A list of puns related to "Glycolic Acid"
Are they self neutralising peels?
I live in New Zealand so its summer here at the moment. I've been doing outdoor work all summer (which has stopped now) and was a bit insecure about my skin... I had been over moisturising (probably for the same reason) and this put me in the mindset to think what i needed was a bit of exfoliation. I know. So stupid.
I used the Ordinary 7% glycolic toner once with a soaked makeup pad (again, so stupid). The next day, ran one 5 minute errand in the afternoon and got dinner in town in the evening, around 6pm so the sun was still out and relatively hot. I'm pretty sure I wore sunscreen, and always hats. I used it once again 4 days later.
Basically, though it might have been from the cumulation of getting a slight tan working outdoors for a month, my skin has been tints darker since i used the glycolic. And super tingly... and sensitive especially to the sun. Feeling pretty awful about it. I hope things get better
Just wanted to make this PSA because I see a lot of praise of this product. And not a lot of warnings around how to use it safely... seems like some people can use every day, others once a week, others even less frequently. I am not going to be using it again until the end of summer here in New Zealand.
The product instructions say to use a cotton pad but I wonder why that is? I feel like Iβm throwing away so much product soaked into the pad..
Hello beautiful people!
I hope this post is allowed admins?
I am currently using the Sunday Riley Good Genes (glycolic acid treatment). It works and does what itβs supposed to.
However it is indeed £££ and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on products that are just as good as this one?
I use it everyday or two days if I forget which is why for me itβs a bit £££ even if I try to do the less is more approach.
Many thanks in advance :)
Slowly getting back into using TO products and I wanted to add glycolic acid into my routine because it did wonders for my skin when I used it years ago. Just wanted to make sure there were no contraindications.
Current routine:
AM:
Cerave Hydrating Face Wash
TO Argireline Solution 10% on forehead, smile lines and under the eye
TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% on T zone
TO "Buffet" on entire face (new addition still waiting to see how skin reacts)
neutrogena hydro boost
PM:
Cerave SA cleanser
TO Argireline Solution 10% on forehead, smile lines and under the eye
TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% on T zone
TO "Buffet" on entire face
neutrogena hydro boost
Additional:
Clay mask on T-Zone Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
TO AHA 30% + BHA 2% Exfoliating Peeling Solution on Wednesday
i'm currently on accutane and my dermatologist reccomended either glycolic or lactic acid a few times a week with moisturizer. i'm mainly trying to reduce the appearance of some surface acne scars. which one is best or should i try first??
The name of the product is :
Neutrogena Cellular Boost Facial Exfoliating Cream With Vitamin C + Glycolic Acid
Has anyone tried it for fast dekeratinization , to remove the keratin layer of the glans ?
Seems like a good product from a famous brand , and it is used in face , so could it be utilized in glans ?
As my title states, I need recommendations for those items: face wash, glycolic acid & vitamin c serum from like drugstore/Walmart sorta stores or I would be open to stuff that can be found on ulta.com since we donβt have our ownπ
Background: Iβm 36/f I have some pics in my profile that MAY give you an idea of my skin but idk how helpful theyβll be. I currently use Mary Kay Timewise Repair line but my mom always bought it for me & sent it to me. I think my skinβs somewhat sensitive, itβs very reactive like when I scratch an itch, like on my chest and sometimes face itβll leave nail marks & people w/ ask what happened w/ concern, & I have to just say my skinβs very reactive, I am being allergy tested next week. I have seborrhoeic dermatitis on my eyebrows that I typically wash separately w/ medicated shampoo.
TIA!π
I have been using the ordinary glycolic acid toner for a year and a half now and have never had any problems/irritation that i know of. I now would also like to try the ordinarys salicylic acid face masque and while i know you shouldnβt combine these two acids at once, I am assuming itβs ok to use both these products as long as I use them on different days? If anyone can confirm this that would be great
Current routine:
AM:
β’Benzac AC 5 Wash
β’Bionike Defence Sun 50+ Fluid (only if I'm going to be in the sun)
PM:
β’Eucerin Dermatoclean Refreshing Cleansing Gel (replaced with Eucerin Dermopurifyer Scrub once a week)
β’Eucerin Dermopurifyer Micellar Water
β’Skin Functional 2% Ceramide + GABA Liquid Moisturiser
β’Eucerin Dermopurifyer Skin Renewal Treatment OR Bionike Aknet Azelike Plus (on alternating nights)
I still have some closed comedones on my cheeks that are not going away despite removing products with comedogenic ingredients (although the new formula of my moisturiser is now more comedogenic than the previous formula, but ceramide moisturisers are hard to find in my country).
