A list of puns related to "Clarinet Concerto"
I'm not particularly fond of woodwinds as solo instruments; I much prefer them in an orchestra, where their colour is invaluable. There's something about the timbre of wind instruments which I don't like.
However, I take it all back for Mozart's clarinet concerto K622, which for me is not only the greatest single piece ever written for a wind instrument, but one of the great concertos of all time, for any instrument. Mozart probably "understood" woodwinds better than almost any other composer, and that plus his own compositional genius has produced a visionary work of extraordinary richness and beauty.
I've been saddened to see many people here disparaging Mozart; so I'm just adding my 2 cents in the other direction.
Heard this beautiful arrangement and would love to find the sheet music, it doesnβt seem to be on imslp https://youtu.be/1dLnXdggL5c
Mine's either Krommer's Concerto (Op. 36) or Crusell's 3rd.
Hey everyone, I'm a high school student currently playing clarinet for my student orchestra, and my conductor has asked me to pick a piece for me to play the clarinet solo part for. While this is certainly exciting, as it will be my first time ever playing in such a capacity, I am not entirely confident in my playing to execute some of the more technically difficult pieces, and thus want to try and avoid more difficult concertos. What are some pieces that are on the easier side in terms of technique, but can still be played in such a way that people can appreciate it? I know there are some concertos that are considered the holy grail for the clarinet (ex. Mozart) but for that very reason, I would like to avoid them lest I perform them in a sub-par manner.
I've written melodic ideas, bass lines, and chord progressions, but I cannot write something that sounds like it's from the Classical Period. I want to write in the style of Krommer, Crusell, and Stamitz. It may be naive of me to do so at my level now, but I was wondering if you guys had any tips on how to sound like a composer from the classical period.

If this post reaches 500 upvotes and I will try to play the beginning of the Sibelius Violin Concerto on the Clarinet(Don't have any expectations I'm just a beginner who's been playing for a few months).
Iβll be playing this piece in an audition but I donβt know which movement I should play. I really think its an underplayed piece and Iβd like more people to know this great piece, which is why Iβm playing it for my audition.
Iβve crossed out the second movement because although it was good I just felt it wasnβt as good s as the others. But even after playing through I couldnβt choose if I should play the 1st or 3rd movement. I liked both movements, but imo the 3rd movement seems more fun to play in general, although I also really like the beginning of the 1st.
Iβd like to hear what people whoβve played this piece already think and also which movement they think would be better in an audition setting in terms of what the judges would be looking for such as contrast, expression, technique etc.
By the way, itβll be with a piano accompaniment not band
Hi all, I'm an amateur clarinet player and I try to use the little time I have to practice with scales and studies. I want a new challenge so I'm looking into concertos l. My level is something above the Stamitz nr3, so not much. What other concertos can you suggest for me? Thank you very much.
I've found next to nothing online about it, only one recording on Naxos, but it is an astounding piece of music, both to listen to and (I'd imagine) to play.
A new tune.
The reason why I've postponed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto project is because the key signature (Bb) is too difficult for most of our String players to play, plus, Bass Clarinet and Saxes don't belong in a concerto anyway.
However, I'm planning on making a new version of this project sometime in the future, and the key signature will be transposed to A Major, just to make it a whole lot easier for the string players.
I still appreciate to whoever submitted a recording before all of this happen.
If this reaches 1k upvotes,I'll play the beginning of Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A Major 2nd Movement.I started clarinet 3 months ago.
Im currently in freshmen year of hs and am playing the mozart clarinet concerto in bflat. Obviously every part is important but do any experienced players have spots in the music that separate good from the best clarinetists?
