A list of puns related to "Baguazhang"
I am wondering what people have heard or know about the where and how Baguazhang came to be, I'd love to hear lineage stories, historical information, and even trying to figure out where certain movements and practices came from by comparing them to other styles... let's hear what people know!

I've been considering trying this martial art out, it appears to be effective against multiple opponents. Is there a ranking system and how is mastery evaluated? Would it be hard to find a good teacher?
I like this one....I love the way the guy presents it and breaks it down.
I also posted in r/martialarts.
I KNOW they gonna hate ...but....I wanted to stir the hornet's nest. I could not resist. There's going to be coal in my stocking next year.
Anyway here it is.

. . . quiet, small, internal--intrinsic, even. I see nothing like it in Bagua videos. Perhaps I am not doing Baguazhang at all! Ha! Best wishes to everyone on her/his practice and development.
Does anyone know of a baguazhang school in Denver? Can't find anything online. Looking to start learning, I could try online videos but this seems like a martial art I would need to have an instructor for to learn correctly.
Any experience with JiuLong Baguazhang from Dr. Painter and the Gompa?
I'm thinking about buying the six DVD set from him.
I know this is somewhat hopeless but are there any Bagua Zhang practitioners 20-30βs range in the San Luis Obispo County of California or at least near it? Taiji or Xing Yi as well? If not. would be really cool if we could create a small community of internal martial artists that also like practical martial application and pressure testing as well as form and health.
im looking to learn BaGua, my only option right now is flyingtortoise.org and they teach both versions of BaGua, this is my first "martial art" because I've done MMA fighting before but I'm trying to figure out what the difference is?
Volume one of a two volume series. This is Subtle Hands Volume One.
Check out these new albums from Bagua Joe. My artwork on the covers! ;) Taijiquan snd Baguazhang related music https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/baguajoe/insurgents-3 https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/baguajoe/energy-plus-time-2
One of the best examples of baguazhang I have found as of late.
These are like the instructions on how to use your baguazhang. I found studying them gave me a better understanding of the art itself.
Baguazhang Total song
Walking (mobility) is primary
Store then release, evade then return
False and true change inside the steps
Move like the wind, stand as if nailed in place
Refine Bai , Kou, penetrating & overturning footwork
The waist is the axis, the Qi is the flag
Eyes aware in six directions, hands and feet move swiftly
Move like a dragon, crouch like a tiger, flow like a river, be still like a mountain
Yin & Yang hands, turning upward and downward
Sink shoulders & drop elbows with Qi concentrated in the lower dan tian
Embrace the six harmonies, avoid dispersion & disturbance
3 Internal: Xin (emotional mind), Yi (wisdom mind), Li (muscle power)
Xin, Yi, Li, & Qi coordinate together
3 External: Hands & feet, elbows & knees, shoulders & hips
Qi flows in the whole body naturally
The entire body acts as one unit
Kou & Bai steps should be precise
Rotation, change, advance & retreat rely upon the waist
Hands strike 3, feet kick 7
Extend hand and foot simultaneously, neither arriving late
1/21Hip strikes walking, shoulder strikes crashing
Press in close with the whole body, strike with invisible knees
Donβt block punches & kicks
First priority is to close with the opponent
The words of the mysterious ways are key to skillful boxing
It would be useless without using pure skill
"Hundreds of exercises are not as good as simply walking, walking is the master
of hundreds of exercises."
Thirty-six Song Formula of the Circle Walking Practice
Legacy of Dong Hai Chuan
Song 1
Hollow the chest, suspend the crown and sink the waist,
Swing the step, join the knees, and grasp the ground firmly.
Sink the shoulders and drop the elbow to extend the forward palm,
The eyes watch between the thumb and the index finger.
Song 2
First pile up the rear elbow to have the elbow hide the heart,
The hand turns and drops to follow forward.
Follow the anterior elbow with a holding power,
The anterior hand and posterior hand in a group of spirits.
Song 3
Walk forward with curved steps and straight foot,
Just as in pushing millstones.
Flex the knee, follow the hip, and the waist turns the foot,
Eyes watch three aspects without wobbling the body.
Song 4
To arrive at the target in a straight motion is not special,
2/21Fluidly circling left and right is preferab

I was wondering what I would expect when going in, I am currently training in TKD with aspects of BJJ and Muay Thai. Has anyone worked with this style?
Master Hai Yang offers yet another information filled lecture on baguazhang's mud-stepping. I had no idea the mud wading step came from Chinese Wrestling as he reveals. He gives a proper demo near the end if you want to miss the lecture, skip to:20:45. The full lecture is in the link above.
