But we also can meet in Megaris the man who says he is Artaxerxes, blinded by Darius (Artabanus). I'm a lil bit confused. Which version is true? Who is the real Artaxerxes?

Who is Artaxerxes in Ezra 4?

My understanding is that Artaxerxes wasn't until the 5th century BCE, however in Ezra 4, he commands the Temple to stop being built in the 6th century BCE approx. 75 years before Artaxerxes I was king of Persia. So who is this Artaxerxes that was after Cyrus and before Darius? I thought Cambyses II was king of Persia between those two (and possibly Bardiya)

[CLAIM] The Republic of Artaxerxes

The Republic of Artaxerxes (Persian: جمهوری ارشیر یکم‎‎د, *jomhuri-ye artaxerxes), more commonly known as Artaxerxes (ارشیر یکم‎‎د, from Old Persian: Artaxšaça "whose rule is through truth", while also thought to be a references to Xerxes the Great), is a republic situated entirely within old Iran. Artaxerxes is notable in that it largely does not follow Islam, unlike much of the surrounding area, instead following a religion termed the "Cult of Angels" (جامعهی فرشته‌ها jami'a fereshte'ha society of angels).

History

As the whole world was ravaged, Iran was no exception. Society collapsed, warlords reigned supreme, and people suffered.

Artaxerxes was officially founded on the the 23rd of March, allowing future celebrations to be held immediately following Nowruz. The Great Prophet was installed as the first President of Artaxerxes, however on the 25th of March He called the first round of elections, to be held on the 25th of May, wherein the "true first President" would be installed.

Governance

Artaxerxes is a semi-presidential republic, lead by the President of the Republic who appoints a cabinet, headed by the Prime Minister, who are ultimately responsible to the legislature. While in theory many powers are shared or divided between the President and the Prime Minister, in practice the President largely confines themselves to acting outwith the Republic and the Prime Minister confines themselves to within the republic.

A large number of the legislature, as well as usually the President, are senior members of the Cult of Angels, though they are bound both by the Constitution and the Words of the Angels to act in a secular manner when acting as politicians. It remains a contentious issue, however.

Religion

The primary and official state religion of Artaxerxes is termed the Cult of Angels. It is a decentralised religion worshipping seven Abrahamic angels: Jibra'il (Gabriel), Mikha'il (Michael), Rafa'il (Raphael), Azra'il (Azrael), Israfa'il (Israfil), Yura'il (Uriel) and Sama'il (Samael). These Archangels, believed to be accompanied by their individual angelic hosts, lead the various castes that the people of the Republic are divided into. These are based on profession, and may change, though in practice it can be difficult.

Jibra'il, the messenger of God, is the Archangel of postal workers, telecommunications wor
