We've followed the procedure described on the HPE manual for activating the FCoE on the adapter: 1) Change the adapter personality on the UEFI System Setting 2) Install the HPE Storage Fibre Channel Over Ethernet Adapter Kit for the x64 Emulex Storport Driver 3) reboot the OS (Windows Server 2012 R2) After the reboot, the adapter personality is changed back to ISCSI knowing that before installing the driver I could see the adapter personality as FCoE. Even when I don't install the driver and I reboot, the same thing happens and the adapter looses its FCoE personality. Any suggestion is well appreciated as I've tried everything I could think of.
Has anyone experienced a network problem with IBM Flex System CN4022 2-port 10Gb Converged Adapter after deploying VMware NSX??
This is my first post so I will pre-apologize for any mistakes...
We are running Dell Blades in an M1000e chassis with MXL switches in fabric A. Those have an 80gbps lag up to Force10 4820 core switches. iSCSI storage is attached to the core with (4) 10gbps links. All traffic on the blades are using two 10gb nics in each blade for all traffic. I have a vDS setup and port groups are setup to load balance based on nic utilization. iSCSI port groups are bound to an individual nic per best practice. My problem is that when doing a clone or recompose my network utilization for iSCSI never goes higher than 1-2gbps. I have NIOC setup with iSCSI as a priority. I know the bandwidth is there because vMotion takes up 6-7gbps. I'm looking for more speed on the storage side and want to make sure it isn't my network or configuration. We have Compellent storage with all SSD drives. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I am researching making a 3 host Hyper-V converged network cluster.
One of the steps is creating a Hyper-V switch with the below command in preparation for the virtual NICs to be added.
New-VMSwitch -Name $SwitchName -NetAdapterName $TeamNameΒ -AllowManagementOS $False -Confirm:$False -MinimumBandwidthMode Weight
Reference: step 4 this article Hyper-V Failover Cluster: Converged Network β ITProMentor
I have read several articles but can not get my head around the "-AllowManagementOS" parameter and what it is doing when set to false or true. Why would you not want to share a VMSwitch in a converged network with the management OS? Or why would you?
If anyone has a few minutes to explain I would really appreciate it please, going insane :(
Hey, just wanted to get folksβ preferred device for scenarios like this. Seems like a common issue so Iβm thinking thereβs got to be a pretty standard solution.
We have cells scattered around the plant that weβd like to network, but the components of the cells (controllers, hmiβs, etc) all use IP addresses like 192.168.1.2, etc. and the next cell uses the same addresses. Obviously I canβt just plug them in and throw them on the network, so Iβm looking for a compact, rail-mountable device that can act as a gateway to the plant network that would forward traffic to the relevant component.
Iβve found a few industrial switches that could potentially work, but since we have dozens of these that weβd like to retrofit, Iβm just wondering what the most cost-effective solution would be.
Right now Iβm leaning towards this Ethernet IP gateway from IFM: https://www.ifm.com/us/en/product/AL1920
Any experiences related to networking cells like this from scratch would be greatly appreciated

I have the official network adapter and an issue I'm having with it is that the flat screws simply won't screw in and while it's not as big of an issue since with the HDD it can be there on it's own but I wanna solve it anyway.
The screws are obviously too short and my solution here would be is to replace it with longer screws, how can I do that?
The network adapter I have is actually the official Sony one.
I have a 24-port TP-Link network switch and when I connect my Wii U Lan adapter it sometimes will work, sometimes right away cause serious network issues where I have to plug each ethernet device in one by one. There is no rhyme or reason, other than I wonder if there is a MAC address conflict? Somehow it is flooding my switch with packets?
It is an official adapter. Any ideas?
I have been using Atlas VPN for a while (a Free version one) just to browse some blocked site in my country like reddit here for example and has no problem so far.
But recently after updating to the latest Atlas VPN and try to turn on the VPN is also create another network adapter which I can clearly see in my control panel, and the real problem is actually I can't access my local network at all if this turned on. I can't access my CCTV or other local PC on my network.
Is there any workaround for this?
If not, is there any other alternative VPN? I'm not always use VPN on my PC but there is a lot of important sites for my work, and for some reason blocked in my country, smh
Hello HWS, I am moving soon and looking to get rid of stuff before moving. Local to 92844. Only looking to do local for now. Thank you and stay safe.
Ryzen 3700x $200 | Replaced with at 5900x. Never overclocked and only had it for a couple of months. Just pulled it out of my last build. |

Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch $280 | Was able to get my girlfriend the OLED switch and selling this one. Serial XKW50021229027. Comes with joycons, Nintendo adapter, dock, and joycon grips. Not the original animal crossing switch joycons switched out the shell. |
Regular Switch $250 | Just the tablet. Serial XAW10073274260. Moddable |
Sennheiser HD 598 SE $50 OBO | Bought these when I left for college in 2015. Haven't been using it and it has been laying around. Still works perfectly and nothing wrong with them. |
Ducky Shine 7 Year of the Dog edition $100 OBO | Bought this two years ago from mechanicalkeyboards.com. Just had it laying around and want to get rid of it. Scratches in the timestamp besides that fully functional. Cherry Mx Reds. |
2 PS4 Controllers Black and Red $20 each | Got my PS4 Pro stolen out of my car while moving so these are useless to me. |
Asus network adapter Free | Free if anyone wants it to have no use for it. |
I just installed VirtualBox 6.1.30 on a new Windows11 laptop (I had to disable memory integrity from windows defender first) and created a Linux VM, everything works fine.
