A list of puns related to "Gaoler"
I can see the value in dismissing a synergy, in some fringe situations, but how do you activate it exactly? What is it good for, apart from making Faceless easier, and using Dragons better maybe?
###Horton
King's Landing
7th Month, 215 AC
Horton had hardly been a jovial mood the entire way from King's Landing. The progress was supposed to be an opportunity for him. A chance to see lands he would never get to see otherwise. Damon had brought him to have a friend to share in the hunts with. But neither of them foresaw the change of events. Some brawl or another left this ironborn man imprisoned on the orders of the Crown Princess. Damon had been tasked with seeing the man home but, of course, the Queen's Justice intended to continue on with the progress. That meant the chore was delegated to Horton.
Instead of seeing the likes of Casterly Rock, Lannisport, and Highgarden he was now right back where he had spent every day of his life before leaving for Harrenhal. King's Landing. Wasn't there some captain in the Crown Princess's guard that could have handled escort duty? Why did it have to be a random huntsman who had happened to befriend the man tasked with supervising the cells? Horton supposed that question actually answered itself but he didn't want to see reason. He wanted to drink.
They trudged through the city gates and onwards toward the Red Keep. Horton wasn't as familiar with the cells as a proper gaoler would have been. Though he had visited them countless times when Damon had invited him for drinks with Jerry and Terry. It was Horton's intention to hand this man over and be done with this assignment.
Once within the Red Keep proper the retinue continued across Traitor's Walk and into the tower where the dungeons were housed. Horton pulled open the heavy iron and wood doors allowing the party to enter ahead of him. Jeremey, the chief gaoler, was waiting for them.
"Wasn't s'posed see you back so soon." He said as the familiar face of the Huntsman entered the tower. He spat onto the ground at his side.
"What ya bring me?"
Horton rolled his eyes. Jeremy and Terrance had never been his favorite people. Their personalities didn't jive with his. He loved being outdoors, in the fresh air, they seemed to thrive in the darkness of this tower.
"Lord Alyn Orkwood. He's to be held until his trial." Horton said looking at the ironborn man and then back towards Jerry. "Lord Damon wants him housed on the top floor. Comfort and care provided the other nobles. A view of the sea too."
Jerry's eyes studied their new guest with interest. He looked the man up and down and then nodded.
"Very well, we'll see it done." The man spat once more to th

Varys, as Rugen, works as an undergaoler in the Red Keep. I've been pronouncing this as Guh-owl-er in my head for the entire series. I feel a little embarrassed.
So, I was re-reading AFFC today and got to the part where we learn that Rugen, the undergaoler in charge of the Black Cells, has disappeared following Tyrion's escape. It occurred to me that Rugen was probably one of Varys's disguises, and that brought up a couple questions, which I will get to in a minute. First, some evidence that Rugen is actually Varys:
So, all of that is probably not a surprise to hardcore readers. What I'm really interested in is what the possible implications of this could be.
Qyburn discovers a gold coin, minted in Highgarden in the days before the conquest, hidden in Rugen's cells. Why would Varys have Tyrell gold? My best explanation is that Varys probably planted it there to sow suspicion between the Lannisters and the Tyrells, which is exactly what happens. Seems pretty straightforward. Though there's always the slim chance that the Varys is somehow involved in the Tyrell Conspiracy, but I doubt it.
Jaqen H'ghar. The chief undergaoler (and GRRM, by extension) makes a point of bringing up the three men that were being kept in the Black Cells before Lord Stark was arrested as a traitor, and that they were given to Yoren for the Wall under Rugen's watch. We still have no indication of how Jaqen got into that cell in the first place. Got me to wondering whether Varys and Illyrio are responsible for Jaqen's mission in Westeros, to somehow aid in their plot of putting a Targaryen back on the throne. The two of them would certainly have the
