A list of puns related to "Gilling"
The Ranji trophy is back bois (and girls) and begins tomorrow morning. This year the tournament is bigger by one team and we have 38 teams.
Format
The 38 teams are divided into 4 groups - A,B,C and Plate. Groups A and B are considered Elite, C is one division lower than A and B, Plate being the lowest. Groups A and B each have 9 teams, C and Plate have 10 teams each. The first round consists of a round robin league. The top 5 teams from the combined table of A and B, top 2 from C and top team from Plate advance to the QF after which it is a straight knockout.
Teams
Defending champs
Vidharbha are the (double) defending champs and will look to win a hat-trick of titles. Their campaign relied mainly on batting and burying the opposition under a mountain of runs. This very Mumbai-like approach was led by senior pro Jaffer who made more than 1000 runs last year. Other batting stalwarts include opener Faiz Fazal and pro Ganesh Satish. They have a reasonably good bowling attack and their first title run was supported by the swing of Rajneesh Gurbani and pace of Umesh Yadav, while the second one by their spinners. They are strong contenders this year too but face strong opposition.
Contenders
Karnataka are in red hot form winning both limited overs titles and will look to add one more title. They will be led by Manish Pandey whenever available. The batting line up is the envy of all teams with KL, Mayank, R Samarth, Padiakkal, Manish and Karun lining up but last year also saw the rise of Dega Nischal, KV Siddarth and BR Sharath who all stepped up when the first choice line up was away playing for India or India A. The bowling will be without Vinay Kumar after more than a decade but looks good with Ronith More, V Kaushik, Mithun, Prasidh, Gopal and Gowtham forming the core. Pravin Dubey emerged as another bowling option during the Vijay Hazare trophy. After two semifinal runs they will look to go all the way this time.
Mumbai are back with another blockbuster batting line up and you can never truly count Mumbai out. Shaw, Tare, SKY, Iyer, Rahane, Lad form the core of their batting line up and the bowling is led by Dhawal Kulkarni. The captaincy has finally settled on SKY after going on a merry go around between Tare, SKY, Iyer and Kulkarni. Shivam Dube will look to make a case for himself in the longer format too. He carried their team in the early stages last year but it looks like he will have good support this time around.

This is not my first time ordering from Grumpy, lets get that out of the way. This was by far my largest order (about 22 samples) and boy did Grumpy deliver! My order got here 3 days earlier than expected. Everything was packaged very securely and none of my syringes were damaged whatsoever.
Now as I said I've ordered from Grumpy before and he always includes some swag stickers, a slide and an airheads candy, and sometimes a special extra something something. However, this time I was floored, in addition to my already huge order, they sent me a 20 BOMB of Jedi Mind F**k!!! Yes you read that right not a 10cc, but a loaded to the gills *pun intended* 20 BOMB! (Now I wouldn't expect this normally, but it was incredibly appreciated)
Every one of the syringes had visible spores and as I go through them under the 'scope I know I'll have more to view from his product than just about anywhere else. u/GrumpyGillsFungi is one of ONLY two vendors I trust and I will continue to do business with him for as long as he continues to operate!

I'm currently a freshman, and I want to apply to HPM in Gillings during my sophomore year. This semester though, I only took one of the required classes, because I took mostly gen-eds for the rest, as I was still figuring out my major.
Before I apply to Gillings, I have left to take Econ 101, Math 231, and a BUSI class. I also want to take Chem 102 + L and have to take Eng 105. So my plan next semester is to take Econ 101, Math 231, a Busi class, Chem 102+L, and Eng 105.
However, one of the Prereqs for HPM says Biol 101 + L. I have credit from AP Bio, so could I use that to fulfill the gillings application pre req? I'm also pre-med so I was just planning on taking higher level bios instead of taking 101.
Also do I need to have all the prerequisites for HPM done before my first semester sophomore year or can I take them during that semester while applying?
Does anyone else have a 2 handed sheathe on their back when the Bedale-gilling sword is equipped in the right hand?