I'm thinking about dropping the Skin Renewal Treatment and the Aknet Azelike in favour of 6% Glycolic acid toner and 0,1% retinaldehyde, and adding a squalane oil to my night routine.
I know I have to work up to using any retinol by starting with once a week, twice a week and so on. So I'm thinking about adding that in while I've still got some of my other products to alternate on nights when I'm not using the retinol.
However, once I've slowly added the retinol to my routine, is it fine to alternate nights with the 6% glycolic acid, or is that over exfoliation? I'm also going to use the squalane oil as an additional protection for my moisture barrier.
Hi all! I use a .025% tret every other day and a .05% one of those days. I used to use it every day but I noticed that my pours look much better using it less often in the winter. I'd like to incorporate glycolic acid 1-2 times mid-cycle because I had a professional peel recently and found it to be really helpful but my skin is dry and I'm a bit concerned about how well I'll tolerate it. Any recs on incorporating it? How many days should I avoid using tret before and after? What percentage should I use? Should I start off with a toner or a low percentage gel/peel? Since I'm not looking to use it frequently, will I need to use a higher percentage to see effects? What brands do you recommend? Maybe azelaic acid is a better way to go? And anything else you think would be helpful/worth considering.
I already made an agreement with myself that I should buy the Glycolic and Salicylic acid and Retinol for my underarms and KP. But I saw a video in yt that Arbutin is the key here. And obviously the cheaper option is the Kojic Acid Soap, which I tried already but it didn't worked on me "significantly" and I'm a broke high school student. I know I need the Retinol and the Alpha Arbutin so that's not debatable for me. But since I want to purchase Cerave's SA Cleanser that technically has salicylic in it. So should I ditch the salicylic acid? BUUUUT I've really really want to try the salicylic acid as it exfoliates the pores unlike the Glycolic acid it can only do the surface? So should I ditch the Glycolic acid instead? But I've seen many Glycolic acid succes stories than salicylic ones so I'm just confused. Especially I'm broke.
Also I am choosing between the Cerave SA smoothing cream vs the Amlactin lotion for my KP. I tried the Azelaic Acid but it didn't worked significantly but for my pores in my face it did. And then I saw another one on youtube, a product that claims to remove hyperpigmentation. It's the Vanish PFB Ultra. Has anyone used this product and got good results?
This weekend I read 5 Retinol Myths, Busted from the Paula's Choice Expert Advice section, and two of the five were about using leave-on exfoliants before retinol. As in, their team (including a board-certified dermatologist) said that they're totally fine to be used together, one after the other. That's so far from common wisdom, I needed to jump into the literature. Unfortunately, I no longer have an academic license, so some articles I was able to get at the local university library, while others I could only read the abstract.
I found that there's lots of articles researching products that contained both a hydroxy acid and a retinoid that were effective and well tolerated, but I worried that those products would have been specifically formulated to work with both. And then I found this abstract which describes a review of the literature around using glycolic acid to reduce the irritation of retinoids. All of the studies showed some decrease in irritation, but the one that most replicated my use case was a very small trial of a 0.15% retinol emulsion cream being used on people unused to retinoids, with or without a 7.5% glycolic acid treatment. The people who used the glycolic acid had a significant reduction in redness and dryness and a strong reduction in peeling at 4 weeks.
Because I don't have access to the review article, I haven't been able to figure out where the original trial was published . If anyone has academic access to journals, Iβd love to see if we can dive into it.
That said, I'd love to know what the rest of you think. Does anyone use both in their evening routine? Have any of the rest of you read any of this research?
I hear glycolic acid and azelaic acid could be a good alternative to tret, and my skin seems to tolerate both loads better.
