A list of puns related to "Beguile"
I've primarily played True Kin for like 150 hours, with a couple, short lived physical only mutants - never used mental ones. On those mental mutations, it says I can't level them "at this time" or something to that effect. Do they just scale with Ego (capped by your level) forever with no leveling them? Or is there some prerequisite that I need to meet to level them? Just a bit confused. Thanks.
On the eve of a festive occasion, in bleak midwinter, I was restless and then it suddenly washed over me -- in that rising up from the deep, enveloping Atlantic wave, yet hot like a longed-for bath -- the memory of those heady early summer, still spring days, when we were new, and bold, and flirted so hard -- so hard it was vertiginous -- and virginal all at once-- that I lost my footing. I fell, my love, I was prostrate at your feet. Im wunderschΓΆnen monat Mai. Would you even remember?
When I would sit on the porch, late into the evening, a jug of tea by my side, and drink you in. Your fluid kaleidoscopic English, your endless limbs, your hair, your presence, your all. It was fun, and funny, remember?
Yet I was not to leave the matchbox you assigned me. The little letters I left on your screen. You were afraid, my poor, all powerful, terrified love, and I heard and became a spectre to haunt you, to hunt you, and do no more harm. What was the attraction, for it ran deep? Did it truly run back and forth, like that infinite cable deep under the sea, that hooked us together, like two hapless satellites, to remain forever broken?
I'll come in search for you no more, though I see you, and read you, and long for you with all that is long and white and soft that would be ready to receive you had you once again wished. It is endless, my poor guileless love, the devotion and the pain, the page and the rhyme, and the wait, and the sleep.
I will wait. I will wish. In that, I -- we -- shall prevail. Come, sleep, .. oh let my joys have some abiding.
Hey, all! This is my first homebrew I've posted, and I was inspired to create it for a character I've been playing in a campaign for several months. He is a firbolg druid raised in a halfling village who is gradually learning more about his fey ancestry and the nature of his powers. In response to a plot hook from my DM in the form of a fey artifact after a long-running arc involving contact from the Feywild in my character's dreams, I was considering multiclassing into warlock (Archfey patron), but found it didn't feel quite like the right fit. I also considered wild magic sorcerer, as blessings from the fey are listed as a potential origin in the description, but due to the fact that my party already includes a wild magic barbarian, I wanted something a little more distinctly fey-flavored. After consulting with my DM, I came up with this sorcerer subclass: the Archfey Ascendant.
Constructive criticism and balancing recommendations are welcomed! I borrowed some ideas from the Archfey patron and college of glamours, but overall I think it has a pretty distinct feel. Let me know what you think!

Which would you prefer? I think that the Kraken is probably the more powerful of the two. Starts at level 40, as opposed to Amus being 35 (for what thats worth, in either direction). Amus has longblade skills, the Kraken nothing. Amus can equip humanoid-type gear slots, the Kraken only has...back, head, tail, floating item, I think (and body, but thats taken up as his combat weapon).
I could add a set of robot hands to the Kraken (worn on the back), but then, I could also do that to Amus. Or, kill Amus, and add his jetpack to the Kraken, lol...Anyways, what would you go with? Not just for the raw power, but maybe for a roleplay sorta thing. I feel like Amus is super neat, though for example I think a legendary merchant would beat him out once leveled to 35, except for those enormous resistance numbers of his. And the Kraken is cool, but he's just all brute force and no subtle style.
Anyways, curious what you all think and would go with, if you were on a beguile/prosleytize run. I could, btw, do both, but my prosleytize isn't strong enough to do it. If I do build it to be strong enough, well, then maybe both it'll be (it's hard to beat the legendary merchant thing though).
As the question says.
It's so cool. I'm pretty bad in combat. I beguiled a king crab, and now he and his two crablets are followers. If i spend fame and recruit someone via water ritual, are they a third possible follower, after beguile and proselytised?
I've been playing some true kin-runs that have gone fairly well (that is, getting beyond lvl. 10 consistently-ish) and am interested in trying a beguile mutant build.
Looking for advise on how should I spread my starting points, and which other mutations are a "must". Or should I try a more beginner friendly mutant first?
It makes me sad to see my book merchants get killed because they didn't like me taking everything they own :(
Eve says that βthe serpent beguiled me, and I ate.β
But the narrative seems to show that everything the serpent said came to pass.
