A list of puns related to "English Knitting"
1)I’ve been knitting for almost two years 2)I mainly knit English, but have been trying desperately to learn continental so I can knit faster 3) I work full time in food service
My main curiosity is finding the missing ingredient to how the heck y’all folks churn out so many awesome projects! I can’t seem to finish much of anything. I literally have nine different projects that I’ve slowly been rotating through, but am seemingly unable to finish in any reasonable amount of time. I guess I’m just wondering what it takes to get things done, like a huge giant blanket snuggie thing, or 10+ sweaters for example, in a year. I’m desperately wanting to level up and finish more projects more quickly, I just don’t know what I’m missing. More free time? Less ADHD? 🤷♂️ Tell me your secrets!!!!
The pain only flares up on days with a lot of use, and isn't horrible, but still not fun. I'm in my 30s without arthritis or other significant joint/muscular issues. I'm left handed for skills that need precision like eating and writing, but for most things that need strength I use my right hand, so I'm a little surprised this is even an issue. Anything else I could be doing to help myself out, other than to keep plugging away at learning continental? (I kind of hate it, but maybe it'll just take time)
Hello all! I have been desperately trying to learn how to continental knit for a long while but cant seem to get the hang of it. I feel like it can be so much faster than English knitting, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks that could help? I've watched and tried to knit a long with videos and I just can't seem to figure it out!
I am an English throw knitter I have been told it's bad to knit that way but I attempted to lever knit, just seems like everyone hates on it.

Found a free pattern(instructions) for knitting a pair of baby shoes that is in Russian and google translate does not seem to be savvy with eastern European knitting lingo. The pattern is available for free at this link and any help translating would be greatly appreciated!
I recently learned there are different types of knitting style and that these two types are very prominent.
I learned to knit by going to a knitting store in Toronto and they taught us English style.
I think back to my grandma in Eastern Europe and realized that she would use continental style. She was a really fast knitter. She could churn out socks within hours. Scarf in a day. Sweater in a week.
What are the benefit of English style? Because more I learn about the two style I really fail to see the reason why we are even taught the English style other than the fact that most people are right handed and this style favours dexterity.
Alright guys, my brain is weird. I have simultaneously learned how to knit in the continental and English styles, and I don’t know which I like more. From what I can see, continental is quicker, but I drop a lot more stitches. I feel like English is more controlled.
I’m a total beginner and I need some tips from you lovely experienced people! Are there any benefits to one or the other? Any perks? Any technique pros and cons down the road that a beginner might not see?
Thank you!! :)
Trying to make my son a cool sweater, but could use some help.

i am trying to make this poncho in a size 4T. The pattern is in Dutch and i am trying to translate it into English / American knitting terminology with no luck. The English translation is below but the link I provided will take you to the Dutch web page.
I have translated the page into English but it still is not enough for me to move forward.
Back and front
Move 15 st. on with the knitting needles 6mm and color Sable, knit jersey stitch and more each 2nd needle on either side:1 x 5 st., 3 x 3 st., 5 x 2 st. and 16 x 1 st.You have 95 st.
Meanwhile, leave at 26 cm (54 nld.) total height the middle 21 st. continue to knit each part separately and leave each 2nd needle. (in the middle) waiting:1 x 4 st., 1 x 3 st., 3 x 2 st. and 4 x 1 st.
Once you've pushed all the stitches aside, hand off each 2nd needle on the outside:9 x 2 st. and 2 x 1 st.
Finish the other neck side in the same way. You have 55 waiting st. Knit a second same piece as front. Put the two parts on one needle as follows (when you knit around, you don't need to add a stitch at each end): starting in the middle of the back: put 1 st. on (for the seam), take the waiting 28 st. on the left, take the 55 st. from the front, knit the last stitch of the back together with the 1st stitch. of the front, then take the last 27 waiting st. knit the last stitch of the front along with the 1st st. half the spine, and make 1 multiple at the end of the needle. (for the seam). You have 110 st. Knit the insert based on the counting pattern and make 2 additional rings in the 2nd needle. You have 10 motifs of 11 stitches, and 1 lace. at each end. When the 28 needles. of the counting pattern, remains 52 st. which you can tell off.
FinishMake the embroidery with mesh marks (see counting pattern). Take with the knitting needles 5.5mm and color Sable, at the bottom of each piece 129 st. on, knit 2 cm ribbed stitch and then lace all the stitches off. Close the seams and seam in the middle of the back, and then take 50 st. on in the neck with the knitting needles 5.5mm and color Sable; knit 2 cm rib stitch and lace off. Make 10 tassels of 6 two-folded threads of color Sable of 17 cm, and attach them between each motif at the level of the 1st needle of color Cognac (see photo). Cut them immediately at 8 cm.
