A list of puns related to "Funchal"
Madeira is one of his favourite places and he's been visiting for years. On our last trip (his 16th, my 2nd) we were in a house on the hill under the cablecar and he struggled with the hill. As a previously very active man it was a challenge.
This time we've booked an apartment just behind the Mercado dos Lavradores so we'll be far more central.
We'd love to do a wildlife watching boat trip and also maybe see some of the gardens - Dad is a keen gardener but somehow has never done any of them, he did lots of levada walks instead. How accessible are the gardens in Funchal? He can walk but has to be careful not to risk falling and may be using a walker.
We have a lovely big balcony and on our last visit used the Swimming near the yellow Fort and intend to do so again. The big thing 8s to enjoy the beautiful scenery and weather. And he has me in tow, getting excited about the glorious produce to cook with as well as eating out! So any suggestions and recommendations would be gratefully received.
Hi there! We are a family of 3 in our 30s and are looking to spend a few months or maybe even settle down long term in Funchal. Can anyone recommend some nice neighborhoods that are local and fun in the day but quiet and family friendly at night? We like the Nature and the ocean but the location should be relatively accessible too. We're not into the touristy stuff in the center or the retirement homes in lido.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
We've been staying in an Airbnb apartment in Funchal for 3 weeks already and this morning we discovered that my girlfriend's AirPods are stolen.
She definitely didn't lose them because the earphones never left the apartment, I gave them to her as a NY gift on Jan 1 and then we were hiking on the 2nd and 3rd. On the morning of Jan 2nd, before leaving for a day trip, she put the AirPods in her shirt's pocket because we knew there's going to be apartment cleaning and we don't like our stuff lying around. We strongly suspect the cleaners because nothing else was taken.
We used the Apple's Locator app and discovered that yesterday someone turned on the AirPods in Camacha, Rua dos Novelos.
First I called the company that manages our apartment. After a bit of back and forth, they promised to call back before 6pm because they were unable to contact the cleaners at that time. And, you guessed it, they didn't call back.
We also went to the Police, but got nowhere. Police barely speaks English (I don't blame them, I understand they don't have to know English), but even after we managed to describe our situation it seemed that they really wanted us to not bother them. They said to wait, but didn't tell what we need to wait for, so after an hour of waiting we just left.
Is there anything we can do in this situation? We don't feel safe in the apartment, but what's even worse is that it turns out we rented our next apartment in Funchal from the same managing company.
Hey! I'm currently visiting and enjoying Madeira a lot. I'd like to buy some Madeira wine to bring home, especially from the producer Barbeito as I really like their products. Where is the best place to go In Funchal to buy bottles?
