A list of puns related to "Cúchulainn"
Description by Thomas Kinsella. Cúchulainn enters his riastrad or warp spasm, which some think is a manifestation of the rage (and mangling) he felt in the womb when his mother tried and failed to abort him after being unwillingly impregnated by Lugh.
>The first warp-spasm seized Cúchulainn, and made him into a monstrous thing, hideous and shapeless, unheard of. His shanks and his joints, every knuckle and angle and organ from head to foot, shook like a tree in the flood or a reed in the stream. His body made a furious twist inside his skin, so that his feet and shins and knees switched to the rear and his heels and calves switched to the front. The balled sinews of his calves switched to the front of his shins, each big knot the size of a warrior's bunched fist. On his head the temple-sinews stretched to the nape of his neck, each mighty, immense, measureless knob as big as the head of a month-old child. His face and features became a red bowl; he sucked one eye so deep into his head that a wild crane could not probe it onto his cheek out of the depths of his skull; the other eye fell out along his cheek. His mouth weirdly distorted: his cheek peeled back from his jaws until the gullet appeared; his lungs and liver flapped in his mouth and throat; his lower jaw struck the upper a lion-killing blow, and fiery flakes large as a ram's fleece reached his mouth from his throat. His heart boomed loud in his breast like the baying of a watch-dog at its feed or the sound of a lion among bears. Malignant mists and spurts of fire flickered red in the vaporous clouds that rose boiling above his head, so fierce was his fury.
Aside from being the world's most questionable piercing, I think I remember reading something years ago (possibly lore-related?) about his head getting bow'd. Haven't had the best of luck with google funnily enough, which is kinda weird considering the devs probably wanted the players to notice such a curious detail in his cutscenes - the part of the bow going through his skull is rather visible when he opens his mouth
Was dreading this fight given he’s not an easy fight on a normal playthrough and he took me a few tries on NG-. How did solo shikari/archer Basch do (yes I know it’s an odd job combo, am just playing around with what seems fun at the time). Took a few tries but got there in the end. Standard dispel mote to kick off and Adrammelech joined in to help clear out the foobars. Lots of accessory swapping to prevent status ailments in between switching from pheasant netsuke and berserk braces to maximise healing/damage. Zalera joined in as well to spam cura and once Cúchulainn was on low health a balance mote from a close to death Zalera finished him off. Hurrah! The big question is do I head of to Mt Bur Omisace and continue the plot or go check out the Nabreus Deadlands and onto the Necrohol?

In all versions of this fight, Dr. Mog will instantly cast a version of Wall at the start of the fight that lasts for 999.999 seconds. The only available RW is a chain SB that applies to all damaging hits dealt by FFT party members, with a 30% field bonus and a cap of 150 hits.
You will receive prizes (each can only be obtained once) based on how much damage you dealt and on clear time. The lowest-tier prize is for dealing 50% damage, and the highest-tier prize is for clearing within 30 seconds. You will receive the prizes for all tiers that you qualified for, so a sub-30 clear will earn every prize.

