A list of puns related to "Good Housekeeping"
When I tried Linux mint it crashed then I got help and the community fixed it and gave me an updated kernel, but that got me wondering, what is some housekeeping/maintenance that you guys do so everything runs smoothly and quickly?
Once upon a time, the "Good Housekeeping" magazine's "Seal of Approval" was used to denote products of good quality and reputation.
Today, I'm thinking that a WallStreetSilver sticker placed on the door or the cash register or website of a business could be this era's "Seal of Approval", a marker of those businesses who get it.
My neighbor had asked me to watch her cat and dog while she was out of town (feeding, water and letting them in and out). Her son ended up taking the dog for a few days. I had no problem remembering to go over and take care of the cat, thankfully. The son randomly dropped the dog off without telling me, so I was surprised to see the dog there when I went over to let the cat out. It was then that I noticed the bright yellow spot in the middle of the mat in front of the sink. I was embarrassed that he had an accident on my watch and put the mat in the sink to wash. The yellow was very persistent. I let the mat soak for about a day in a half before I noticed the words. βWhen life gives you lemons.β It dawned on me. Itβs not pee, itβs a π. Then I noticed she has an IDENTICAL mat in front of her stove (in a very small kitchen). Iβm still so embarrassed thinking about it and Iβm so glad I didnβt mention it to her when I considered it. I had been in the house several days at that point and would have been mortified. Iβm also glad I didnβt ruin her mat and just ended up leaving it a bit cleaner. Itβs funny in hindsight, but also terrifying. I donβt know how to avoid these sort of things because they happen so randomly. Thankfully, I will be housekeeping for a hotel so it will be similar rooms with the same items, but Iβm still worried about messing up.
I bought this 1963 Good Housekeeping Cookbook at a tag sale a few years ago in almost mint condition. Was finally able to dig it out of storage since we bought our house last year!
