I can't for the life of me get HDCP 2.2 working with my LG C1

Here's what I have:

  • 65" LG C1 updated to 03.25.10 firmware

  • Denon AVR-S760H

  • Apple TV 4k

  • NVIDIA Shield TV (2019 edition with Dolby Vision)

  • Xbox One X

I've tried unplugging the TV for 5 minutes. I've tried forcing HDCP 2.3 in the Denon receiver. I've tried connecting directly to the TV and leaving the Denon completely unplugged. I've tried factory resetting the TV after applying the firmware update. HDMI Deep Color is set to 4k on the TV. HDMI Signal Format is set to "8K Enhanced" on the Denon receiver. I can play local 4k Dolby Vision files with Plex without issue. But every time I go into the diagnostics view on the TV (Channels then press 11111111, and then More) it shows HDCP 2.2 as "-".

The issues I'm having are:

  • Playing 4k blu-rays on the Xbox One X only output 1080p

  • Playing a 4k movie from the Microsoft movies app on the Xbox One X pops up a notification saying it's only playing back in HD because my hardware doesn't support UHD playback

  • HBO Max on the Shield TV doesn't output Dolby Vision

  • HBO Max switches to Dolby Vision on the Apple TV but shows a black screen (with sound coming out of the receiver) when trying to play a Dolby Vision movie

Is there something I'm missing here? The only thing I'm not using are HDMI 2.1 cables but they are high quality high speed cables with ethernet, and I can play Dolby Vision files locally from Plex without issue as well as play Dolby Vision games on the Xbox One X and both work perfectly fine, so I don't think it's a bandwidth issue with the cables. As well, it doesn't seem like HDCP requires new cables. Any ideas of what to try next?

The LG C1 HDCP update is out. Might have to unplug the TV for it to apply.

I'm in the USA and I finally got the update this morning.

For the update to HDCP to actually work I had to unplug the TV. Just turning it off and back on didn't work.

The firmware number will end in .80. Make sure HDMI Deep Color is enabled.

Edit - according to a post below you may just need to leave it turned off for a few minutes.

LG C1 & G1 hit by HDCP 2.2 Bug, But Firmware Fix is Coming

https://youtu.be/ifkarBLgnWw

Just got my C1 delivered yesterday from Amazon with an OCT 2021 manufacture date. My PS5 does show me a message that HDCP 2.3 is not supported and it’s currently displaying HDCP 1.4… bummer.

Nov 17 update: New firmware is rolling out now. Firmware 03.20.80 to be exact. Per LG, it might take a few days to reach all devices. Woot woot!

Side note: I've seen impressions on twitter on the beta of the new 03.20.80 firmware that it fixes the HDCP issue but ONLY on HDMI 1, but not the other HDMI inputs. Hoping it's not true, cause it would be another embarrassment for LG. Or at least that it was just a beta issue and that the public release today actually fixes all HDMI inputs on its official release today...

HDCP compliance?

I have an MPG341CQR, does anyone know if this is HDCP compliant? I've looked as many places as I can think of online. I'm not sure if it only has version 1.4 or no certification at all. I've read on many websites that for a long while it has been seen as a very standard feature to have some sort of certification and for an 2019 release 850 dollar monitor not to have it seems unlikely to me.

Hdcp error on new tv with Roku ultra.

I got a new (to me) tv for Christmas, avizio d65x-g4.. when I connect it to my Roku ultra and play ANYTHING… not Netflix, YouTube, Hulu nothing…

I have tried 3 brand new cables, all different brands. It’s not the cable…

The old tv worked fine, but it was 1080p, an older LG(about 10years old)

And even if I kick the Roku down to 1080 and 1.4 it does not work. I have tried everything but almost every website says β€œcable” well, that’s not the problem this time… is there something in the software to change to fix this crap??? I’ve been a Roku user for many years, and this is disappointing

Follow-up: it looks like LG has sorted out HDCP/eARC handshake issues with some Vizio soundbars

A while back, I had issues with both my M512a-H6 and M51a-H6 soundbars when paired with my LG CX through HDMI eARC. Specifically, the soundbar would not connect properly and would only play 2.1 audio instead of 5.1, with volume control disabled on the LG Magic Remote.

After months of use, I am now realizing that for the past 3 months, I have had no issues with my LG CX and M51a-H6. Every time I turn on the TV, the soundbar also powers up properly, with proper 5.1 output for games and movies.