Now I need to access my VM from other LAN devices and this is something I already did many times in the past using a Bridged Network Adapter instead of the NAT one BUT this time it seems that the bridged network adapter isn't installed on my system, (from the control panel I can see only Host-Only Network and no bridged adapter is available in VM's network settings)
Why is this happening? I already tried installing Host Extensions, repairing the installation, uninstalling and reinstalling VirtualBox and even trying to install an older version (6.1.28) but none of these methods fixed the problem.
EDIT:
Ok so as I supposed, the problem was that the installer installed only the Host-Only Network Adapter and not the Bridged one (don't know if this Win11, VirtualBox or my PC fault, but honestly I don't care).
Finally I solved thanks to this Stackoverflow answer which explained how to install the adapter manually from Windows Networking Settings
Hi. (I suppose the title should say Network Interface rather than adapter.)
If your VPN is on but the qBittorrent network interface is set to "any", is there a risk, or will qBittorrent automatically go through your VPN network?
Happened to see some other posts about this where people received notices with qBittorrent active and their VPN on. I just changed to qBittorrent today, but thought it was just a kill switch rather than completely necessary to get qBittorrent to go through your VPN connection as I assumed that would be automatic.
I tested with ipleak.net and whether the network interface was set to "any" or "nordlynx", the torrent ip test for both seemed to be using my VPN's ip address.
I never previously had any problems with uTorrent, but want to make sure qBittorrent won't be less secure strictly in terms of isp detection.
Cheers for any info!
Hello,
I have a Hyper-V server with multiple network adapters connected and I would like to assign one directly to a Linux guest VM.
The network adapter is connected to the host over USB, and yes I can easily bridge the connection to the guest with a virtual switch, but the guest VM requires full control of the network adapter in case it needs to switch to different SSIDs that may be available or change configurations.
Is it possible for this USB NIC to be passed to the guest VM?
Edit: Hol up, it sounds like Microsoft just announced support for USB passthrough using this project that currently works for WSL2 and may work for Hyper-V too. Another article if anyone finds their way here.
I discovered that the CM4 I had laying around must not come with WIFI as Batocera can't detect it. Anyone know if a USB to network adapter might work plugged in to the dock?
I'd like to add another Gigabit Ethernet connection to my Intel NUC 7th series sever.
Looking for recommendations on good quality, stable, available/purchasable new USB Ethernet adapters that have kernel driver support (I.e. no Github DKMs).
Hello, I've had this problem with my MediaTek wireless lan card for a few months. The adapter keeps disabling itself, it starts with losing connection and I can only see my home wifi connection on the network list, then the adapter disables itself and won't turn back on. When I reboot the laptop, it completely disappears and it's invisible in Device Manager. I've tried pretty much every fix that I found, literally none of them worked. The only thing that ever works is shutting the laptop down for a few seconds (but then the problem comes back again).
Here's a list of things I tried:
None of them are a permanent solution. I reinstalled windows a few days back but nothing came out of it. The problem still remains.
I've had some other problems along with this and I'm not sure if they are related:
Sometimes the laptop glitching causes the adapter to die (few second long buzzing noise and freeze).
It's getting frustrating, not sure what to do anymore..
I am trying to install freebsd through bootonly iso . When scanning the network it shows nothing . I went to the shell and did some iwctl commands .
Checked what the adapter was with sysctl and pciconf . IDK what to do . It works in Artix but does not seem to work in freebsd . Is the driver available ? Should I compile the driver from somewhere ? Is it not included in the iso ? What should I do ?
I am trying to increase the down speed of my LG CX t.v. from the default 100 down which is too low for me. Would this TP Link USB 3.0 to 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Network Adapter,
I just finished building a pc with an i5 12600K and an ASUS Prime Z690-P Wifi D4. I got the latest pop! with nvidia drivers installed and working fine, except that it won't detect my wifi adapter or bluetooth. neither show anything in the settings. I did some digging and found that it's an AX201 card, integrated wifi+bluetooth, and that sometimes newer CPUs require special firmware for the motherboard's wifi chip to work.
The network controller line in the output of lspci -nn
is Intel Corporation Device [8086:7af0] (rev 11)
.
When I try sudo dmesg | grep iwlwifi
I get a bunch of iterations of this:
[ 18.026765] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-so-a0-hr-b0-39.ucode failed with error -2
(looks like it tries from 63 down to 39). Then it says:
[ 18.026767] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: no suitable firmware found!
[ 18.026770] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: minimum version required: iwlwifi-so-a0-hr-b0-39
[ 18.026771] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: maximum version supported: iwlwifi-so-a0-hr-b0-63
[ 18.026772] iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: check git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git
so I tried downloading the latest main branch from that git link, which was last modified like 5 days ago. I extracted the contents into my /lib/firmware
folder and it successfully updated everything I think, but after a reboot nothing was different, everything gave the same output, still no detection.
Is this simply a hardware incompatibility? Is there any way around it? I could just get an external wifi+bt adapter, but it's frustrating because I specifically bought this motherboard for its modern bluetooth and wifi. so if there's any fix that doesn't involve buying new hardware, that would be ideal. but i've been at this all day and can't find any answers... thanks in advance
I opened my laptop this morning to find the Wi-Fi toggle in the quick menu gone but Bluetooth still working. The network adapter says that there are issues with the device or driver (Code 43). I have tried rolling back to an old driver and updating the drivers. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue before and has managed to fix it. I spoke to Microsoft Support and we just seemed to be going round in circles and then he told me I would have to pay for repair as Iβm out of warranty. So any tips would be appreciated. Thanks :)