Perhaps in the future I will try a low dose of tret again, but for now glycolic acid is making my skin very happy.
Has anyone transitioned away from tret and found something that worked better for you?
I've noticed a drastic decrease in smelly armpits even after exercising. Infact, there's hardly a smell, and I'm not even using a normal deodorant to mask any smell. I usually sweat a ton too even in cold weather
All I'm doing is this:
No irritation whatsoever. And it works from Day 1. I recommending people do this too.
As an aside, it will probably lighten underarms and decrease/prevent wrinkles when done overtime
For as long as I've had boobs, I've had these big clogged pores allover them. I would pick and pick at them, they were so annoying and all I could see when I looked down at my boobs. I recently started applying The Ordinary glycolic acid toner on them and they are gone! I've dealt with them for years and tried stridex everyday, nothing worked. Literally within maybe 3 days they are completely gone. Just thought I'd share this if you have this issue and haven't tried this method yet. :) (also I started using it on my armpits and no more BO, is this a miracle product??? Lol)
*They are sebaceous filaments, like the 'blackheads' some people get on their nose. They weren't causing any issues besides aesthetic, sf's can be really hard to get rid of.
I've heard great things about the serum (and I was gifted a bottle) and I'd like to incorporate it into my skincare routine. Thing is, in the morning I use TO Glycolic Acid and at night I use the Differin (adapalene .1%). I know there are some ingredients/actives that you can't mix with retinols or AHA. I looked up the ingredients of the Byroe Tomato Serum, but I'm not super knowledgeable in the ingredient names for things like Vitamin C, etc. This is a long shot, but does anyone know if I could use the Tomato Serum after either the glycolic acid or Differin without causing a negative reaction? I've included the ingredient list here from the Byroe website if it helps:
Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Methyl Gluceth-20, Polyglycerin-3, 1,2-Hexanediol, Alcohol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Dippropylene Glycol, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Leaf Extract, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Acrylates /C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Beta-Glucan, Polyquaternium-51, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Pteris Multifida Extract, Tromethamine, Butylene Glycol, Fructooligosaccharides, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Tocopherol, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Brassica Rapa (Turnip) Leaf Extract, Capsicum Annuum Fruit Extract, Cichorium Intybus (Chicory) Leaf Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Solanum Tuberosum (Potato) Pulp Extract
When I read about this chemical/product I sometimes see it be referred to as both so I donβt really know which one it is.
My purging and peeling is still going strong after 5 months of tret, I saw a post maybe 2 weeks ago that said glycolic acid did wonders for her skin. I happened to have a bottle of it and have used it on my off days with tret and my skin looks soooo much better!! No irritation from the glycolic acid and my skin is soft and actually starting to clear up. I guess all I needed was a little exfoliation. Thank you whoever that was!!!!!
iβve been shaving my armpits for years, making my armpits quite dark even after doing laser. iβve seen glycolic acid be recommended for getting rid of this issue - anyone know what percentage to use to start?
are there any other tips for getting rid of this? iβm going to start waxing/using nair but for the time being iβd really like to at least do something
I have 7% glycolic acid toner from the ordinary which I have used twice and love so far. I've been using tret (0.025% gel) 3 M-W-F, for a couple months. I take the weekend off from acids. I am curious if others have an interval they suggest? I have the tret for acne and have been using it since I stopped Accutane.
would it be ok to stay on my thrice weekly tret pattern but add glycolic acid to the weekend? does anyone alternate glycolic acid day 1 and tret day 2? or would that be too harsh?
thoughts?
Iβm using The Ordinary Glycolic acid 7% once at night if that helps. Iβm wondering if I should add TOs azelaic acid 10% in and if itβll cause any reactions. Thanks!
I want to purchase an acid item (hopefully around 6-10% for the concentration), I just don't know what kind of consistency would generate the best result. If they are the same, maybe toners are more cost-effective, because they usually come in a bigger bottle. But I also think that serums may perform better than toners.
Which one is better in a toner.
Just wondering if itβs ok to use a moisturiser with retinol after a face wash with glycolic acid? Thanks!