The serpent says that βyour eyes will be open and you will be like gods, knowing the difference between good and evil.β
A few verses later, the narrator confirms that as soon as they ate the fruit, βtheir eyes were opened.β
Then at the end of the chapter, Yahweh himself confirms the rest, saying that βthe man has become like one of us, knowing the difference between good and evil,β which is no more and no less than the serpent promised.
So where is the βbeguilementβ or trick?
I started a new build and quickly ended up with a beguiled honey skunk on the team. Whenever it attacks an enemy a pool of honey is left behind. That honey is worth $$$.
Might be a decent strategy to gain those early levels and earn early cash.
I'm at 10 beguile, 25 ego, and level 19, and I'm not having much luck with this one I've found. I'm even hitting him with berate before I try to beguile. I have wings, so from the air I can try as long as my patience holds out. Am I wasting my time, or is it still possible, albeit with a low chance of success?
So we know that beguiling a character let's them join your party, which is cool. But we're limited in that we can proselytize once and beguile once. What I've found is that by dominating something you've already beguile you can spend it's mutation, attribute, and skill points as though you were building your own character. So what I'm wondering is what would happen if you were to teach them to beguile/proselytize, dominate them to control them and use it, could you get around party limits? Would their beguiled guy also be friendly to you if their... Host? Is friendly to you via your own beguile? Would that friendliness stay if the guy you beguile and taught beguile to whose party member they technically are died? Does anyone have experience with this or any ideas on how to improve this plan?
I found a frozen clone of Saad Amus on strata 25 beneath Grit Gate. I want to beguile him but I just get the message that my "coquetry" enrages him. I have 25 ego and level 20. I tried to do it when he was frozen still, and now I'm frozen also. Should I have waited for him to defrost and come at me? I was afraid he would murder me before I could even get the beguile off.
Any tips? Is 25 ego enough to beguile him? I have been using a regular old snapjaw brute as my beguiled boyfriend and he has been great for ages. I don't have Dominate because mutation roulette, but after so much time together, I decided it was okay to cheat a little with swap
and spend his skill points, attrib points, and mutation points. I also have Mehmet bought with Joppa rep, but he does not seem very good. And I have a proselytized goatfolk fella. I have been unable to proselytize any purple uniques up until this point, including a purple named drainage gate (?!) near Joppa. I have seen youtubers proselytize snapjaw warlords at level 1 with 22 ego... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, or if that was an old version of the game, or what.
We know how to find you, we are coming and we will take whatβs rightfully ours.
Weβll probably just pay you some gold for the name, feel free to hit me up.
I am having my best run ever. First time I made it past level 15 (I am now 30). It might have something to do with my four clones (used to be five, one got eaten by a madpole) but I think it's mostly down to Dominate and Beguile. Mind you I'm not complaining. I love it. There's something incredibly great about using all these terrible monsters as just dungeon exploring drones, bringing me treasure while all five of me chill it upstairs.
Make sure you get both. I'm pretty sure you don't get EXP for kills made by mind-slaves you haven't Beguiled. And make sure you check the ichor merchants. Your clones will have (and develop) the same mutations as you, so right now I have three beguiled parties (looking for two more candidates) - two dromad caravan guards and a levelled up Slog who basically just carries all my shit with his ridiculous strength. The great thing about being me is that there are so... many... mes.
True Kin, more like True Kuck. Esper squad for life.
If you beguile a hero is it supposed to beguile all its followers? I've never played an esper before, and I'm in beta branch so it's possible it's a bug but while I always knew beguile was strong I didn't think it was quite that good.
Hey all! Pretty new to monster-homebrewing but I got excited about this Pied Piper-type elf I've been working on and felt like sharing it! I'd appreciate constructive criticism on balance because a lot of you probably know better than me, but otherwise just enjoy!

Obvious answer is that Melkor was not ready and wanted to lay plans for a more complete and assured victory. However, in consideration of Melkorβs hatred of FΓ«anor and ManwΓ«βs admonition that Melkor is unstoppable, Iβm wondering if thereβs more to it. Is this perhaps, the first sign of a shift in Melkor, from a being of cunning and wrath to one of hate and fear? Can this shift have been induced by three ages chained in Mandosβ basement? Put another way, I suggest incarceration (instead of rehabilitation) made Melkor more craven and evil.