Apart from the hair colour they look really similar, and having them both using spear/lance can't be really coincidence. They even seem to act similarly.
Zodiark had just finished his pale ale when he saw a familiar figure entering The Sandsea.
“Cúchulainn, over here!”
The Impure's eyes followed the sound of the voice greeting him. Along the middle of the bar, the Keeper of Precepts sat alone. None were within two meters of him despite the rest of The Sandsea being crowded. “Odd,” he thought, “I expect my own stench and appearance cause the crowds to cower or scatter, but I suppose Zodiark too is an Esper.” Yet, as Cúchulainn walked toward Zodiark, the humes and other lesser beings seemed to largely ignore his presence.
“Fancy seeing you here, old friend. Care to imbibe with me?” Cúchulainn took a seat next to Zodiark. “Tomaj, two shots of my usual whiskey, please!”
Cúchulainn looked around nervously. He had only entered this tavern because of the noise it was making above his quiet home in the sewers. He did not expect it to be full of adventurers. Why weren't they trying to exterminate him? Surely the Occuria could make it so.
“Ah, Cúchulainn, you don't get out much, do you?” Zodiark had a smug grin and was surely had something to brag about. “You want to know why they're leaving us alone? Check out my post on the notice board. It's totally trending!” All Cúchulainn could see on the nearby board was a poorly drawn sketch of a snake hovering over five stick figures.
“I can't believe they actually thought they could take me down. Me! The Keeper of Precepts! If the Occuria couldn't handle us, how could they? Who are they, you might ask? Only the leaders of Archadia and Dalmasca both, along with their greatest protector!” The sign of Ophiuchus straightened his... back? “Plus there was some young soldier in training and a dancing street urchin girl with them for some reason. They thought they could shock away this darkness! Laughable, really.”
Cúchulainn stared back in silence and awe. Had Queen Ashe and Emperor Larsa not felled the Espers Belial and Mateus? Maybe others as well. One doesn't get much news down in the waterway.
“You know how I did it? Performance enhancing supplements! Here, as a fellow Esper, the first month of Incubus Plus is free, and after that it just costs 3 million gil per month!”
Oh no, is this a pyramid scheme?
“Look, these pitiful human lords took down Hashmal and Famfrit. Do you want to be like them? I didn't think so! Ultima's already bought in, and you know she's going to be awesome. Hound of Culain, seize this opportunity to be the master! It just takes a few hundred yea

This pike is made from a single huge bone, and its end is covered in sharp barbs. You gain a +2 to attack and damage rolls with this weapon. Roll one additional damage die on critical hits with this weapon.
When you take the Attack action, you may use a Bonus action to speak the spear's command word. A target within Gáe Bulg's reach makes a DC18 Constitution saving throw. If they fail, your attacks against them this turn are critical hits, and if they have 75 or fewer hit points remaining after your attack(s), they die instantly as Gáe Bulg's barbs extend and flow through their body, shredding it to a pulp from the inside. You must complete a long rest before you may use this ability again.
The constant sap and halved magicks are completely screwing me over, not to mention the psycho flan thingies. I’m level 30, how do I beat and recruit this guy?
Edit: Finally beat the Esper. Thanks for the advice.
I've been studying Gaelic culture and literature for a few years now. One thing I've learned is that most of us here in Ireland know next to nothing about it, and have read little of the literature. But one topic that always gets people 'interested' is Cúchulainn's sexuality. And by interested I mean comments like 'for fuck's sake Cúchulainn wasn't gay' and 'leave that shite to the Greeks'.
The most popular translation of the Táin (Thomas Kinsella's) was done in the 60s. This is the one most people buy, and that leaves people about 50/50 split about whether Cúchulainn and Ferdia were lovers or not. I do some translations, so a year ago or so I decided to translate some of these relevant passages and make some notes, considering the 60s were not an unbiased time, especially in Ireland. It's unfinished and I'm too lazy to do the other passages now, but an argument I had today on here reminded me of it:
Cúchulainn:
Ropdhar cocle cridi,
ropdhar caemthe caille,
ropdhar fir chomdeirgide,
Direct translation:
We were a secret/intention of the heart,
We were forest companions/dears/affectionates,
We were 'co-bedding' men,
If this was meant to be platonic bed-sharing, it would be the only instance of it I've seen in Irish mythology. 'Sharing a bed', 'sleeping together', or 'spending the night with someone' have always been terms for sexual partners in the contexts I've seen. 'Caemthe' is a tricky word; I can't find any other usage of it as a noun in the eDIL database. Caem normally means dear, precious, valued/noble or beloved in the context of a person, and caemthe could well mean lovers. However caem as an adjective can be used in romantic and platonic contexts. Caemthach is a noun that means companionship, again in a platonic or romantic sense, and cohabitation, usually in a romantic sense. 'Cocle' is also not used anywhere else I can find, but it's generally assumed to be the word 'coicle', meaning secrets/thoughts/intentions. In this passage it's often translated as comrade or companion, but I have no idea why.
Cúchulainn (after killing Ferdia):
Inmain lemm do ruidiud rán,
inmain do chruth caem comlán,
inmain do rosc glass glanba (no gregda),
inmain t'álaig (no t'álle) is t'irlabra.
Direct translation:
Beloved to me your splendid blushing,
Beloved your perfect/whole, dear/noble shape,
Beloved your eye clear blue (or [grey?]),
Beloved your manner (or your [beauty?]) and your eloquence.
The second line could mean 'Beloved your

