I recently decided to try to get into The Rolling Stones and I absolutely fell in love with Exile on Main street, particularly Let it loose, Loving cup and Sweet Virginia. Personally, Let it loose has to be one of the greatest songs I've heard. Imo the production on this album is amazing and I haven't been able to find many other songs that replicate the emotions I feel when listening to this album nor do I know where to look.
Are there any songs/albums similar to the content on Exile that I might like?
I mean, I've thought about it recently and can't remember this album being mentioned between the best of all time in conversations or lists or anything. I don't know enough to talk about it's influence or lasting effects in the music industry, I'm just talking about the sheer quality and enjoyment one can get from the songs and the album experience as a hole. I might be biased, but I enjoy that album too much and don't think it gets enough love.
I still love the album, theres not much by the stones that i DONT like, so i still see that its a wonderful album, but i have like 6 or 7 albums id put above it. Does it have to do with the time it came out? I wasnt alive in 1972 so im not sure how fans reacted to its release.
What is the consensus? I realize that one is a double lp, but I am soliciting opinions as to which is their true masterpiece.
There's a scene in "Blue Comet" when Janice comes to Tony's house to tell him that Junior is finally broke (and is afraid of his accountant with the "alien voice") and she asks him for money or else he'll have to go to a state facility (where he eventually ends up in "Made in America"). Janice says that Bobby is willing to contribute to Junior's medical/living expenses, and then Tony mockingly offers her a $5 bill or something. However, right after this, Tony says this about Bacala: "It's Exile on Main Street, Janice! All these years, ya bring a guy along, and for what???" implying Tony feels betrayed that Bacala is not also shunning Junior after Junior shot Tony. I'm not that familiar with the Rolling Stones to see any other meaning of "Exile on Main Street" except for the "exile" part of it, but it sounds pretty obvious Tony is pissed. It almost sounds like he's going to shun Bacala now.
Then of course a few scenes later Bacala is killed.
So I wonder if Bacala hadn't have been killed, would Tony have been pissed at him? Would Bacala have lost his newly acquired spot as Tony's number 2?
I guess in the long run it didn't make any difference. Tony does speak positively of Bacala ("He was a good guy") when he informs AJ about his death.
Searching for the half speed master of exile on Main Street! Newbury comics by me has it but like everything at that store itβs outrageously overpriced! If you have one you wanna get rid of PM me!

especially those acoustic kind of country songs. Such a great vibe
Hello all
Does anyone know a bookseller still selling the English ebook edition of Robert Greenfield's "Exile on Main Street"? The only place I can find is Amazon.ca but I'm not allowed to purchase from there due to my location. Thanks in advance for any help.
