A list of puns related to "Gov.uk"
Like many other people covid left me unemployed with no future after just finishing a degree. I went onto universal credit (the dole/welfare) and they encouraged me to join a kickstarter job where I'm paid minimum wage to do work that requires degree level digital skill. I wondered why they never kept on their previous kickstarter employees and found out that the government still pays 100% of my wages plus the company get a tax break. Fucking disgusting. Tory government that pretends they're lowering unemployment and cutting spending and its all a big fucking lie, what a surprise.
TL;DR: Government is creating fake jobs to pretend the economy isn't collapsing and tory friend corpos are getting highly skilled degree graduate labour for free out of it.
Should I wreck my companie's socials and google drive files while I still have access? I'm so angry I could beat my boss to death with the company laptop he gave me.
Edit: For people who aren't understanding the context, the government is paying more for this than they do for normal UC, it's not to save money it's to pretend they are. Also some people seem to have taken the liberty of assuming I've not had a job before. I've worked solidly since I was old enough to get a job as a paperboy at 13, then worked a normal 9-5 in a factory when I left school at 17,did a few jobs working tills at tesco, then worked in pubs for 6 years while also volunteering at a youth group and getting a degree until covid closed the entire hospitality industry.
British Government accused of trying to start an "AstroTurf grass roots campaign", with government funding for a Β£565,000 publicly paid for ad campaign. To attack end to end encryption, particularly for messaging. On "a think of the children" basis.

From 4am 7 December, you can take the test any time in the 2 days before the service on which you will arrive in England departs. Children 11 and under are exempt.
NAAT tests (PCR), Lateral flow/antigen and LAMP all accepted.
(ETA: other NAAT tests accepted eg IDNOW in US - available at walgreens/CVS for free to non-citizens - appointment reqd). You will need to find a private test provider to take a test - NHS tests taken abroad won't be allowed.
Your test result can be provided as either:
It must include:
Like you all - I'm extremely exhausted over all these changes. I leave for US in a week and things constantly keep changing. This will definitely have a negative impact on tourism in the UK sadly.
I have enquired about counsel housing before but because I am single and childless and not in danger and living in a nice neighbourhood, not physically disabled, etc I am too far down the priority list to ever get anything.
I currently live at home, I think the next step for me is to move out but I cannot work due to severe depression and social anxiety. There are some problems at home due to a drug addicted sibling.
UCredit suggest you rent privately. I am already in receipt of disability benefits via UCredit but after using a few of their calculators it appears a basic room to rent in either my local town or the nearest city come to more than the total allowance.
So I don't really understand - have I made a mistake or is it impossible to access housing for me unless I begin a full time job? I am chronically suicidal and cannot do this yet, but I feel moving out and being more independent would at least get me a step towards it.
Idk if the post made sense or if this is the wrong sub, sorry
Currently I get just over Β£650 from the government while living with family but this is the same cost as the minimum rent for a room in my town it seems. I don't think you get more money for housing anymore ddo you?
Can this be correct?? Do I not need a rapid test before I fly? I can just take a video of myself taking the test?? Or a photo?? And it'll be accepted???
Hi all,
I've been thinking about switching careers for a couple of years but haven't been able to study at home due to various reasons (new house, new baby). I was looking at paid Bootcamps but couldn't really justify leaving my job and also shelling out 8-9k for the course.
I have however noticed the free UK Gov Bootcamps set up by the Institute of coding (through Bath university) and wonder what people think about this course or if anyone has taken it: https://www.bathspa.ac.uk/business/skills-bootcamps/web-development-bootcamp/
I'm under no illusions that I'd walk straight into a well-paid job after taking the course but wonder if the topics studied seem on point and up-to-date? I live in a fairly techy city (Bristol) and I'm assuming that they'll be some junior positions available here, after looking at job boards, but I may be wrong!
Any advice would be great. (Edit - I'm also 42 - much harder to get into the field?).
I have requested for them to show my right to work and I entered my details of BRP and the website says they cannot share my details and that I have to show my BRP to the employer
I recently bought a 2015 Renault Zoe, and wanted to ask if the property I am at would be eligible for the charge point installation grant, before it expires on 1/04/2022.
Does the lack of driveway/garage immediately rule me out?
There is a detected small business unit next door, itβs offset from the pavement enough that the car could be pulled up in front of it and along side my property, and plugged in, without being an interference to pedestrians. (Would only do this on closed business hours, ie overnight, to not be blocking the business premise).
If no, follow-up question would be, could I get the charge point installed at my parents? Would the car have to be registered at that address? Any other way if the registration is at my current address?