With their similarities about being chosen by the Gods for a job to purify and heal the land with its people. They both swallowed a vast amount of impurity and corruption within themselves to this end, becoming tainted and grotesque, but gaining new powers though it. Afterwards turning against the gods who cast them aside.
Were the Occuria just that much more powerful to seal away the Espers? The Six and the Founder King cast Ardyn into ignominy but he was still able to wander the world as an accursed immortal for thousands of years able to do what he pleased. Even if they couldn't put an end to him, they also completely lacked the means to seal him away to any effect (even if temporarily like Exdeath).
the 6% chance of Death is like a: 6% x 8 pjs? or 6% / 8 pjs?
With Smite finally delving into Celtic mythology, now is the perfect time for some fresh Gods with unique mechanics and playstyles to breathe a bit of life back into this beloved game. We now have a Celtic mage and hunter, so without further ado, I present my idea for the Celtic Demigod Warrior Cúchulainn (pronounced koo-hull-in, place emphasis on the 'h' in hull as though you are pronouncing the 'ch' in 'loch')
Cúchulainn was a fearsome warrior, taught by the renowned warrior-woman Scáthach to wield Gáe Bulg, the Spear of Mortal Pain, a two handed spear that he usually wielded atop a chariot. For the purposes of Smite, Cúchulainn wields this spear on foot, granting him an increased attack range on basic attacks.
Passive: Ríastrad Landing a damaging ability on an enemy god grants Cúchulainn one stack of Ríastrad lowering all maximum ability cooldowns by 1 up to a maximum of 5. Using a damaging ability that does not strike an enemy champion will deplete one stack. Leaving combat drops all stacks. This means that if you hit an enemy god with an ability with 1 stack, that ability will go on cooldown with 1 second removed and you will progress to 2 stacks. In combat Cúchulainn was infamous for his terrifying battle frenzy, or ríastrad, becoming an unrecognizable monster while fighting.
One: Skyward Strike/Earthward Slam This ability targets a small cone in front of Cúchulainn. If all enemy gods in that cone are grounded, Cúchulainn will use Skyward Strike, sweeping enemy gods into the air, dealing minor-moderate damage. 13 second CD If one or more gods in the cone are airbourne already, Cúchulainn will instead use Earthward Slam, slamming all airbourne gods into the ground, dealing the same damage and applying a short slow. 13 second CD These abilities have independent cooldowns.
Two: Clear the Skies/Cleanse the Earth By default Cúchulainn has access to Clear the Skies, this ability can only affect airborne targets. Cúchulainn thrusts three times skyward in an arc, dealing moderate-high damage and suspending all airborne targets for all three strikes, pulling them into the center of the arc. This ability also interrupts any leaps or jumps that take enemy gods through this airspace. 15 second CD If Defensive Dash was cast in the last 2 seconds, Clear the Skies is replaced by Cleanse the Earth. Cleanse the Earth causes Cúchulainn to strike forward with his spear 3 times very quickly in a line, dealing mode

This one on the other hand, was simply a battle of attrition. When he's weak he loves to spam his Bioras/Biogas. I am glad to have gotten Ramza's armor here (and also Tyro's BSB for that invaluable magic blink), I could have probably replaced Relm for a damage dealer instead. Pecil with his BSB will tear this boss apart. Agrias's Split Punch was useful too when stacked with Full Break.
I had to S/L couple of times here. The fight has some RNG elements. On one run Cúchulainn spammed Nightmare and my whole party fell asleep :/
