A list of puns related to "Countrified"
I know this might be hard to pinpoint, but what characteristics does a name that's described as μ΄μ€λ½λ€ have? I have heard friends call girl names like μμ as such, was watching an ep of Sky Castle where λ―Έν₯ was also described this way. Is it sort of similar to hippie names from the 60s in English (naming your kid Sunshine, Dandelion, etc)?
Ps Any Aussie Dead βeads here?
We were listening to 90s/early 2000s music in the car with someone who liked country. Lonestar's country cover of "Amazed" came on and I mentioned how it was a cover of a ballad from the early nineties. They said "I thought Lonestar wrote that song." After googling it, I learned that Lonestar DID indeed write it, that it was always a country song, and that it was released in 1999 (no earlier). There was a pop (non-country) version that played on air around the same time, but it was also sung by Lonestar.
I could have sworn that the "original" was by Bryan Adams or Rod Steward, pre-1995.
I have memories of the country version coming on while I was at dance parties in the mid 2000s and thinking to myself "I like the original better."
Edit: Lonestar didn't "write it." What I meant by that is that they performed it first. The writers were Marv Green,Β Aimee Mayo, andΒ Chris Lindsey.
Y'all seen this?

I'm learning Walking down the Road feeling bad in the style of the dead. I also came across Etta Baker for the first time. I've heard of her before but haven't listened much, she's great. She was still tearing it up in her 90's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPwYJqwUi5w
Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
Yo, so some people messaged and commented on my post across a few platforms with the dog listening to Someone by The Hated.
The Hated were a band from Maryland, on the East Coast of the USA, close and connected to the DC Hardcore scene (which spawned Rites of Spring, Embrace, Fugazi etc).
A related friend band/collaborator band was Moss Icon, a band who also pioneered the Emo sound which evolved in the 90s, but in their own way, there is an excellent discography on Spotify where you can hear them experimenting from hardcore punk with more sung spoke vocals and sparse emotive repeating sections.
The Hated had a different sound though. They should be seen as two sides of the same coin..
The Hated were a turbo speed, but turbo melodic (probably influenced initially by Husker Du and The Replacements early stuff) hardcore punk band, which evolved alongside what Moss Icon and the Revolution Summer bands in DC were doing into their own thing.
Their first full length What Was Behind is a kinda lofi mish mash of super fast super emotional hardcore with some amazing guitar sounds and massive chord changes.
Their last and final album Every Song is one that appears often on emo OGs top 5s. It's a more broken down, jangly, often very quiet and suddenly loud (something the 90s bands took and ran with). It has a melodic sensibility which is very Americana and draws from the more countrified end alternative rock (REM being the kings of that in the 90s) but retains all of the hardcore punk rawness.
Their discography is a confusing and expensive mess - https://www.discogs.com/artist/628624-The-Hated
The "box set discography" has been slated since around the year 2000, people who were born after this are now adults, this is why "the hated box set" is a long running in joke in the emo scene.
The vocalist Dan Littleton went on to have success in the pioneering lofi/bedroom/slowcore indie band Ida.
There's loaaaaaaads of related folk lore around the Hated, but I'll let you dig in ;)
