Does this mean that (according to him) inflation can only occur due to changes in the money supply? And changes in the money supply can occur only due to changes in monetary policy and net export revenue/expenditure right? Any insight will be much appreciated :)
I can't, for the life of me, remember whether the formula is nominal = real + inflation or real = nominal + inflation. Does anyone have any mnemonics for this rage-inducing formula?

I am taking my first macroeconomics course and we've been talking about the Fisher equation for a while now. Although it makes sense, I am not sure I understand how I use it myself.
This wikipedia page says (1+r(t+1)) = (1+i(t))/(1+pi(t+1)). What is confusing me is the r(t+1). Say I have the nominal interest rate at the end of the year and I want to transform this to the real interest rate. I also know the inflation rate between Dec 31 of next year and this year (i.e pi(t+1)).
Is the real interest rate for this period simply 1+ the nominal interest rate as of Dec 31 this year divided by the inflation rate? If so, why is it denoted r(t+1) and not r(t)?
i’ve seen a bunch of different figures for how much the money supply rose in 2020, but surely if there was a 35% increase in the money supply there’d be an increase of 35% inflation? is that not what the fisher equation shows?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Neo-Fisherists are looking to validate their beliefs as Turkish president and central bank are the first to apply this economic model, which many call “Neo-fisherism”, in real world.
Erdogan’s goal is simple though not simple to accept and understand: “We are going to achieve low inflation with low interest rates.”
It implies that low interest rates cause inflation to go down.
That’s exactly what Neo-Fisherists say. (note that the opposite is true as well: high interest rates = high inflation)
Hmm.
The roots of this idea come from the Fisher equation that many are familiar with, which states that the nominal interest rate is equal to the sum of the real interest rate and inflation.
r (nonimnal) = R (real) + inflation *
One of the most basic beliefs of economists is that if the central bank lowers nominal interest rate, inflation will increase and the real interest rate will decrease. But what if real rate of return is pretty much fixed in the long run meaning that no matter what the inflation rate is and what the central banks around world do, the real rate of return on safe short-term investments averages about 1-2% over the long run. The neutrality of money in the long run is widely known assumption in the economy world.
That’s where Neo-Fisherism comes in play. The central bank may influence the real interest rate in the short run, but over time it will revert back to its equilibrium level. Then, in order for the equation to hold, inflation has to go down if nominal interest rates are kept at a low level. For example, let’s say that the fed funds rate (key rate of American FED) is 0.25%. if real rate of return on safe investments is 1%, the only way to get 0.25% nominal rate is to add a negative number, in this case inflation, -0.75%. Arithmetics.
I find this theory interesting though experimenting with it as we can see may be “too risky”. On the other hand, Japan has struggled to lift inflation rates despite 20+years of money stimulus. We may add European countries like Sweden and Switzerland that had negative interest rates for many years despite QE policies.
So, is it possible that the whole world has been following a “not so good” formula and Neo-Fisherists (including Turkish government) have their say or they are just purely lost?
Also, what is your take on USD/TRY in the short term? Looks like macro factors are not looking good for TRY.

Today is the discussion for Night in the Lonesome October Chapters 20-37.
Book Summary - Night in the Lonesome October (2002) - When Ed receives word from his college girlfriend that she's in love with someone else, Ed's world changes in a second. Heartbroken and half-mad, Ed goes for a nighttime walk, but on this lonesome October night, he is not alone. There are others roaming the streets, waiting to show Ed just how different his world can be. 413pgs. (summary from Goodreads).
Pages Summary: Ed remembers the knife in his trouser pocket and reaches for it. As he does the attacker shoves him. Ed attacks him, allowing time for Eileen and him to escape.
Ed knocks the attacker down and lights a match. He looks down at the attacker, a man who is naked and filthy. He hears Eileen and the two regroup. They leave.
As they walk back towards home, they encounter Rudy, a guy at the university, and a guy that Ed can’t stand.
He inquires about the current state of their appearances and ask what happened. Ed and Eileen say that they got attacked by a gang and would prefer it if he kept it to himself due to their embarrassment over the whole thing. He agrees.
Eileen grabs some more clothing for Ed from a store and the pair keep walking.
As they get closer to Ed’s apartment, Eileen suddenly stops and says that somebody’s back there.
They both turn around and see nobody there. Eileen decides the person is a man but can’t give any further details. They decide to hide behind a parked car, waiting to see the person instead of leading them to Ed’s apartment.
They wait and wait, but nobody appears. They discuss what happened under the bridge and when the attacker may have appeared.
They eventually begin walking again, before encountering the woman on the bike, glaring at them.
The pair finally make it back to Ed’s apartment. The Fisher’s mistake Eileen for Holly as they walk past. Eileen and Ed don’t correct them.
Once in the apartment, Eileen takes a shower and Ed falls asleep. He wakes up to Eileen calling him from the bathroom.
They end up in the shower together.
After getting out of the shower and relaxing for a while, Ed asks if anything happened to Eileen when they were in the dark, near under the bridge. If anyone raped her. She says no and begins getting defensive. Ed tries to inquire futher but Eileen verbally attacks him.
