I'm on Kubuntu 21.10 on a brand new PC. I'd like to finally get an emulator set up like a "HyperSpin" sort of environment for all of my retro gaming needs. Emulation Station hasn't had a build in 6 years, and the .deb says it's got dependency issues. Attract Mode is only available for Linux when building from source, but trying to pull artwork from thegamesdb.net fails saying that I haven't built my project for libcurl, and apparently this is some sort of standing issue for the past two years with Attract Mode. Does a modern solution exist in 2021 for getting a universal emulation interface like this up and running for me? I'm willing to put in a little bit of legwork if it can't scrape all of the artwork I need, but I need it to scrape at least some of it so that I know how to do it manually. I tried installing a layout for Attract Mode, and for reasons I can't understand, it still displays the default Pac-Man interface, so the instructions I've been able to find appear to be woefully out of date.
Also, if they need to offload a big contract, like Lowry's, down the line, who's to say they can't work their magic when the time comes? Didn't the Heat get Lowry by literally offloading a previous bad contract in Dragic's in order to get him?
Or are the Heat screwed in a couple years and are doomed to be stuck in cap hell? Because we saw the Heat recover quickly after Bron left in 2014, after D Wade left/Bosh got bloodclots in 2016, etc, etc... so I doubt the Heat will be worse off. Stars and role players alike will continue to wanna play in Miami over time too; it's only becoming a more enticing hotspot over time, matching LA and NY.
Lowry - Duncan Robinson - Butler - Tucker - Bam with Nunn, Herro and Dedmon off the bench is a pretty good lineup and upgrade overall.

In a full healthy season without the 7 week offseason, I don't see many teams definitively better. Only the Nets in the East are definitively better, with the Bucks & Sixers being just arguably better.
As someone who played both BF1 and BFV for around 2k hours in total, I can easily tell the lack of immersive Grand Operation modes were what made BF1 so special to me and it was almost the only game mode I was playing in BF1.
BFV had breakthrough, but it wasn't anything even good as BF1 except the Pacific maps that was designed for it. I know most of the hardcore BF fans love the Conquest mode for the most, I dearly hope DICE took great lessons from the map design of BFV and they also designed those huge 2042 maps for Breakthrough as well.
Conquest does fit better with huge maps, but I am more fan of forwarding to the objective like a story driven wide map than a sandbox experience.
Using CoinOpsX V5, I've added a bunch of MP4's to the ha8800_screensaver folder on my USB, where the defaulted screensaver MP4's reside.
I have the settings set to the following in the LU Attract Mode Settings:
- Attract Mode: ON
- Shuffle: On
- Video Source: USB List
All of the videos are the same:
- Encoder: MPEG-4
- Aspect Ratio: (1920x1040)
- Framerate: 23.97 fps
- Video BitRate: 4000 kbps
- Audio BitRate: 128 kbps
- 4 of the 5 videos are under 50MB.
Of the 5 videos, only one of the videos plays, and it is the largest of the 5 MP4's at over 65MB.
Is there a list of known specifications to get MP4's to play from USB in Attract Mode? I'm perplexed by this one.

I’m relatively new to retropie and attractmode but was poking around in
/opt/retropie/configs/all/attractmode/menu-art/wheel
and noticed that there is a Plex.png file.
As far as I can tell this folder contains image files for the wheel that displays all the emulators and I have had success swapping a few for different images that I like better. However Plex is obviously not an emulator. Is there a way to link Plex to launch from attractmode or does anyone know why this is here? There are some other images I’m not familiar with but this one stuck out to me. It could also be that it came with a theme and I dumped all the images in there.
I don't want regular arcade attract on my ALP.
I've set up Attract Mode FE installed via retropie-setup. Spent ages setting up all the emulator and romlist configs, it's great.
Whenever I action something from the retropie-setup script, updates, install a new emulator etc. some kind of hook/script does some auto install of emulators and romlists based on what folders or cores are on my storage. Nice idea but quite annoying when it pulls loads of random emulators with no roms into the front-end.
Does anyone have any idea if it can be turned off?
