Apple Arcade Puns

Looking through the top games on mobile you are flooded with ads, hidden costs, pay to win, and it's tiring.

That's why I find apple arcade brilliant. None of the apps have in app purchases, meaning they are designed differently from their core, not sucking the player into a pay to win cycle.

The games on apple arcade feel like actual full fledged games that used to exist at the dawn of mobile gaming. Plus you can trust kids not to rack up charges through apple arcade as there's no purchases.

I am honesty really loving the direction apple arcade is taking and I am finding myself actually playing games on my phone again.

I recently played The Collage Artist, Discolored and Mosaic and really like that kind of game (i.e., where there is ambiguity, and surreal, slower, ethereal moments, and it is not totally abstract.)

Are there others on Apple Arcade that would fit in this category as well? Thanks.

Aside from using iCloud and Game Center, I've noticed other consistencies across Apple Arcade games. It seems like Apple has a strict set of rules for these games. Here's a list of some that seem to be Apple Arcade requirements. What others are there? Any notable exceptions to these?

Apple Ecosystem

• MUST be available for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
• MUST be available for tvOS and macOS (with a special exception for certain existing iOS games that created an enhanced "+" edition for re-release on Apple Arcade)
• MUST use iCloud to automatically save and load game data across multiple Apple devices (unless the device has iCloud disabled)
• MUST support Family Sharing for multiple Apple ID accounts that share an Apple Arcade subscription
• SHOULD integrate basic Game Center support
• If online multiplayer is supported, MUST use Game Center for online multiplayer identity
• If achievements are supported, MUST use Game Center for tracking achievements
• MUST support multiple user profiles on tvOS devices and multiple user accounts on macOS devices
• MUST allow native screen recording
• If the OS reports that the user's Apple Arcade subscription has been canceled, MUST block entry to the game

Input Devices

• On iPhone and iPad: MUST support touch input without any game controller, SHOULD also support native game controllers
• On macOS, MUST support keyboard + trackpad/mouse input without any game controller, SHOULD also support native game controllers
• On tvOS, MUST support native game controllers, SHOULD also support the Siri Remote if appropriate for the game

Monetization

• MUST NOT allow in-app purchases of any kind
• MUST NOT show any type of ads

Exclusivity

• MUST NOT be available for any other mobile platform (under the same title used in Apple Arcade)
• MAY be separately available on game console and/or PC
• MUST NOT be available in the App Store outside of Apple Arcade (under the same title used in Apple Arcade)

No BS

• MUST NOT require or support any type of online account other than Apple ID and Game Center
• MUST allow offline playback without a network connection (unless a network connection is essential to playback)
• MUST request explicit, optional user consent before sending any analytics/metrics. MUST allow the user to later change this to setting disable data collection.
• If any game data is stored on developer-hosted services, the app MUST provide the option to later delete the user

Just got AA with a new iphone xr. I totally love it. Have an mfi controller also.

For me this just is right. Good games for a very decent price. And outside apple arcade there are some premium games to. Just bought unruly heroes. Wonderful.

I was thinking of buying a nintendo switch for indie games. But have plenty with my phone it seems.

Having no problems buying mobile games and i prefer that way instead of f2p

I switched from android(i switch between operating systems every 3 years to try something fresh) and i was surprised by apple arcade.

I love it so much, it has a library of good quality games but i barely hear anyone talk about it that i forgot it exists after hearing about it during its launch a few years back or something

So is it a service in decline that i should expect go the way of google+ or do games still keep coming as they planned?

I have a 3-month trial of Apple Arcade (AA) that I should redeem soon.

I take it I can store save files on iCloud if that's enabled so I can resume even if I delete the game, or halt my AA subscription?

Any exclusives you'd recommend?

I bought a new iPhone 2 months or so ago and it says it comes with free 3 months of apple arcade and apple tv but when i redeem it and put payment method it always says insufficient balance …..do you require money in the bank account even to redeem the free 3 months?

I only have 4 days left to redeem so fast answers would be appreciated.

It would be nice to see ‘Plasma Sky+’ and ‘Jelly Defense+’. Jelly Defense has a real Apple Arcade feel to it, I used to play it for hours when it first appeared on iOS all those years ago!

Maybe something bigger like Stardew Valley could work too! (It’s on Xbox game pass so why not Apple Arcade?)

I am a fan of incremental games, and most are ad ridden messes on mobile. Does anyone recognise of any on Apple Arcade? The appeal of ad free sounds like the PC incremental game experience, and it lends itself perfectly to a mobile ‘check every few ‏‏‎ hours’ format.

Hey guys, so I know it can be played over periods of offline time, however I go on deployment regularly and am gone for months at a time without an internet connection. Can it still be used over this time with no issues?

Are the Apple and Google benefits "pick one" per family? Or can each line take advantage of them individually?

Like can I sign up for Apple Arcade on my line and my son sign up for Google Play pass on his?

Hey guys, Apple Arcade subscriber for about a year here. Lately I’ve been noticing new releases of already existing games but with the + title attached to them (like having Oddmar in the App Store and then releasing Oddmar+ on Apple Arcade). I’m just a bit curious, I don’t exactly know if there’s a reason they’re two different games. Are the + versions more polished? Do they have extra content? Thanks in advance for your help.

In my personal opinion the Nintendo Switch Pro controller is one of the best controllers ever made and I use it for everything to Steam to Stadia. Which is why it's extremely odd to me that it's not listed as a supported controller for Apple Arcade. Does anyone know why this is? Did a licensing problem? APIs don't work? Bad blood after Super Mario Run?

I just got it last week, and having been an NBA2K fan since 2K5, I’ve been really stuck to 2K22. Really beautifully done. What’s your favorite games to play? Hidden gems on arcade? Is there any management style games?

I mainly got it for The Oregon Trail. What else should I check out? I like all types of games. So don't hesitate to give me a recommendation.

Is there any way to disable app store notifications for apple arcade? Stuff like "apple arcade greats" and other suggestions. Ever since I subscribed a couple weeks ago I get notifications every other day or so.

While I myself already had a bunch of VIP points from previous purchases, I'm pretty sure new accounts will be able to collect the 300 points simply by doing "tasks" on the site such as filling out your profile.

I haven't investigated what "up to 3 months" means but in my own case I already had an active Arcade subscription and when I redeemed the offer I got 2 months added to my subscription. So perhaps it means new users get 3 months and subscribed users get 2 months.

i am new to this i enjoy the real arcade version but not many in my area. i downloaded the apple arcade app and i’ve been playing with the middle single drum and left thumb only for the blue drum hit and right thumb only for red i don’t do any type of back and forth both thumbs drumming. i am wondering how do other people play and if there are better methods because it is difficult for me for some of the hard ones i miss a bunch of blue. thank you
