A list of puns related to "Chlamydia Trachomatis"
I am so confused right now. I'm a 20 y/o male, and have been having some problems, such as burning sensation or pain while urinating and watery secretion. I went to my urologist and got tested for Chlamydia, which came out positive.
However, this does not make any sense to me at all. I am a virgin, and have never had any sort of sexual contact with anyone, which I can't understand. How is it that I got Chlamydia? I have been searching and I can't find anything that doesn't say "it can only be sexually transmitted". I'm so concerned and it's really bothering me, I just don't understand how this could've happened. I would be extremely thankful if anyone could help me understand this situation I'm going through.
Hi Reddit,

We have been interested in the molecular mechanisms that regulate the growth of Chlamydia trachomatis, an obligate intracellular pathogen that is the leading bacterial cause of sexually transmitted infections. The ultimate goal of these studies is to develop therapies to specifically prevent chlamydial growth. We recently published a manuscript, βPolarized Cell Division of Chlamydia trachomatisβ in PLOS Pathogens. Although it was assumed that this organism divides by binary fission, we showed in this manuscript that Chlamydia trachomatis divides by a polarized cell division process that is similar to the budding process of a subset of the Planctomycetes. This mechanism of cell division has not been documented in other human bacterial pathogens suggesting the potential for developing Chlamydia-specific therapeutic treatments.
