Or is it just a convention because we metrics are forced to adapt crap from imperial and the most used units from imperial are closer approximates to milli/centi/kilo?
I have the vague memory that much of my exposure to the system involved learning a load of prefixes and doing seemingly silly conversions like “how many cubic centiX in a cubic millX”. I imagine the latter might serve a pedagogical goal outside of metric, but could be met with other conversions (even eg. kilo vs mega).
But what in your opinion would be the effect of sticking to the 10^3s (mega, kilo, milli, micro), with maybe a sidenote about centi being in common use?
I just finished the "Rust: The Programming language" book. I feel a little lost and that it didn't stuck well in my mind. Are there any fancy small projects that I could do to get a better hang of rust? (and programming in general)

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
