I would be interested to know anyone's thoughts on India officially recognizing the status of the Romani (Gypsy) people.
For those who are unaware, my people originated from northwestern India - Punjab/Rajasthan/Gujarat areas. We left India about 1,000 years ago and while the isn't a definite reason for this, the most plausible is this was a result of capture during the incursions by Mahmud of Ghazni. Various events and pressures forced a westward migration eventually leading to Europe. Through all this time, the Romani have kept to themselves to a large part; evidence of our Indian heritage is preserved in our language and even some practices can still be linked back to Hinduism.
In 2016 there was serious discussion in the Indian government about recognizing us as part of the Indian diaspora but the momentum for that apparently was lost. Do you think it would make sense for India to establish some form of formal recognition of our people?

I am trying to translate a sentence from English to Romani (whatever type of Romani, I'm not picky), and I have tried my best. I'm pretty sure it's jibberish though, as there are few tools to help with learning Romani or translating Romani, and I'm pretty sure I've mixed in different types of Romani in one sentence.
Here's the English sentence:
"I'm not a Jew, but I am Romani, and I don't like people like you thinking they're better than people like me."
This was in response to an anti-semite asking if he was a Jew, and he didn't quite like that, so if you have any tips on how to make the sentence a little more aggressive then that would be highly appreciated.
Here's my feeble attempt lol:
"Me sim naj ekh evreu, ale me sim ekh rom, a man nanti voliv folki sar tu kon mislinel von si komi lacho sar folki sar mandi."
Feel free to change up the sentence to be more natural if you're translating, as long as the core meaning is preserved. Also, I'm open to just knowledge about the Romani language, it's grammar, syntax, etc.
Full premise:
Gothic psychological horror set during the Middle Ages about a Romani man who was wrongly charged with murder. Braided to a spoked wheel and crucified in the town square, with his legs mutilated from the first round of beating, a hellish creature which feasts on misery taunts him. The monster can only move while the main character isn't looking, but it's more difficult than it sounds due to tiredness from pain and lack of sleep, as well as the beast's ability to cast illusions.
So, if it wasn't clear enough already, it's a 100% anti-torture story since apparently society hasn't yet grasped the barbarity inherent to torture, and being anti-torture consequently isn't the default.
Feedback is much appreciated. I know the logline needs hewing down a little, but would like to see where you lot think those cuts ought to be.
Edit: Had one commenter say this sounds like torture porn--not my intent. All of the torture will occur off-screen. This is a story where trying to be schlocky with the torture would detract from the story and the message ("real torture is horrible! Now get some sick pleasure by watching some fake torture!"), so not going in that direction.
Another common thing folks have brought up is whether this will be a short or feature; I think it would work as both. Read the replies if you'd like to see how I'm thinking of executing that.
When I was living in north texas, about once every fre weeks we got a visit from a large group of "gypsies " (I don't know if that's an offensive term but I hope not?
They came in every few weeks always at least 12-15 people, and very close to closing time.
They always had something wrong. They found gum in the ranch (cooks weren't allowed to chew gum) amongst many complaints.

So as far as I have seen, Romani people tend to live in poverty and hence don't get access to education and that leads to more crime caused by Romani people. So what do you think are realistic ways of making the integration an easier and smoother process?
I tried to come up with a redesign option for the Romani People flag where the RGB contrast issue in the original could be minimized without changing the original colors. The North Korea Flag inspired me to swap the color of the mandala wheel on the original flag to emphasize the weel without changing too much the red (bond to earth) chakra symbology. Its longer 1:2 proportion on also inspired me to suggest the notion of "ground" and "long distances", offering more horizontality than in the not-so-wide original Romani Flag.

Hello all, I'm not a Romani but I am a traveller and wanted to ask the community's opinion on the current trend of "Vanlife" travellers?
Have you met any/many? Do you think the internet generation upping roots and travelling on a permanent basis is good for the Existing traveller communities?
Do you feel that it helps to bring the benefits of the life to a wider generation, or do you feel that it's encroaching?
With growing house prices and an increasingly disenfranchised youth, I can see the Vanlife as becoming a huge community of its own, and I hope that if we can build some conversations then it doesn't negatively affect the traditional communities.

So I have read a lot about the origin of Hungary, Romania and a common minority for both countries the Romani people. I just need a confirmation or a denial of what I have found.
Romania: The Romanian language comes from Vulgar Latin spoken in Roman provinces. After the fall of the Byzantine empire, the Romans mixed with Dacians and Romanian people are born.
Hungary: A nomadic tribe that arrived in the Carpathian basin from Asia around the 8th century and settled.
Romani: Originally from North-western India. Arrived in Europe around the 13-14th century when Romania was part of the Kingdom of Hungary and so they spread across the kingdom and the rest of Europe. Called Roma because in the Romani language the word for man is roma. Also called gypsy because Europeans mistakenly taught that they are from Egypt.
Am I right or is there a gap in my knowledge?
