A list of puns related to "Elance"
So I started on Upwork very recently (within the last two months) and someone mentioned they got banned for having an Elance account... so onto my old email I go, search for Upwork and nothing comes up... but if I search for Elance I have things from 2012, last emailed me in 2013 first in 2010 so I definitely had an account... honestly I think I probably gave up on it in 2010 as it was when I was at university and I remember looking for side gigs and it not being fruitful
Do I worry? Do I try to shut it down? Talk to support or leave it alone? Considering it was an entire decade ago Iโm not sure what to do about it
Edit: Spoke to support, they were nice and shut it for me after a few trials trying to get the personal data from a decade ago correct so they could verify it was me....
What's everyone using for freelancing sites besides freelancer and elance? Theses sites have unfavorable reviews for a handful of reasons.
Is there money to be made on these sites, or is it just a waste of time?

If I knew during sign up on Elance that they can kick me out at any time with NO reason I would not register in a first place in their platform. Nobody would.
I'm a Full Stack Ruby on Rails developer. And I'm shocked. Elance closed my account, deleted my public portfolio page and all 'evidences' of me from their site. I was working on Elance for 1 year, built a perfect reputation: 5 star rating, have awesome feedbacks and invest a lot of efforts to move from regular office job to freelancer's carrier and now I have to either go back to office job or start from scratch as a freelancer with zero reputation, work history and feedback. It's soooo not fair. I am disappointed in Elance from a bottom of my heart.
Do you know what was their explanation why they kick me out? > you did not meet the performance standards expected on Elance and >Elance requires maintaining a high level of professionalism and trust, and this step was taken to protect the safety and work standards of all Elancers.
What's wrong with you, guys? I was a perfect freelancer - I was polite, professional, friendly, etc, etc, etc. History of conversation with their support is below:
First I received a standard email from them with the following text: >Hello, > >As part of an ongoing effort to monitor workplace quality, we periodically scan freelancer accounts to identify those with higher than average numbers of disputes, negative feedback, client concerns, or evidence of moving work off Elance. While we donโt expect perfection, we do look for an overall track record of positive performance and take into consideration your entire work history.
I knew that my behavior was perfect and it was just a mistake so I contacted their Support.
Me: >Hello, my login name on Elance is [omitted]
>Today I have received an email from Elance with information that my account was found to have a high number of negative client experiences when compared to other freelancers, leading to a satisfaction level significantly below the average. As a result, your account has been closed.
>I'm shocked. It's a huge mistake. My average rating is 5.0. All clients are very satisfied with my work. Please re-open my account.

... keep reading on reddit โกI saw this job posted to Elance today
He wants to pay someone "about $20" to get this movie trailer to the front page of one of the most influential websites online.
I posted this because I wanted to start a discussion about marketing on reddit. I see reddit marketing jobs posted to Elance on a regular basis and most of them are basically "Post our stuff to reddit and get us clicks".
I think there is a much more valuable and sustainable way to engage the reddit community. It starts with becoming a redditor and then genuinely participating in the subreddits that are related to your business in an honest way (e.g. have your username represent your business and be open about who you are).
Is there a profitable and ethical way for companies to engage reddit communities? Or are they better off trying to game the system?
Hi
I am an WordPress developer and kinda expert you can say as I have 4 years of experience.
I work for agency and willing to leave my current job and start freelencing .

Is there any other website who lets you post ads like reddit forhire ????
Please help me If you can .
Thanks
As you know, the Elance workplace is going to shutdown soon. Granted that Upwork is the alternative where most Elancers will be heading to. But is there an Elance feature that you are certainly going to miss?
The plan was to start with a small contract job and see how I did with that.
I was hammering out details over the phone with him. Everything was going fine until we got to the price.
I told him I charge 60/hour, and since it was a 3-hour job it would cost him $180.
He was taken aback, telling me he had expected something in line with elance: $5-$25/hour.
I told him I could cut my rate to $45/hour, but that's the lowest I could go. I discussed problems people have had on elance due to the communication barrier and cultural differences and emphasized that I was local.
He wasn't willing or able to match my price, so now it's back to looking for work.
I'm currently unemployed.
I could have offered to take it on at $25/hr, but I decided not to.
I'm still not sure I made the right choice. =/
EDIT: Thank you everybody, I feel much better about my decision. :)
EDIT, 3 years later: I NEVER GOT ANY WEB DEVELOPMENT JOBS. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE DECISION.