I have no proof since LG's patch notes aren't super detailed all the time, but it looks like some HDCP/eARC handshake issues have been sorted out on LG's side, because I haven't updated my soundbar's firmware in 4 months or so.

LG C1 HDMI/HDCP 2.2 issue

New owner of a LG C1 (65") - loving everything about it so far but it seems we've run into an issue that is shared by a number of people.

This thread explains all - but mainly that the HDMI isn't working at HDCP 2.2, so anything requiring it, Sky Q UHD in this instance, refuses to work - Sky Q UHD Error 011 - Latest Tech, no obvious reason.

We're not sure what the solution will be, remote update or replacement, but a few of us have contacted LG, yet to hear anything back.

Reliable HDMI splitter/capture card that strips HDCP?

I'm in the desperate search for an HDMI splitter that strips HDCP so I can watch live TV on my laptop since my monitors HDMI ports don't work. I have a USB 2.0 HDMI capture card that strips HDCP excellently but it screws up my external webcam, so had to buy a USB 3.0 HDMI capture card which I found out later that it doesn't strip HDCP. So I bought this one that a lot of people said it strips HDCP but whenever I connect it to my laptop in any port I try it doesn't work. I don't know if this is an HDCP issue or if it's the HDMI capture card or what. I can briefly see my live TV with this new splitter on this USB 3.0 so I can guess that it works for just a bit but just flat out freezes afterwards. This doesn't happen with my old USB 2.0 capture card so yeah. Really any recommended capture cards with USB 3.0 or an HDMI splitter that 100% works in stripping TiVo HDCP is very welcome.

LG CX HDCP 1.4

My PS5 and Onkyo receiver have been connected to my TV for a few weeks and everything has worked fine up until last night. I turned on my PS5 and got a message that the TV was not HDCP 2.2 complaint. Not sure what caused this to happen. I connected my PS5 directly to my TV and the PS5 info is saying it’s a 1.4 device. I’ve reset my onkyo to factory but not the tv. Maybe that is what I should try doing. I’ve had the same Hdmi Cable for almost a year.

Something else to add to this, was recently I got a service remote from amazon and I was playing around with it and I hit the In-Stop button and put in the password thinking it would take me to another menu and not realizing it was going to factory reset the TV. Could that have caused an issue with hdcp?

Can't record anything using ReLive. Disabling HDCP does nothing. Still "disabled due to protected content"

I've tried restarting, reinstalling drivers, recording with basically nothing else running, yelling at my PC (so very, very effective, lemme tell you), etc

At this point I'm thinking of reverting back to my previous NVIDIA card because recording on that was always painless and amazing quality. AMD's codecs are obviously not as good because recordings are much lower than NVIDIA's quality level, regardless of settings. Also you can't get rid of the popup in the right saying you're recording. Not sure why AMD think this is acceptable when their competition's integration is so much better.

If anyone has any suggestions though, I'm happy to hear them. Cheers

Random HDCP errors

I have two Rokus of differnt models on two seperate TVs.

For the last couple of months I get random HDCP errors on both of them, no ryme or reason.

Not streaming 4K

TV's are not 4K nor HDR

Happens with more than one app, Noticed with Netflix, Disney+, Paramount +, likely others but haven't kept track.

Nothing has changed, TV's, HDMI cables, nothing.

Why after over a year (two years for one Roku) are they randomly claiming my TVs are not HDCP compliant?

Only thing I can think of is a bug in a recent Roku OS release...

Combined surround sound with a projector HDCP security question

I would super appreciate a checkover of if what I'm doing is dumb, and what next steps to take - or a better place to post this question!

I am using a Sonos system for surround sound for home theatre with an Epson home theatre projector all driven by a Mac laptop. I currently send the audio through airplay to the Sonos and use VLC media player to remove the audio delay that gets put in.

Because projectors don't have HDMI eARC output I'm not getting the full capabilities of the audio system. I understand that I could fix this with an HDFury Arcana unit.

I have also discovered that many of the streaming websites I use, including HBOmax will block me from playing content over the projector for BS security reasons.

Does anyone have experience with working around this DRM? Im not trying to pirate stuff, Im trying to access the content im already paying for with a really good/normal projector (Home Theatre 3800).
