A list of puns related to "Galician"
Hi! I'm trying to find the actual birth and marriage records for my great-grandparents and hoping someone can help.
They were Jewish and born in Galicia/Austria. I can find records for siblings for my great-grandfather and even his mother but next to nothing on either of them until their passenger manifest to the US in 1914.
I don't read any Polish but I've tried the Polish archives and can't figure it out. I've combed through Ancestry, My Heritage, Family Tree, JewishGen, JRIPoland, GesherGalicia and a few other sites with no success.
Can anyone else find anything to help me break through this wall? Thank you!!
Here's all the info I have so far:
Great-grandfather:
Given Name: Samuel/Salomon/Schlomo
Surname: Munzer/Minzer/Mintzer/Menzer/Menczer
Born: 1889
City: Krasiejow, Austria (this is what he lists on his WW1 draft card as his birthplace)
Father: Mechel
Mother: Chaje Bogner (her siblings: Dora, Scheindel/Jennie, Rose, Morris, Jitta, Pesia)
Siblings: Jutta (born: 1891 Podhajczyki), Moses (born/died: 1894 Gologory)
Great-grandmother:
Given Name: Amelia/Amalia
Maiden Name: Citron
Born: 8 May 1892/1893/1894
City: Jarczowce, Austria (I think this is now in Ukraine)
Father: Jakob
Mother: Helena Weitz
Siblings: Unknown
Son:
Given Name: Adolf/Adolph/Abe
Born: 25 December 1913
City: Krasiejow or Vienna (Their passenger manifests say he was born in Krasiejow but he said he was told he was born in Vienna and that's what he listed on his naturalization paperwork in the 1950s).
Immigration:
Hamberg to Quebec: 1 July - 15 August 1914
Detroit crossing: February-March 1915
My great-grandfather came to NYC in 1910 and returned so presumably he got married after that but before their son was born, which would put the married between 1911-1913.
I need to find the actual records to add to my citizenship declaration, which I can't complete without these documents, so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I'm a WHIZ at Ancestry/Family Tree, etc. so if I can return the favor somehow, please let me know!
Thank you again!!!!
Hi! I'm looking for good sources for the Celtic religion/s of Asturias and Galicia (Spain.) Anything helps. Thanks!
Howdy, folks!
My name is Noelia and I'm 25. I'm from a small town in northern Spain and I studied Translation and Interpreting. I'm a native speaker of Spanish and Galician and I'm also fluent in French. I'm really patient and I enjoy teaching, as it is my job. I like hanging out with my amigos, binge-watching FΒ·RΒ·IΒ·EΒ·NΒ·DΒ·S, listening to music, travelling and cooking!
I'm super chatty and I try to keep things cheerful. I also consider myself as a respectful person, very stubborn and passionate.
I'm looking for someone whose native language is English and who's kind, open-minded and fun. I'm currently studying C2 CEFR level of English and trying to pass state examinations ("oposiciones") to become an English teacher, so I could use some friends to talk to and practice a little bit. I also want to know more things about English-speaking countries and, of course, if you want me to, visit! I promise I'll do it.
Thank you so much,
Noelia
Time for promoting my own homeland culture!
The Galician are an aesthete culture from the Medieval era.
Galicians Legacy Trait is named "Land of a Thousand Rivers", and grants 2 food and industry on every River Tile, as well as 5 influence and money on every Harbour.
Their Emblematic Quarter is the Grand Cathedral, which can only be built once per Empire. It counts as a Holy Site, and grants +40 faith, +40 stability and +2 science, money, influence and faith per Trade Route on that territory. It also exploits all FIMS, so it works just like a cultural wonder.
Their Emblematic Unit are the Irmandinhos, who replace Peasants, so that they appear during sieges and by using the Militaristic Affinity (if you follow up the Galicians by a Militaristic culture). They can also be built on cities after researching Feudalism. They have 34 Combat Strength and the Home Guard ability.
Big thanks to Uncle2fire, without whose aid and inspiration I wouldn't be able to publish this!
You can find it by simply searching Galician on mod.io!
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 50%. (I'm a bot)
> Residents of a town in north-west Spain have banded together to try to track down a convicted murderer - nicknamed the "Galician Rambo" for his multiple jailbreaks and extensive knowledge of survival techniques - who is believed to be living in a nearby wooded area.
> Alfredo Sánchez Chacón has been on the run since March when he failed to return to prison after being allowed out on a day pass.
> News that the 63-year-old was missing probably surprised few: Sánchez Chacón, who is due to be in prison until 2025 for a murder in 1996, was already notorious across Spain for slipping out of prison twice.
> His first escape was in 1999 when he reportedly strung together a series of sheets to shimmy down the walls of the Pontevedra prison as other inmates distracted the guards.
> In 2001 he managed to again break out of prison but his taste of freedom lasted just 25 minutes before he was caught, according to the newspaper La Voz de Galicia.
> "It's outrageous that we're caught in this," one resident told La Voz de Galicia, while another hinted that this might not be the residents' first brush with the Galician Rambo.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi, everyone! I'm making a map of how to ask "what time is it?" in European languages with literal translations and I was wondering if you could help me with Galician here because I want it to be on the map too.
Cheers :)
I've tried finding it online and it seems to not be indexed anywhere and the church was beyond unhelpful in even telling me if the book of birth records even still existed.
His name was Sebastian Sarna. Born 5 January 1882 in Bzianka, Rzeszow, Galicia, Austria (now Poland).
Please help. Many thanks!
