A list of puns related to "Artsy Craftsy"
...can be fun and annoying at same time. Lol.
He's in kindergarten and he has this assignment "Disguise The Turkey". Even it's not due till November 15th, I decided to prepare the things I need to make him engage in doing the said activity. Solar system is his top favorite topic at the moment so his turkey would be an astronaut. Knowing him, he won't finish "hiding" the turkey if I just use watercolor/markers/crayons. He'd just do some scribbles then he'd be like "All done" and I'd be like "One more color, please" till I lose my shit.
I have an electronic cutting machine and I already prepared the outfit cutouts so he can just glue it tomorrow perhaps or this weekend. But today, we just finished the space background using different kind of paints and apparently the other type that we used is not a typical watercolor!. (It came with his Kiwi crate subscription and I don't know where did I put the manual/guidebook for the project that was part of it.) I managed to wash off the paints from our fingers but I still have a blue paint in my nose. Hahahaha. Luckily, I can just hide it using face mask when I drop him off in school tomorrow. Hopefully a facial scrub would do the trick so I don't have to suffer from my kid and my husband's chuckles when they look at me. Lol.

Hello there again! I am a 27yo lady who likes a variety of things in the artsy craftsy realm. I am also into baking (pie, anyone?), and plants. If I could get new houseplants and just live in a house that is also a forest, uh, that would be fine with me... Also animals. I am a veterinary assistant in tech school. I have one pupper, one kitteh, and a betta who lives with his little janitor snail friend. I have the Animal Crossing too. I like watching TV and movies and not just having background noise. Not a fan of multitasking... Because I am terrible at it? I also am into the devil's lettuce sometimes, so that would be a plus-a-roni if you were too... I guess I'm looking for someone who is also into my hobbies, but also wants to talk to people on the regular. SO, let's see what happens!
Hi!
I live in central U.S. and Iβve wanted a snail mail pen pal for so long! I like to get creative with letters and stationary and would love to connect with someone who is similar, maybe we can inspire each other. I enjoy doing little watercolor doodles, sending Polaroid pictures, doing some hand-lettering, using unique papers and stickers, etc. I havenβt used wax stamps before but Iβm curious about them.
Here are a few of my interests:
Makeup/skincare My dog (sheβs a cute, floppy-eared Doberman) and any other animals Painting, drawing, calligraphy Iβm getting married in September and I love to talk about wedding planning! I work in the music industry - Iβd love if you wanted to send me your music recommendations, I might end up booking those bands! I love boxing and working out Fantasy/sci-fi Video games (Xbox & switch, currently addicted to animal crossing) Outdoor activities - camping, hiking, etc.
Looking forward to meeting some of you!
I know many of you out there are artistic and or crafty. With this being said, what do you like to draw, paint, make, etc? Do you have favorite materials? What is your favorite thing you've made? What is something you'd like to try?
I went to Geek Craft Expo last weekend and it was pretty small. I'm very spoiled by Austin's offerings in terms of artsy-craftsy fairs. Any bigger, gooder ones around here :)?
This is our seventh Christmas together, and I'm fresh out of fresh ideas.
She's into literature, ecology, arts, crafts, baking, anything creative. Lately she's been exceptionally into learning new languages (Chinese, French)
Price is not important (but I'm no Mitt Romney, either). A dollar gift can be as good as a thousand dollar one. She makes more than me, and buys everything she wants or needs herself, so I need to think of something she hasn't thought of yet... :)
I feel I know her so well by now, that I'm unable to think outside the box. Please, Santa's Helpers, help me out!
Hi ladies. I love making things. I tend to lean more toward the hippie-chic projects, and enjoy making things from recycled items as well. Does anyone know of any good craft-idea sites, or is there a subreddit for this kind of thing?
Working on two potential cosplay ideas; Big Macintosh from MLP:FIM, and Wizardmon from Digimon.
Big Mac is the easy one, and as such, has higher priority for this help request, as there's a much better chance I can finish everything else in time for the next con. I'm looking for someone who knows how/is able to make custom appliques; wanting to put Big Mac's cutie mark on the back pockets of the jeans I'll be wearing for it.
For the Wizardmon, he has several zippers capped with small crescent moon zipper pullers, as well as a couple mounted on his shoes. I've found one in my walmart's crafts area for $3, but it's the only one, they never restock, and I'm coming up blank on finding it online... I may not be looking in the right places, though. So for that, I'm looking for directions to a proper site, or someone who can make them.
Obviously not looking for freebies; if you can help with making these, let me know and we can discuss cost/price.

Disclaimer: this only tangentially related to magic.