Hi everyone, so one of my close friends is scared he won't get into business school when he was originally HPM. He is asking if Kenan-Flager checks if you applied to another professional school on campus? Please comment below.
Hi everyone! I know Gillings has sent out decisions for some concentrations, but I haven't seen much for applied epidemiology. Does anyone know when we can anticipate these decisions or has anyone been accepted yet? Congrats to those who have!
Hi,
Iβm planning on applying to Gillings as an undergrad for their BSPH program. Iβll meet the requirements the first semester of my freshman year (fall semester). Does anyone know when applications open up and how long it takes them to reach a decision (would I be able to take classes at Gillings my 2nd semester of freshman year?)
Thanks!
is there anyone who has gotten into the gillings school that i can talk to? specifically people who have been admitted to health policy and management!
Hey everyone! I applied to the UNC Equity concentration by the priority deadline on 12/1 and sent my supplemental application in on 12/11. I haven't heard back yet and I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.
What do you guys think? Has anyone else heard back from the equity concentration or a different concentration? If you don't mind sharing, was it good or bad news?
Thanks everyone! :)
Hi all - I'm applying to UNC MPH programs right now and we have to apply to our 1st and 2nd choice concentrations. For anyone who is currently attending or recently graduated from UNC Gillings, can you shed more light on the concentrations? I'm interested in the Global Health Concentration but it seems like that is just a conglomeration of courses from other concentration departments. I'd love to learn more about which concentrations have the best faculty, are the most rigorous, are the most well-funded and respected, etc. Thanks so much!
Hi there ~ I'm an incoming grad student attending Gillings. I entered the lottery system for a parking permit but it looks like I was waitlisted :(. Does anyone know the chances of people actually getting off the waitlist?
Since I live far off-campus, I wanted to know if there were any other options? Are there other places (not through UNC) that offer parking for the year?
I'm not looking to take the transit system for personal reasons. Any tips or insight would be greatly appreciated!

For those who have heard from UNC, how long did it take for them to get back to you with an admissions decision?
One two three four I am walking to your door
Five six seven eight I am looking at your mate
Nine ten eleven twelve I am going kill your mate
Thirteen fourteen sixteen I am a goblin killer
Seventeen eighteen I am pizza, maker
For those of you living in small downtown apartments like me, I wanted to get your thoughts on if / how you've managed to successfully kill and clean any fish you've caught (particularly salmon or trout),
It's typically a pretty messy process, particularly if you haven't been able to bleed the fish effectively before hand. Do you all just wait to do everything at your home? Any tricks or recommendations?
Hello Everyone,
I recently got accepted into UNC Gillings School of Public Health's MPH program (concentration in Health Policy/Management). I am overjoyed about my admission to a phenomenal program, and normally would have already accepted before the April deadline. However, the pandemic has led to me overthinking and creating some anxiety about graduate school in general in this time. I was hoping I could have some advice/reassurance about my worries.
My "doomsday" scenario is I end up spending money to go to UNC out of state (30k per year for tuition alone) for 2 years in a virtual program that is not nearly as valuable or enjoyable as the in person experience. I am concerned at how isolated/different a virtual experience could be, especially in a new state/city where I do not have a network of friends/family and it is hard to meet people b/c covid restrictions. Upon graduation I would end up having a job that will struggle to repay the loans and costs (After research, the average salary for a new MPH can be as low as 30-45k).
Counter Points I already made to that include
- I have the opportunity for residency in my second year of UNC, which cuts the tuition down to 11k that year. Funding is also an option, but I also do not want to assume I am eligible - as I have stellar GRE scores but admittedly a slightly lower than average undergrad GPA (3.4) for admitted students in the program (average is 3.55)
- With the advancements in COVID 19 vaccines, there is a chance that graduate programs are open this fall (I loved my undergraduate experience and was very much looking forward to being a part of the UNC community; )
- The average salary for a new MPH may not reflect how it is for a UNC Gillings graduate, and graduates from such a prestigious program most likely do better (especially in administrative/consulting positions which interest me the most)
None of my concerns are with UNC Gillings as a program or a school, as it seems like the perfect program for me to continue my education. With all the uncertainty in the world right now, I know it is natural to have slight concerns about making such a big life change right now. Anyone's thoughts on virtual MPH programs, UNC Gillings funding/virtual learning, the Durham/Chapel Hill area, or any other relevant topic would be greatly appreciated. Right now I see no concrete reason to not accept such an amazing opportunity, but I just want to better align my expectations/anxieties.
Wondering if Gillings had a say in the decision to reopen school and if so what their suggestion was.
Im a first year aspiring biostats major. after this semester, i'll have a 3.4 something gpa bc i got a C in math 233. I have a teaching apprentice intern thing (biol 291) in the spring and a potential lab position in the spring as well. i will have completed the pre-reqs after the spring semester. Public Health School dean calls for UNC-Chapel Hill to shift to all online classes β Barbara Rimer, dean of the Gillings School of Global Public Health at UNC-Chapel Hill, says the university should abandon in-person classes this fall and shift to all online classes. "We have tried to make this work, but it is not working," she said in a blog.
Wasn't an article available , just that snippet go across the newswire. Interesting , and sooner than I expected.
