Thanks for the info, neighbors!
Edit2: Yes, for the most part it is fine, except for the congregation of the roofless by the washrooms. Walked by on my first lap, minding my business, but was approached by two guys who asked what I was up to (and likely looking to sell me some street medication). I responded "getting my steps in" and they left.
When nancy and jonathan called miss holland and told her they havnt told the truth about barbra and that they should meet up in the park. Why didnt she show up?
Does anyone know why the traffic toward the Holland Tunnel is backed up to such an extreme level this afternoon/evening? Bumper to bumper moving at a snail's pace on any of the bigger streets. The honking is almost (but not quite) getting as annoying as the the low-flying helicopter noise pollution...
My vet told me the vaccine is not 100% so I'm not sure what to do. I bought a backpack so I can put him in it and go on walks but I know he will want to get out and walk like he has since he was a bunny. Any advice?
So I was lucky enough to go to Holland Park and see the peacocks recently. Sadly I found out that there are only 4 males left now. As recently as 2011 there were 6 males, 8 females and 6 chicks. But for reasons unknown (including attacks by dogs walked off leads) the population is sadly down to 4 males. 2 died from dog attacks during lockdown, sadly.
So the peacocks which have inhabited Holland Park since 1950 will soon die out. There are plenty of peacocks in the world, of course, and they are a non-native species. The rich inhabitants living around there will perhaps be happy too as they have previously dug up their gardens and scratched their cars. But I feel sad that London is losing something quite special. They are beautiful creatures.
Is anyone aware of a community which want to ensure a peacock presence in the park? It would be quite cheap (~Β£200) to buy a peahen and release it in the park. But it would be illegal as it would be releasing a non native species to the wild. And who knows if it could learn to live in the park.
Just wanted to share my thoughts and hear what others think about this.
Heading to Holland State Park and wanna poke you guys for any info on opportunities to put my fly in the water. As well, any surf fly fishing opportunities at Lake Michigan right there?
Not the right board for this next question, but any tips for spinner fishing from shore there at Lake Mac or Lake Michigan? Iβd love to be able to cast a long way and then wait while I relaxβ¦but I have no idea what baits/weights/rigs to use. I picked up a spinning rod today but felt like a fish out of water while looking at hooks, weights, and baits π
Any help is appreciated!