To state it simply, I am wondering if anyone knows where I can buy a sheet of plastic roughly the thickness and texture of that used in plastic deck boxes. And if so, what is it that I am looking for in terms of jargon/lingo.
Background: I recently got a new guitar which I love, but it doesn't have a headstock (on purpose). However, the strings end where the headstock would be and are rather sharp. So, I am looking to make a cover that I can slip over the end, and the type of plastic used in deck boxes has the flexibility to be workable and the strength to be protective.
Indie perfumes is a broad category of fragrances that refers to small-batch, maker-owned/led perfume houses. Indie perfumes are highly collectable in a few key ways: makers often issue a limited amount of a scent, and keep it in their main collection for a short time, the scents themselves are often highly unique, and the makers tend to make fragrances based on pop culture, literature, and art work that resonates with large swaths of buyers.
Indie perfumes are usually small 5ml oil bottles, and retail for $30 or less a pop, making them attractive to both casual buyers and hard core fans.
I've written about the undignified demise of another indie perfume house before, and in that write up I detailed a typical path indie perfume houses usually follow during a flame-out: longer and longer delays for shipping, some "three card monty" with shipping labels and turn around times, increasingly defensive social media posts, and then a steep slide into outright fraud, theft, lawsuits, chargebacks and mutual vitriol between maker/owner and buyers/fans leading to a single smoking skid mark in the place of what was once a thriving hobby seller.
Our story today is a little different.
CEO and Head Witch
Sixteen92 is an indie perfume maker. But not just any house. Unlike other makers, Sixteen92's Clair Baxter ("CEO and Head Witch") spend many years in business, on the marketing side, before founding the house in 2014. An article profiling the maker in 2018, by Trista Edwards, quotes the owner: "I spent a decade in advertising and branding, working with fashion and luxury retail brands."
In 2017, the house won an award from the Institute for Art and Olfaction β Fourth Annual Art and Olfaction Awards 2017 (for their fragrance "Bruise Violet"). The website lists an impressive array of press nods, including:
The Art & Olfaction Awards (see above)
Basenotes
CaFleureBon
ELLE Dec. 2018
Fragrantica
Mavenly + Co.
The New York Times
The owner is self-described (somewhat cloyingly) as "Art school-educated, former advertising Creative Director, fine art photographer and classically trained opera singer (not all at the same time)."
I am an indie perfume lover and collector and I remember being a tiny bit intimidated by just how together, accomplished, and just...cool this owner seemed.
The branding, customer service, and overall polish of the website a

Normally I post a contest that has to do with something artsy or craftsy or story related for contest week but this time around I think Iβm just gonna go with something simple. Iβve been pretty down lately. Seeing a lot of people just being unkind to each other. So for this contest I want you to do something kind. Help someone or give a compliment or even a smile. Iβve been known to compliment peoples shoes because itβs not creepy and buy a chocolate for an over worked cashier. Something small.
Then. Tell me about it. Contest ends on Sunday.

Hi all!
There's a lot of artsy craftsy people here. I had a thought (yes, sometimes I think):
I was thinking it would be fun to hold a stitch n bitch on one of the RAOA Discord's voice channels. It would of course be subject to all RAOA and RAOA discord rules. No idea if this would be a recurring thing, or just once, but I did want to see who would be interested. I know some of you already are interested and I'll try to tag you so you can put some input in too. (And maybe if any Mods have any insights on what would and wouldn't be ok and how we can make it not make more work for them). So who's interested? And what thoughts do you have about it to make it fun? Apprehensions?
WHAT IS A STITCH N BITCH??? People just get together to stitch (any needle work, knitting, crochet etc) while chatting. But why limit it to fiber arts? Consider participating If you make stamps, paint/draw, or really if you do any other activity or are just chilling on the couch.
ANYWAY I personally can't participate in one most of the time, but If there's interest I can hold/join one on a Tuesday or Thursday evening for about an hour. I'm thinking *tentatively* next Thursday Sept 2, starting 7:15pm pacific (I'm sorry east coast, and international peeps I know that's late in your time zones but that's really all the availability I have). AND OF COURSE OTHERS CAN HOLD ONE TOO WHENEVER THEY CHOOSEπ Maybe if a lot of people from a lot of places are interested we can have them pop up at a variety of days and times.
Feel free to tag anyone you think might be interested as well!
What is Brutalism:
Text via https://www.mydomaine.com/brutalist-design-guide-2014
Brutalism is an architectural style characterized by a deliberate plainness, crudity, and transparency that can often be interpreted as austere and menacing. It emerged in the mid-20th century and gained popularity in the late 1950s and 1960s.
The Historical Context Popular in the 1960s and 1970s (though as early as the 1940s, according to T, The New York Times magazine), brutalism originated postβWorld War II when the design of low-cost housing and government buildings were composed of mainly raw, unrefined materials. Culturally and economically speaking, nations around the worldβfrom Europe to South Americaβwere looking to rebuild after the war. Steel was expensive to import at that time, so builders turned to affordable concrete. As such, brutalism's etymology comes from the French word meaning "of concrete," or bΓ©ton brut.
As an artistic movement, brutalism formed as a response to early 20th-century modernism. "Where Modernism was poised and polite, often incorporating white plaster and walls that concealed the buildingsβ internal logic, Brutalism evolved into something bold and confrontational, its heavy, rugged forms forged of inexpensive industrial materials that disguised nothing at all," explains T magazine.
Around the world, and at the height of its popularity, the architectural style took on numerous ideological interpretations. In Eastern Europe for example, brutalism became associated with socialism and authoritarian power, while in warmer, post-colonial climates like Brazil, India, Ghana, and Kenya, brutalism seemed to assert a new freedom. Architects and builders sought to project a sense of strength through their fortress-like designs, while also celebrating the imperfect appeal of handmade items.
Brutalism's Downfall
By the 1970s, however, brutalism lost its edge and many of these monolithic, gravity-defying structures (such as Alison and Peter Smithson's Robin Hood Gardens housing project in East London, which was completed in 1972), were demolished. Concrete doesn't age well, writes My Modern Met, and just like its weathered aesthetic, the material took on a negative connotation of urban decay and economic failure. "The irony is that Brutalism was born out of utopian idealism. The styleβs progenitorsβPeter and Alison Smithson, Le Corbusier, Moshe Safdieβshared a commitment to social welfare through architecture," counters an article in Flux magazine
... keep reading on reddit β‘This happened about 7 years ago. I used to work for a retail pharmacy as a pharmacy tech, and so I wore slacks and blouses. Next door to my work was a large craft store chain. I am very artsy-craftsy, so when I had extra time before work I liked to wander the craft store.
One day, I (23F) was busy looking at some paints when a guy comes up to me and asks where a craft supply is. I am not wearing the uniform or even the color scheme of the uniform of the store. I tell him that I donβt work there and I donβt know. (It wasnβt within my field of crafting so I had no idea).
He walks back down the aisle, then turns around sharply and points a finger at me aggressively. βYou donβt have to be so rude!β
I smile at him and tell him with a sugary sweet voice, βYou donβt have to be so stupid!β
Shut him up real quick and he walked away. Victory is sweet π€£
Edit: thanks for the love, everyone! And to the people who doubt me, why are you assuming Iβm the rude one? My tone was calm and polite when telling him I donβt work there, so I didnβt know where his item was. I only go down the aisles that have my crafting supplies, so I legit did not know. He was the aggressor, and I refuse to be bullied. I had enough of that in school, Iβm not going to put up with that as an adult. Not my fault his ego was bruised by my initial polite response. I hope you can understand now π
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
I guess the concept didn't work
Soooo my wife is all artsy craftsy and I remember last year when she asked if she could buy a Cricket. I was honestly shocked bc she fucking hates insects, but I said, "Sure, go for it". Next thing you know I've got a charge on my VISA for $300+. I asked her, "Yo, does this cricket shit solid gold or something?!"
Aaand that's when I learned it was a crafting device that automates cutting of various printed material into delicate and intricate shapes for all the hobbiers out there.
To make a long story longer....noticed on Fintel that $CRCT is ranked #141 for short squeeze, which don't sound like much buuuut.... here's the deets:
Fintel Short Squeeze Rank: #141
MC: 6,887.62MM
SI%: 23.92
Days to Cover: 10.44 (Well that's interesting...)
Borrow Rate: 29.14%
Overall Squeeze Score outta 100: 75.51
Options chain is monthly and fairly dry at the moment (as in barely a few K per expiry). If that wasn't enough, it's Float is only 22M!
TL;DR: Hobby stock $CRCT is ripening for a squeeze, let's get it b4 we too late.
Not financial advice. I shoved a few blue crayons in my gourd before hammering out this solid piece of Shakespearian literature.
Hi everyone! I'm here in the hunt for online friends. I've always liked to interact with people from different places.
Being honest, I'm going through a lot right now. And I wish I could use some support and spend time with genuine and caring people. And of course, I'll offer the same.
I'm a funny, empathetic and sensitive girl. I'm into art, I love painting and drawing. I also like photography, scrapbooking, bookbinding, clay sculpting and any other artsy craftsy activity. Lately I would like to learn how to play more videogames.
Well just hmu if you wanna talk :)
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Mathematical puns makes me number
